Supras really are no joke in drags dudes. Consider how tuned this one probably would be, and how fast the Ferrari is compared to much less costly cars. An F355 achieves 60mph in around the high 4 second range, and runs a quarter mile in about 13. Now you can buy a car that achieves 0-60 in low 4 second range, quarter mile in low 12's, all for under 50 grand. That being said, the Supra will never sound as beautiful as an F355. You'll find either one for about the same price now.I'd take the F355

@skater21 Actually the Supra would easily out perform the Fezza. Remember, the Supra has about 50k down onto the suspention and other things that could really effect handling. Stock, there's no way. Plus it's got turbo's, better acceleration out of the corners. And anyway, the Ferrari's Italian, it wouldn't get past the first corner without breaking down.
@AlphaKingsMachinima What are you talking about? Turbos don't automatically mean better acceleration out of a corner. A proper driving line and good traction mean good acceleration out of a corner. If anything, prepping a turbo car to exit out of a corner is more difficult because you usually have to either hit the gas before you reach the apex to compensate for turbo lag, or left foot brake in order to keep boost up.
@OhHeyThereGuy Not automatically but you can get turbo's that will provide boost to the RPM's where you mostly come out of corners, I know for a fact that the Nissan GTR SpecV uses this.
@AlphaKingsMachinima The GTR also uses... wait for it... AWD! That's where the magic is on the GTR. What your talking about on the Spec V is the high-gear boost control, which is only temporary and only increases torque in the mid-range rpms. Porsche has a similar system on the 911 Turbo.

That Ferrari is a late 90s 355 Spider, it only produces around 380hp, they've probably tuned that Supra to around 500 - 800. There are companies that specialize in tuning Ferraris for applications up to 1200hp just like the supra, but in the end the Ferrari's bare bones (Which is all you would be keeping from the stock car at that point) are still much stronger and lighter than the toyota counterpart. Still a cool scene. It all boils down to who put more work into their rides, though.
Supra's and so customizable so you can make them unbelievably fast, but that ferrari is verrrrrrry fast as well they make it look like its so slow, that guy just dosent know how to shift stick :P
@Arghblya their are tones of road legal cars that would crush a 458, matter of fact i own one that will give it a run for its money. a chevelle with a 454LSX supercharged. standing quartermile in about 10-11 seconds.
and hell my chevelle isen't even all it could be, let alone waht other guys have .
and FYI ( vin diesel claims his charger to be a 10 second car, hence why paul ows him a 10 second car. (the supra we see here) if that cars capable of 10 seconds, it to would beat a 458

@Super79CamaroZ28 2.0L (even NA - e.g. 240 hp) would be OK in an extra light car. But the Supra has 3.0L twin turbo as standard (this custom one has a single bigger turbo 700+ hp + 100 hp NOS). For the money (e.g. USD 46,000 in ~1995), the MKIV was a great car in all respects. Much more refined than MKIII or older... Of course, when you love American muscle, 3.0L sounds like a joke. But some non-US cars are also great fun to drive.

