i have a friend that is a vet he has military medical assistance hes been going to kidney dialysis for 10 years hes not even on the list for a doner kidney whats the new health care reform gonna do for him
Exactly, also the interesting thing is that early on, the other guy criticized him for not proposing the Swiss system, when that very system would be shot down so fast, that it wouldn't stand a chance.
You have to take steps towards your goal, not just jump straight into it.
It's kind of odd, they first criticize people for pushing to hard to fast, then they say that if they were pushing harder it would work .
Why doesn't anyone ever suggest boycotting the "for-profit" insurance companies? They are the one's causing the rates to sky rocket. I'm sick of the false dichotomy that is being presented to us. I don't want the gov, to tax health care. Yet I am sick of the bad business men. I say boycott the jerks, which would drive down the costs, and yet still leave it in the private sector. Anyone else ever think that? Just curious...I'm no expert.
InFromTheVoid- the argument made by the Obama administration suggests that there is no real competition in the current marketplace, and therefore there is a need for the so-called "public option." In advocating it, I believe Obama and Democrats use phrases such as "keeping insurance companies honest".
At the moment, there's no public option to choose, so one cannot boycott all for-profit providers. In addition most people have employer- chosen insurance and cannot choose providers.
interesting...sounds like a real mess. Maybe the employers could boycott the jerks and start there own insurance co. together so they can pool together.
Do you want to be cared for by doctors who are told how much care and to who they can care for? For profit is not the proublem-----You have no buying power. If your insurance company tells you what dr you can and can not go to or allowing the government to that the insurance companys place what is the difference? No Government option!
you miss my point. I am not against for profit insurance. I just want to restructure how and when they interact with the medical community. They have serious ethical problems now and congress and the trial lawyers make sure it is not adressed. Tort reform and illeagal immigration are quietly blocked by unions and trail lawyers. replacing for porfit insurance companys with big government is not reform of any kind!
I am for zero government regulation in the economy. I was just trying to say that if people want to blame the insurance co. because SOME of them make so much profit (some unjustly) then they should just boycott them instead of using it as an excuse to run to the gov. to fix everything.
Anyone who has questions regarding the public option may be able to find the answers in the comment section of my profile. I have a wide variety of resources and information including the ez to read version of the bill and several ways in which you can become more involved.
Yeah, the Swiss system is the second most expensive on this planet.... and its a PRIVATE health care system...
People who can't bring up the money to pay for insurance are financed by tax money, and you still got to pay a 250$ fee per month to your insurance company.
I think that having a private or public system doesn't matter that much, there are many other factors that determine the costs.
The reason why these people can handle discussion and debate is because they are not slaves to their ideology. Sure they might think that their way of doing things is more right than other peoples ways but they also know that their way is not the ONLY way. People like Glenn Beck, OReilly and Olbermann are basically people who are so fantatic about their ideas that the opposition will make the sky rain fire or something. Those things causes wild emotions and outbursts.
The US is much larger than all of those European countries. Think about France as New York State. New York State could probably manage a single payer because NY has a lot of money. Now what comes into a problem is when a shit-hole state like Kansas, whose GDP is next to nothing, free-loads off of NY, IL, CA, NV, etc
I'm disappointed in the Republican party for not bringing up this issue. Although they tend to be the most supported in states that would benefit the most from a single-payer system

These are the kind of reasoned discussions i wish Americans at large were having. Instead the pundits have turned this into a battle of good vs evil.

this is how all political debates should be!!
calm, rational discussion, points and counter points. no yelling/shouting, no red faces or deaf ears.
this is the first time in a long time that i've heard "with all due respect" from someone, without is being condescending and hollow!
hope the full video is long!

Health care affects the economy. Without taking any sides on this, I can honestly say the health care we currently have is hurting our economy.
