I think that if it's a handheld device, the games should be made of flash memory (i.e. cartridges like the gameboy and ds), not UMD disks that have a lot of turning parts, take a long time to load, and use up a lot of battery power. Hopefully sony will get smarter with the next version of the psp, until then, I don't particularly want it lol
I wish that the PSP had two analog sticks but I don't think that the GO should have added a stick. It would have split the market for games that could use the second stick and games that would not.

@ell9400 my friend came over yesterday and i told him to bring his go and i played it for like 30 minutes and i laughed at it and started playing my 3000. so i say the go sucks and i have played it. it is not worth the money.

Oh yeah and do not ever blame wireless b for slowness unless you have 80 to 100 Mbit internet. Remember Wireless-B has a max speed of 11.0 Mbps, so unless you have 100 Mbit internet, do not complain.
yeah with the regular psp's I can just go to a local game store buy a couple of UMDS and play right after, it only takes a few minutes. I'm not the type that waits around for a game to complete downloading when a physical media is within reach.

Um...everybody uses custom firmware for their devices. The "custom" firmware comes from the modding community for which Sony gets pissed off about. Or are you bitching about Sony not using open source firmware? In which case, there's other handhelds that go this route.

well you do know that it has bluetooth? you can use a PS3 controller if it means that much to you. using bluetooth you can connect a Ps3 controller to the psp go and play games normally. and you can use bluetooth to tether it to your cell phone and get 3g connectivity ANYWHERE. i think this thing is pretty legit.

i mean free wi-fi as in they pay for your internet, just because there is free wifi connecting doesnt mean you can always even find an internet connection so they should provide it.

It is quite painfully cool little gaming device I tell ya and it is tough for a lot of existing owner to came out of the closet to admit that too. To be honest , it is even harder to justify a purchase decision when u already got a 3000 or something. Therefore u might noticed a lot of owner expressing displesure by cowardly trashing go.
UMD could not hold enough space gt 4 for psp is 2 GB that could not be put on a UMD. They are looking at it from a gaming perspective they can make bigger games now the psp go also has 46 RAM so it can support better quality games verses 32 RAM. You can download a movie multiple movies now verses carrying a big stupid fucking carrying case or a pocket full of UMD's ur a fucking (MORON) think before you speak because ur totally a marketing genius super cosmica.

if you bought the game on playstation netwrok you can click on the my downloads option on playstation network and you will see a list of everything you bought/downloaded. There will be an option to download it again, so if you loose your memory stick or for some reason your new PSP GO! breaks, you can use do this.
i think its just the same with the itunes thing.. you will buy on appstore for games for you will be able to download it, and it will require you to enter you credit card number something like that and you can just sync it in to your psp go, i think this thing would resolve the piracy on downloading games for free.. but i doubt hackers wouldn't find a way to hack it for free.. just like the games on ipod touch..
eh. they'd have to pull ALOT of work to integrate it, and i think the psp doens't need such an upgrade like that until much later, i mean, the graphics are pretty damn fine with me. and the only reason it's lighter is because they took out the UMD. :/

What about UMD Dumper for PSP 1000-3000 when you copy your UMD's to the psp 1000-3000 memory stick can't you transfer you games from your old psp to you new psp.

my psp 1000 has no more warranty (3 years). i am getting a little annoyed by the heavness and limited memory. i have already started saving money for it, but i want to know if anyone has any idea when the psp go will go down in price. if it will by the end of this year, or the begining of next year i will get it. another thing is that i don't bring my psp on trips anymore, since it is so big and heavy. the psp go should take care of that...
Memory can easily be upgraded with a larger memory stick. They are so much cheaper now. 8GB is around $35 US dollars. 16GB is around $65-$70. 4GB obviously less. Plus USB cable.
If you want lighter and smaller, PSP Go is for you. If you want downloads, you already can with your unit - it plays everything the PSP Go can because the games are identical and it has been able to do downloads for some time.

Yeah, sounds to me like you can benefit from the smaller size. Just keep in mind you will have to re-buy any games you want to play if Sony don't actually offer you free downloads of games you already own.
I'm so going for the PSP Go! I understand many people prefer the UMD, but it's not a reason to just say the Go sucks. People who prefer UMD don't have to worry, because all PSP games will be released on UMD as well as downloadable.