@WestlandLynx666 A stock 458 is 560 hp (and lighter), 599 GTO is 661 hp (and comparable weight), this specific Supra is over 700 hp and 100 hp NOS. Plus, it has EXTRA special brakes, special suspension etc. etc. etc. It can outaccelerate, outbrake, and outcorner basically anything stock (bar million dollar cars or ultralight joke/improper freak cars - Atom, Radical etc.). No current or past stock Ferrari would RAPE this car. This car would be extremely competitive and would win in most tests.
@jakubkrcma I've looked up the specs of this car but different sites claim different things. According to Supra store it has 700 bhp (which is i.m.o a bit unlikely considering the mods) andaccording to RS sport cars it has 544 bhp and a 0-60 time of 4.3. I've found these same specs (544hp and 0-60 4.3) on al the othersites and Supra Store is the ONLY site that claims to have 700hp. Also the guys on the offical Supra forum say that the car has no more than 550hp.
@WestlandLynx666 The acceleration from 0 is only limited by the lack of proper launch control back in those days (if you use traction control, it will kill acceleration, if you don't, you WILL spin or underaccelerate). But try e.g. 50-150 mph and it's pretty clear no Ferrari can "rape" it. If the stars are aligned well, a stock Ferrari will keep up (unless we're talking the many times more expensive FXX etc., but that's not even street legal). Also, the extreme wing means no special top speed.
@WestlandLynx666 A completely stock MKIV TT can do 0-60 in 4.9 s. Even with "just" 71 % more power (550 vs 320), the potential (without non-TRC spin or excessive TRC regulation) is obviously substantially better than 4.3 s. I have no reason not to believe the suprastore figures and there's still the NOS. Since there are tons of 700-800 hp Supras with similar or worse setups, I don't see why this gem would be any worse. Plus, this car was modified in direct cooperation with the mod manufacturers.
@WestlandLynx666 My friend's customer (my friend in this very town of just 4,000+ people does Japanese performance car engine overhauls etc., including my own car - a lightened 1984 lbs, 250 hp, 1.6 turbo 4A-GZE i.e. "4A-GTE" AE92 Corolla hatch) MKIV has "just" 420 PS (which is even less hp, e.g. 410+) and it does 0-100 kph (0-62.13 mph) in 4.2 s and if you could actually put that power on the ground at the right revs etc., it would be a 4.0 s car. Still, compared to the FF Supra, it is NOTHING.
@WestlandLynx666 But you're right that stock vs stock or modified vs modified, the 458 or 599 GTO would literally rape the Supra, of course. Especially the 458 (it's MUCH lighter - almost 400 lbs). Then again, dollar per dollar, the Supra is the obvious choice. But with Ferrari, you get that aura of excellence, prestige, and awe. You get what you pay for. Even a very low power (e.g. 140 hp - ha ha ha) Ferrari oozes greatness and glamor. That can win races before they even start. :-)

@Frost53King I'm no expert, but I'd say a lot. 1st off, it's a VERY popular and hard to find car (unless you have big money) since the last year of production was 13 years ago in 1998. I was shopping around for one on eBay motors and just the stock cars alone were going in excess of 30 grand. The only supra I saw for less was a heap that had be completely wrecked, and even that was going for like 10 I think. So take 30 grand, and add up the mods. My guess is around 60k. Just a guess.
W/ fully automatic shifting, my LS 400 does 0-100 kph in 6.7 s (60mph 6.5s) and I did a quarter in 14.5 s with delayed 1st and 2nd gear shifting (it's tricky, because you have to keep it in "L", then move the selector to "2" a precise moment before it reaches the rpm limiter and then do the same with "2" to "3" - takes quite a few attempts to get it right, usually I mildly hit the limiter, losing precious time - there is nothing like a manual or a double clutch automated manual in this respect).
@Jfinny16 The standard MKIV does 0.98 g (300 ft slalom), which is OK. But the FF Supra is a KILLER. It would wipe the floor with almost any production vehicle, even today. And you can BET that all or the vast majority of the few cars that would be able to beat the FF Supra are MUCH more expensive or some jokes (like 1000 lbs single seaters). The FF Supra has superior acceleration, top speed, braking, and cornering. It is not a one-trick pony. :-) Ferrari is great, no problem there.
@sanramondrift Dude, that just MUST be "stock" with increased boost and special tires. A 13.x s car will not get to 10.x s even with Ayrton Senna's ghost (no added driver weight) behind the wheel. Anyway, I admire Toyota/Lexus engine etc. quality (with the well known exceptions - MKIII head gasket bolt torque etc.). When you can just add a supercharger (etc.) to 1UZ-FE and go from 245 hp to about 460 hp without even touching the (forged) internals and it's running reliably, you see the quality.
@sanramondrift Checked it out. Great car. Yes, the twin turbos are stock, but the car is FAR from stock. 10.75 would be nowhere near possible with a fully stock (showroom specs and condition) Supra.

I mean, there are e.g. chip tuning modifications many guys use with turbodiesels here that make a completely stock car (as far as HW is concerned) perform better. But even such a "small" modification means the car is no longer completely stock. It doesn't really matter, but sometimes there is confusion about what is original and what has been adjusted/replaced.

@sanramondrift Look up the car from the movie, dude, it's won numerous awards. It's got a 100 hp NOS over 700+ hp single turbo engine. A stock Supra TT does 0-60 in 4.9 s. McLaren F1 has 627 hp. A stock 355 Spider with the same driver will always beat a stock Supra TT with the same driver. 60 hp more, 200 kg less. Also, at peak torque, the Spider has over 300 hp, the Supra under 240 hp. I am a Toyota/Lexus man and the Supra is my favorite car. But I don't live in a dream (0-60 in 4.1 s stock).

