What is the name of the song that the organist is playing in this video? My friend is orthodox and he sayed that, at his church, they sing this song. I don't know what the name of it is though. Can you tell me?
@CoolNick107 - The organist is playing the conclusion of Cherubimic Hymn (Xeroubikon) and the tune is Bortniansky's #7. "that we may receive the King of all, who comes invisibly upborne by the Angelic Hosts. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia."

@warszawianka Many orthodox churches in the U.S. have organs, especially Greek Orthodox churches. I attended a Serbian Orthodox church that also had an organ. I've never seen a Russian Orthodox church with an organ.
@JustJim70118 I've attended Orthodox services across the US in every jurisdiction except ACROD, and I've never encountered a pipe organ that actually played melodies. I have seen Antiochian churches that used small electronic organs instead of pitch pipes to give the choir its notes - but never played as part of the service.
Your church bought a fine instrument! You can't go wrong buying a Wicks pipe organ. Not only do they have a great sound in a church like yours, but they are built with pride! Keep posting.
You know what they say: "If it sparks and it clicks, it must be a Wicks." If that church ever rids itself of the organ, I'd gladly accept it. I'd also take the church building. It may be too "1960's" for some, but that would be considered highly ornate if it were a Roman Rite church. At least it looks like a church.
I have heard "If it clicks, it's a Wicks". I think Wicks organs are fine though. It's no C. B. Fisk, but it's not a bad organ. It will likely last a long time and with few problems. I would love to have one too.
I also agree that even though the church is from the 1960s, it is far more beautiful than a lot of stuff from that era. It is actually more beautiful in person than in pictures.
I don't know why there are organs are in american Greek Orthodox Churches. When I first went to an Orthodox Liturgy, I didn't know that organs were not consistant with Orthodox musical tradition. They never really bothered me largely because I was fleeing from the praise band crap. I don't like electronic organs very much, I think they're fake and usually not installed right. Pipe organs don't bother me though.
Congrats! Sounds good and the Church looks very beautiful!!

I'm sorry, I do not know what he is playing here. I enjoyed the fact that they have a real pipe organ and not an Allen or something.

@CoolNick107 This is the conclusion to the Cherubic Hymn by Bortniansky. One of my favorites!

In a second thought, you also have pews, which is definately NOT the Orthodox default. But which is also not a bad thing, IMO. =]
Nice icons!

@ehchagas Many Orthodox churches in the US have pews. That's not unusual. Having a pipe organ is very unusual for an Orthodox church, though.

An organ in an Orthodox Church??!?!?!
The mind REALLY boggles. Not a bad thing IMO, but then I'm a high church Protestant.
May the Lord bless your congregation at this Feast of the Annunciation!

I'm not trying to be mean, but why an organ? It would be forbidden in Slavic Orthodox churches.

Nevermind to my question I guess. I just read the information on the left. I'm confused about the organ, but church is beautiful.