The existing PSPs will definitely be able to do both downloads and UMDs, though (with cheap USB cable and memory stick).
PSP Go will only be able to do downloads. So it's bad luck if you have something on UMD that doesn't make it as a download. But most popular stuff will probably make it.

I wanna get my hands on it before I buy it. This way I can see if it is comfortable to play with. I'd also like to see a slight price drop. I can afford it but it still seems a bit pricey. The MGS game coming out looks so good though.

overall i think the psp go is awesome and will rule, however i also think the DSi is better than any psp.
one ting i wonder about is what those four little buttons at the top of the psp go are for? you know like next to the shoulder buttons? what are those things for?

I prefer the controls and position and shape of the buttons on the current PSPs much more. Thumbstick, shoulder buttons and other buttons all look a lot more comfortable on existing PSPs to me.
A second analog would not be supported in any previous games

And i've seen articles saying that they will have a "free will" program for transfering data (Which, BTW may include the program and usb cord that come with the purchase of the go.

so you can only get games online? thats the dumbest idea ever they should include both. the reg psp way better. it would be cool if they gave you a certain number of free games or free wifi or something to make it more of a bonus but it seems like you are losign more than you are gaining with this.

Uhhhh, what do you mean free wifi? Sony doesn't charge for wifi. Also, they give you a voucher to get Rock Band Unplugged for free

i mean free wi-fi as in they pay for your internet, just because there is free wifi connecting doesnt mean you can always even find an internet connection so they should provide it.

It is quite painfully cool little gaming device I tell ya and it is tough for a lot of existing owner to came out of the closet to admit that too. To be honest , it is even harder to justify a purchase decision when u already got a 3000 or something. Therefore u might noticed a lot of owner expressing displesure by cowardly trashing go.

UMD could not hold enough space gt 4 for psp is 2 GB that could not be put on a UMD. They are looking at it from a gaming perspective they can make bigger games now the psp go also has 46 RAM so it can support better quality games verses 32 RAM. You can download a movie multiple movies now verses carrying a big stupid fucking carrying case or a pocket full of UMD's ur a fucking (MORON) think before you speak because ur totally a marketing genius super cosmica.

if you bought the game on playstation netwrok you can click on the my downloads option on playstation network and you will see a list of everything you bought/downloaded. There will be an option to download it again, so if you loose your memory stick or for some reason your new PSP GO! breaks, you can use do this.

i think its just the same with the itunes thing.. you will buy on appstore for games for you will be able to download it, and it will require you to enter you credit card number something like that and you can just sync it in to your psp go, i think this thing would resolve the piracy on downloading games for free.. but i doubt hackers wouldn't find a way to hack it for free.. just like the games on ipod touch..

eh. they'd have to pull ALOT of work to integrate it, and i think the psp doens't need such an upgrade like that until much later, i mean, the graphics are pretty damn fine with me. and the only reason it's lighter is because they took out the UMD. :/

like another reasoon they didnt put another analog stick is because they had to make it compatible with the 3000, so if they would have another analog, it would B a pain to make a game for the 3000 and then another version just for the go,
Remember people the Go isn't the psp 2, it's kinda like the psp 4000, and it's waay better than past upgrades so B thankful that they didnt just make the screen brighter and called it 4000

I think Go isn't worht buying if you have a psp already. :/ the reason why is that the controls look....bad. but that's me.
it sounds like the 3000 and psp go do the same shit, so...only good thing about it is the 16gb and internal wi-fi. but, those 16gb will go out fast since you have to download EVERYTHING, and not many games for psp have online that's active.

What about UMD Dumper for PSP 1000-3000 when you copy your UMD's to the psp 1000-3000 memory stick can't you transfer you games from your old psp to you new psp.