At peak TORQUE (315@4000), the stock Supra TT has ~239.90 hp, I already stated the peak POWER before (320 hp). At peak TORQUE (268@6000), the stock 355 Spider has ~306.16 hp. The Supra's curb weight is ~476 lbs higher (~216 kg) than the Spider's. As a car man, you HAVE TO know that a car with over 27 % more power at peak torque rpm AND over 13.7 % lighter is FASTER.

@sanramondrift 1) Yes, Supra MKIV is amazingly modifiable, 2) T-72 is excellent, 3) Getrag is wonderfully reliable (+/-), but the gear ratios for 4th, 5th, and 6th suck (relatively, and that's for stock - with modified, already the 1st is all wrong, of course), especially with the 155 mph speed limiter (~152 in 5th, ~155 in 6th, crazy), 3) I think you beat the Spider because you are simply a superior driver and with the JZZ30, that's even more impressive (prob. VVTi/single turbo w/ better tq).
@jakubkrcma the thing is my friends soarer, its the none vvti its a 1jzgte from a soarer swapped into the sc300.. and also none of the soarer's have 6spd. my sc300, i have a 2jzgte and r154. my 3rd gear power band is from 45 to 95. 4th gear goes to 130- 140 and my 5th technically is at 203 with my gear ratios. i need to get some videos up soon. arguments aside you seem like a pretty cool fellow. and its not even an arguments its more like a strong discussion.
@sanramondrift 203 mph is extra cool and with your engine's power at 23 psi, no problem. Even at low boost, you should hit ~198 mph (with ~450 rwhp). That's way beyond what I have ever been (161 mph in my stock 1994 and 1998 LS 400, downhill). 756 hp means approx. 235 mph with stock body (no extra wing) with optimum gearing (peak power rpm at top speed), judging by the 177+ mph unlimited top speed of the completely stock Supra TT at 320 hp.

@sanramondrift Now I just have one 1998 LS 400. My first LS 400 was 1994 with moon roof, the better audio option, but it had no air suspension. Then I also had a British (RHD) 1992 LS 400 (for a short while). But my 1998 LS 400 suits me well. Of course it is heavy and slow, despite having the cats removed by the previous owner (so it has 300 PS (maybe ~295 hp) instead of 284 PS). But with manually delaying the 1st - 2nd gear automatic shifting point etc., I did 0 - 100 kph in 6.1x (0-62.13 mph).
@sanramondrift The 235 mph I mentioned are a theoretical value, if you changed JUST the hp. If a car does 177 mph with 320 hp and you don't change anything (size, shape, tires, weight) and push the power to 756 hp, the top speed will change with the third root of the hp increase. So 2.3625 times more hp = 1.3318 times top speed. This means just keeping the original gear ratios and changing the final drive by 1.3318. OF COURSE IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MILES TO ACHIEVE THAT SPEED.
@sanramondrift The Veyron does 253.81 mph at 987 hp and the Veyron Super Sport 267.85 mph from 1184 hp. It takes a LOOONG distance to get there. Your friends 256 in just 1 mile is total awesomeness. But a 1700 hp Supra woud, given optimum gearing and unlimited flat and straight distance with the original shape/size/weight (of a completely stock Supra), achieve 1.744 times the original top speed (308 mph). Of course EVERYTHING would have to be redone/reinforced and it would take maybe 10 miles.
@jakubkrcma so either the 355 is overrated for its specs and its speed or the supra is underrated. we have done 0-60 specs with my friends supra with just wider tires so it can grip and it was in the 4.1 sec range. notice how the wheels and tires aren't stock in the movie supra. we all have one thing in common when know the physics in the F&F movies are not real. i mean damn the eclipse at the beginning shifts 7 times... lol the barracuda does a burn out and a wheelie at the same time....

@sanramondrift I am NOT taking FF seriously! I am taking the SUPRA they used in that movie seriously. They did some SERIOUS work on it (look it up and see the part list - wheels, brakes, suspension, engine, styling, EVERYTHING). They say the car has Lexus reliability, Viper killing cornering, etc. It's NOT $150 k just because it was in a STUPID movie about racing girls, it is a TRUE GEM. It was great BEFORE the movie.

