People claiming DMXs is more impressive b/c he spells nearly the whole thing aren't thinking about it. It takes about 3 seconds to realize that spelling the whole thing is a lot easier than mixing rhymes of both letters and words b/c you have to fit the sounds of both and still have it make sense. If you spell the whole thing (like DMX) it is no different than using all words. DMXs version is amateur, K-Solo's is much more complex.
Oh, Ive heard Its Dark and Hell Is Hot and agree, it's great and I agree that he is lyrically more impressive than K-Solo. On Spellbound though, I'll take Solo. Really, I dont care for either song.
It's actually easier to mix words and spelling because you only rhyme with the last letter. DMX is using all letters while having to make sure the sentence actually makes sense. For instance. " W O W, I C A N T.... S I N G The only part of that, that rhymes is T and G. So he has to fit his flow to capitalize on those letters. K solo doesn't. He just says. I hope that all the people that say rapping Spellbound isn't DMX's "style" realizes that X was rapping WAAAY before 1998. The dude has been emceeing before most of ya'll were even born (or just barely in diapers)! Peep X's "Angel" DVD in which he plays one of his old mixtapes from the late 1980s... DUDE MURDERED THE SHIT OUT OF THE SPELLBOUND STYLE.

@Penlager Given the time K Solo started it, versus this time, it was cooler. More was acceptable from the styles to the dances then. These days, yes, nothing is originals. Those days, everything new was original. When I first heard K Solo's spellbound, it was a classic, nobody was doing. Years later, DMX came into the picture with it and it was WACK. But deciphering the codes as K Solo rapped was pretty different those days.

This was not original. Solo wrote it as a battle in jail and beat Crackman X who got mad as solo got his atlantic deal out of it since he was rteleased first but XZ tried to get paid and said he wrote it. @fernsonia actually the only question that showed a reaction was did dmx write some of the lyrics to spellbound. he passed when he was asked did you write spellbound he passed. Dmx could have slightly changed the lyrics and k solo new it and showed a small reaction to the question. this song isnt even dmxs style whatsoever. if I never knew the history i could tell that dmx didnt write this. so you should listen to the music and be sure u know the history before you paint bullshit out as fact.

DMX came up with spellbound. He met k-solo in jail. K was supposedly the best rapper in jail and heard about X. They battled and X killed. DMX rhymed Spellbound in the battle. He told K-Solo how he came up with it. When K-Solo got out of jail, he pushed the song while X was still struggling to get into the rap game.

dmx and k solo were locked up together and from what i heard -- dmx spit alot of verses like this and he did have a song called spellbound with some of the same vereses he spit here and the same flow -- if you listen to k solo he has the same flow as dmx like this song , dmx was the originator of this style but k solo came out with it on record first -- cause dmx was still in jail , dmx hit k solo with several dis songs including "get at me dog" k solo didnt want it with dmx

Spellbound wasnt the style name it was just a name of the song which gained solo the nick The Letterman he wrote it in jail battled Crackman X on the tiers and was released before X then signed his atlantic deal. Crackman X was jealous and didnt get signed til years later due to his known crack addiction on the street. X then attempted to hate due to jealousy as he said her could do it better. People claiming DMXs is more impressive b/c he spells nearly the whole thing aren't thinking about it. It takes about 3 seconds to realize that spelling the whole thing is a lot easier than mixing rhymes of both letters and words b/c you have to fit the sounds of both and still have it make sense. If you spell the whole thing (like DMX) it is no different than using all words. DMXs version is amateur, K-Solo's is much more complex.

It's actually easier to mix words and spelling because you only rhyme with the last letter. DMX is using all letters while having to make sure the sentence actually makes sense. For instance. " W O W, I C A N T.... S I N G The only part of that, that rhymes is T and G. So he has to fit his flow to capitalize on those letters. K solo doesn't. He just says. "It ain't hard to tell, that you're dumb as H E L L...see? Mad easy to do.