Of course not, the only reason you can on the older PSPs is because of the hacked firmware. This thing's a gimmick that won't pay off for Sony. Dropping the UMD drive? What are they thinking??

well if they do get the two analog sticks they would have to change the games because now all they have to do is copy the umd onto the site but if it had two analog sticks they would have to change the settings/control to be able and use te second analog stick and it would take longer for a game to be posteted on the site.
now i would also like a touch screen but the touchfull scrren i expencive and it is fatter so the itself psp will get hevier and bigger.

i heard that PSP's are fragile and i carry stuff in by bag pack so would if break and be a waste of a lot of money. is this one going to be stronger. and i was wondering, since my friend had the old PSP, if i can buy PSP games and still be able to play a game with him if i buy a PSP go.
i have never had a PSP so after answering my questions, if you can tell me some good games i could get, i am into Guning games and Multiplayer games mostly.

you probably don't have that many umd's anyway, no one really buys umd's anyway and if you have a 3000 i doubt you have a huge library anyway, besides it's not for you, but for ppl who don't wanna carry around clunkered umd's and ppl that don't have a psp period!! have a nice one!!

my psp 1000 has no more warranty (3 years). i am getting a little annoyed by the heavness and limited memory. i have already started saving money for it, but i want to know if anyone has any idea when the psp go will go down in price. if it will by the end of this year, or the begining of next year i will get it. another thing is that i don't bring my psp on trips anymore, since it is so big and heavy. the psp go should take care of that...

Memory can easily be upgraded with a larger memory stick. They are so much cheaper now. 8GB is around $35 US dollars. 16GB is around $65-$70. 4GB obviously less. Plus USB cable.
If you want lighter and smaller, PSP Go is for you. If you want downloads, you already can with your unit - it plays everything the PSP Go can because the games are identical and it has been able to do downloads for some time.

thanks, but i still want to get a psp go because of the portablility. i often go on trips and my itouch has shitty long term games. i don't bring my psp out of the house cause it's so damn heavy for a portable. also i have to bring my case to carry all of my umds. al though i only have 8 or so.....

Yeah, sounds to me like you can benefit from the smaller size. Just keep in mind you will have to re-buy any games you want to play if Sony don't actually offer you free downloads of games you already own.

I'm so going for the PSP Go! I understand many people prefer the UMD, but it's not a reason to just say the Go sucks. People who prefer UMD don't have to worry, because all PSP games will be released on UMD as well as downloadable.

all games will not be released on UMD and downloads (Sony have said they will make a lot of them available for download, though - but not all).
The existing PSPs will definitely be able to do both downloads and UMDs, though (with cheap USB cable and memory stick).
PSP Go will only be able to do downloads. So it's bad luck if you have something on UMD that doesn't make it as a download. But most popular stuff will probably make it.

Hard to say if Sony will come good on the UMD-to-free-download deal that they have said they have plans for. Wait and see, I guess.
Sony have said lots of things, including that the US market will get the GPS add-on like Japan and Europe did for the current PSP, but they never released it :)
Would be nice if it happens, but I personally love those cute spinning UMDs (I also love downloads), so I am not in their target PSP Go market :)

I wanna get my hands on it before I buy it. This way I can see if it is comfortable to play with. I'd also like to see a slight price drop. I can afford it but it still seems a bit pricey. The MGS game coming out looks so good though.

one analog stick is perfect.
mem stick micro is smaller, but its bad that we cant use our old mem sticks.
overall i think the psp go is awesome and will rule, however i also think the DSi is better than any psp.
one ting i wonder about is what those four little buttons at the top of the psp go are for? you know like next to the shoulder buttons? what are those things for?

Those buttons at the top of the PSP Go are:
* VOLUME
* SCREEN BRIGHTNESS (and SCREEN OFF when pressing and holding for 1 second, useful for battery life when you don't want the screen on with audio)
* MUSIC EQUALIZER (when headphones are attached)
Just like existing PSP units.
I prefer the controls and position and shape of the buttons on the current PSPs much more. Thumbstick, shoulder buttons and other buttons all look a lot more comfortable on existing PSPs to me.

A second analog would not be supported in any previous games
From what i've heard its a comfortable system to hold
And i've seen articles saying that they will have a "free will" program for transfering data (Which, BTW may include the program and usb cord that come with the purchase of the go.
And the original Psp is STILL better than the DSI are you kidding me? DS sucks.