Supras really are no joke in drags dudes. Consider how tuned this one probably would be, and how fast the Ferrari is compared to much less costly cars. An F355 achieves 60mph in around the high 4 second range, and runs a quarter mile in about 13. Now you can buy a car that achieves 0-60 in low 4 second range, quarter mile in low 12's, all for under 50 grand. That being said, the Supra will never sound as beautiful as an F355. You'll find either one for about the same price now.I'd take the F355

@skater21 Actually the Supra would easily out perform the Fezza. Remember, the Supra has about 50k down onto the suspention and other things that could really effect handling. Stock, there's no way. Plus it's got turbo's, better acceleration out of the corners. And anyway, the Ferrari's Italian, it wouldn't get past the first corner without breaking down.

@AlphaKingsMachinima What are you talking about? Turbos don't automatically mean better acceleration out of a corner. A proper driving line and good traction mean good acceleration out of a corner. If anything, prepping a turbo car to exit out of a corner is more difficult because you usually have to either hit the gas before you reach the apex to compensate for turbo lag, or left foot brake in order to keep boost up.

That Ferrari is a late 90s 355 Spider, it only produces around 380hp, they've probably tuned that Supra to around 500 - 800. There are companies that specialize in tuning Ferraris for applications up to 1200hp just like the supra, but in the end the Ferrari's bare bones (Which is all you would be keeping from the stock car at that point) are still much stronger and lighter than the toyota counterpart. Still a cool scene. It all boils down to who put more work into their rides, though.

@Super79CamaroZ28 2.0L (even NA - e.g. 240 hp) would be OK in an extra light car. But the Supra has 3.0L twin turbo as standard (this custom one has a single bigger turbo 700+ hp + 100 hp NOS). For the money (e.g. USD 46,000 in ~1995), the MKIV was a great car in all respects. Much more refined than MKIII or older... Of course, when you love American muscle, 3.0L sounds like a joke. But some non-US cars are also great fun to drive.

Plus, it has EXTRA special brakes, special suspension etc. etc. etc. It can outaccelerate, outbrake, and outcorner basically anything stock (bar million dollar cars or ultralight joke/improper freak cars - Atom, Radical etc.). No current or past stock Ferrari would RAPE this car. This car would be extremely competitive and would win in most tests.

According to Supra store it has 700 bhp (which is i.m.o a bit unlikely considering the mods) andaccording to RS sport cars it has 544 bhp and a 0-60 time of 4.3. I've found these same specs (544hp and 0-60 4.3) on al the othersites and Supra Store is the ONLY site that claims to have 700hp. Also the guys on the offical Supra forum say that the car has no more than 550hp.

@WestlandLynx666 The acceleration from 0 is only limited by the lack of proper launch control back in those days (if you use traction control, it will kill acceleration, if you don't, you WILL spin or underaccelerate). But try e.g. 50-150 mph and it's pretty clear no Ferrari can "rape" it. If the stars are aligned well, a stock Ferrari will keep up (unless we're talking the many times more expensive FXX etc., but that's not even street legal). Also, the extreme wing means no special top speed.

Even with "just" 71 % more power (550 vs 320), the potential (without non-TRC spin or excessive TRC regulation) is obviously substantially better than 4.3 s. I have no reason not to believe the suprastore figures and there's still the NOS. Since there are tons of 700-800 hp Supras with similar or worse setups, I don't see why this gem would be any worse. Plus, this car was modified in direct cooperation with the mod manufacturers.

@WestlandLynx666 My friend's customer (my friend in this very town of just 4,000+ people does Japanese performance car engine overhauls etc., including my own car - a lightened 1984 lbs, 250 hp, 1.6 turbo 4A-GZE i.e. "4A-GTE" AE92 Corolla hatch) MKIV has "just" 420 PS (which is even less hp, e.g. 410+) and it does 0-100 kph (0-62.13 mph) in 4.2 s and if you could actually put that power on the ground at the right revs etc., it would be a 4.0 s car. Still, compared to the FF Supra, it is NOTHING.

@Frost53King I'm no expert, but I'd say a lot. 1st off, it's a VERY popular and hard to find car (unless you have big money) since the last year of production was 13 years ago in 1998. I was shopping around for one on eBay motors and just the stock cars alone were going in excess of 30 grand. The only supra I saw for less was a heap that had be completely wrecked, and even that was going for like 10 I think. So take 30 grand, and add up the mods. My guess is around 60k. Just a guess.

W/ fully automatic shifting, my LS 400 does 0-100 kph in 6.7 s (60mph 6.5s) and I did a quarter in 14.5 s with delayed 1st and 2nd gear shifting (it's tricky, because you have to keep it in "L", then move the selector to "2" a precise moment before it reaches the rpm limiter and then do the same with "2" to "3" - takes quite a few attempts to get it right, usually I mildly hit the limiter, losing precious time - there is nothing like a manual or a double clutch automated manual in this respect).

@Jfinny16 The standard MKIV does 0.98 g (300 ft slalom), which is OK. But the FF Supra is a KILLER. It would wipe the floor with almost any production vehicle, even today. And you can BET that all or the vast majority of the few cars that would be able to beat the FF Supra are MUCH more expensive or some jokes (like 1000 lbs single seaters). The FF Supra has superior acceleration, top speed, braking, and cornering. It is not a one-trick pony. :-) Ferrari is great, no problem there.

@sanramondrift Dude, that just MUST be "stock" with increased boost and special tires. A 13.x s car will not get to 10.x s even with Ayrton Senna's ghost (no added driver weight) behind the wheel. Anyway, I admire Toyota/Lexus engine etc. quality (with the well known exceptions - MKIII head gasket bolt torque etc.). When you can just add a supercharger (etc.) to 1UZ-FE and go from 245 hp to about 460 hp without even touching the (forged) internals and it's running reliably, you see the quality.

I mean, there are e.g. chip tuning modifications many guys use with turbodiesels here that make a completely stock car (as far as HW is concerned) perform better. But even such a "small" modification means the car is no longer completely stock. It doesn't really matter, but sometimes there is confusion about what is original and what has been adjusted/replaced.

The racing scene was on PCH about 15 miles north of Malibu on PCH near the Los Angeles and Ventura County line. My wife was a crew member on the film.

@sanramondrift Look up the car from the movie, dude, it's won numerous awards. It's got a 100 hp NOS over 700+ hp single turbo engine. A stock Supra TT does 0-60 in 4.9 s. McLaren F1 has 627 hp. A stock 355 Spider with the same driver will always beat a stock Supra TT with the same driver. 60 hp more, 200 kg less. Also, at peak torque, the Spider has over 300 hp, the Supra under 240 hp. I am a Toyota/Lexus man and the Supra is my favorite car. But I don't live in a dream (0-60 in 4.1 s stock).

At peak TORQUE (315@4000), the stock Supra TT has ~239.90 hp, I already stated the peak POWER before (320 hp). At peak TORQUE (268@6000), the stock 355 Spider has ~306.16 hp. The Supra's curb weight is ~476 lbs higher (~216 kg) than the Spider's. As a car man, you HAVE TO know that a car with over 27 % more power at peak torque rpm AND over 13.7 % lighter is FASTER.

internet arguments are retarded. im tired of arguing. after i did my gte swap on my car it was already nuts. just turning up the boost puts you near 400. i now have a turbonetics t-72 and its just nuts. F&F is a joke but none the less very entertaining. the v160 ( the supra 6speed tranny) is a very goods transmission but the gear ratios aren't that wonderful. like i said before i raced a 355 spider with my friends stock soarer and kicked its ass. and thats just a 1jzgte.

@sanramondrift 1) Yes, Supra MKIV is amazingly modifiable, 2) T-72 is excellent, 3) Getrag is wonderfully reliable (+/-), but the gear ratios for 4th, 5th, and 6th suck (relatively, and that's for stock - with modified, already the 1st is all wrong, of course), especially with the 155 mph speed limiter (~152 in 5th, ~155 in 6th, crazy), 3) I think you beat the Spider because you are simply a superior driver and with the JZZ30, that's even more impressive (prob. VVTi/single turbo w/ better tq).

@jakubkrcma the thing is my friends soarer, its the none vvti its a 1jzgte from a soarer swapped into the sc300.. and also none of the soarer's have 6spd. my sc300, i have a 2jzgte and r154. my 3rd gear power band is from 45 to 95. 4th gear goes to 130- 140 and my 5th technically is at 203 with my gear ratios. i need to get some videos up soon. arguments aside you seem like a pretty cool fellow. and its not even an arguments its more like a strong discussion.

@sanramondrift 203 mph is extra cool and with your engine's power at 23 psi, no problem. Even at low boost, you should hit ~198 mph (with ~450 rwhp). That's way beyond what I have ever been (161 mph in my stock 1994 and 1998 LS 400, downhill). 756 hp means approx. 235 mph with stock body (no extra wing) with optimum gearing (peak power rpm at top speed), judging by the 177+ mph unlimited top speed of the completely stock Supra TT at 320 hp.

u got ls400's? thats sweet! are you on club lexus? at 23 psi i make 756 wheel. fastest i have went is 184 ish. 756 cant get me to 235 bro, i wish. my buddies hold highest top speed with supra's right now. one has 1700 wheel hp and the other i forgot.. he hit 256 mph on the texas mile. look up supra texas mile.. should be able to find it.

@sanramondrift Now I just have one 1998 LS 400. My first LS 400 was 1994 with moon roof, the better audio option, but it had no air suspension. Then I also had a British (RHD) 1992 LS 400 (for a short while). But my 1998 LS 400 suits me well. Of course it is heavy and slow, despite having the cats removed by the previous owner (so it has 300 PS (maybe ~295 hp) instead of 284 PS). But with manually delaying the 1st - 2nd gear automatic shifting point etc., I did 0 - 100 kph in 6.1x (0-62.13 mph).

@sanramondrift The 235 mph I mentioned are a theoretical value, if you changed JUST the hp. If a car does 177 mph with 320 hp and you don't change anything (size, shape, tires, weight) and push the power to 756 hp, the top speed will change with the third root of the hp increase. So 2.3625 times more hp = 1.3318 times top speed. This means just keeping the original gear ratios and changing the final drive by 1.3318. OF COURSE IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MILES TO ACHIEVE THAT SPEED.

@sanramondrift The Veyron does 253.81 mph at 987 hp and the Veyron Super Sport 267.85 mph from 1184 hp. It takes a LOOONG distance to get there. Your friends 256 in just 1 mile is total awesomeness. But a 1700 hp Supra woud, given optimum gearing and unlimited flat and straight distance with the original shape/size/weight (of a completely stock Supra), achieve 1.744 times the original top speed (308 mph). Of course EVERYTHING would have to be redone/reinforced and it would take maybe 10 miles.

@jakubkrcma so either the 355 is overrated for its specs and its speed or the supra is underrated. we have done 0-60 specs with my friends supra with just wider tires so it can grip and it was in the 4.1 sec range. notice how the wheels and tires aren't stock in the movie supra. we all have one thing in common when know the physics in the F&F movies are not real. i mean damn the eclipse at the beginning shifts 7 times... lol the barracuda does a burn out and a wheelie at the same time....

@sanramondrift I am NOT taking FF seriously! I am taking the SUPRA they used in that movie seriously. They did some SERIOUS work on it (look it up and see the part list - wheels, brakes, suspension, engine, styling, EVERYTHING). They say the car has Lexus reliability, Viper killing cornering, etc. It's NOT $150 k just because it was in a STUPID movie about racing girls, it is a TRUE GEM. It was great BEFORE the movie.

I also clearly stated that the Supra used in the movie would beat the Ferrari by a large margin. YOU started the argument by claiming that a stock Supra does 0-60 in 4.1, which is not true. So, despite I DO BELIEVE your modified Supras etc. are excellent, I simply corrected that statement about the STOCK.

@sanramondrift No RWD 1,566 kg (3,452 lbs) / 320 hp car does 0-60 mph in 4.1 s using stock tires. That's TOTAL nonsense. For 4.1 s in such a relatively heavy car, you need at least 400 hp even with optimized gearing (specifically for the best achievable 0-60).

all i do is work on 2jz's and supras, all freakin day! a custom single turbo? what makes it custom? low boost on my sc300 2jzgte its making roughly 450wheel hp and just at 23 psi i make 756 wheel hp. i have no idea what you are proving my posting fake information when any able body person can just google 355 spider and see that its slow. so run and tell dat, HOMEBOY. lol
