  • I think one of the most underrated song ever created is To Live Is To Die - Metallica

This is probably the greatest instrumental ever created and is extremely emotional, due to its dedication to their deceased bassist cliff burton. It describes almost every emotion possible, and I believe is a truly a master piece, give it a look you won't regret it :)

Make sure to listen to the WHOLE song

  • Even if you think the list is fake or promotional , its still a very interesting collection of songs. I have looked up several of the songs on the list and discovered new artists for me to listen to.

    stop hating

  • I love how Ringo's face pops every like.. second time :D

  • the Year is 3500.....

"Hey man did you hear that Rolling Stones magazine revised a new list of the top 500 EVER!!!"

"No way man get outta town!"

"YEAH THIS ONE HAS LIKE 2 NEW ARTISTS ADDED ONTO IT"

"Umm, since it was revised when the 2000's started?"

    "YEAH, why is something wrong?"

    "Nevermind"

  • holy shit 8 songs from the Beatles.the Beatles rock

  • What is your name again?...heh heh.

  • Imagine should have bin topped the countdown (#1), in my opinion...

  • The top 10 should be any song by Led Zeppelin. Yes that's right ANY song because Led did not have one bad song so you can pick and choose whatever makes you smile :D. And then after that 11-100 you can pick whatever.

  • WTF....where is GNR and Metallica ...LOL

  • ok this is pretty good but really, smells like teen spirit?? whens the hype about that song gonna end?? it makes me want to know what the qualities make a song the best of all time. consistant four chord pattern with close to meaningless lyrics.. i just dont understand..

  • @oObadphishOo Don't over-analyse it. Good songs don't have to be complicated, a good song is a good song, why would it stop being that?

  • I totally just jammed out to all those songs!

  • @zelinna12 Queen did have songs on the list, just not in the top 100

  • LOL everyone's raging cause their favorite song isn't on it. just cause it didn't make 1 magazines top 500 isnt a direct insult to you or the artists like...

  • LMAO this list is a total piece of shit & waste of time since there is not 1 Queen song, Bohemien Rhapsody, has made several lists as the greatest song ever written, Rolling Stone is a fucking joke anyway, they pimped Bieber which someone here already said so that shows you there credibility lol

The fact none of Queen's songs that Freddie Mercury wrote is even on this list shows how out of touch they are, not in the top 100 of best songs? go suck it RS

  • @Zelinna12

LOL Bohemian Rhapsody is mediocre at best. It's far from being the greatest of all time

  • @gmarvin271 Bohemian rhapsody is not the best but it is still a legendary song

  • great doesn't always mean good.

  • Love how many beatles songs r on this (check the username )

  • Fans of these acts, but Beatles (including "Imagine"), Stones & Dylan making up 50% of this whole list is a joke. So many good, popular and influential songs missing. Elton John, Queen, Metallica, Skynyrd, Guns n' Roses, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath - All not featured on the list. Odd... Also... Why is Nirvana getting another generous spot? Why do I say "another"? Rolling Stone ranked Kurt Cobain at #12 on their 100 Best Guitarists and put Eddie Van-Halen at #70. Silly...

  • @MattOuellette88

They made a new "Top 100 guitarists" lists and Kurt Cobain is #73 and Eddie Van Halen is #8

  • @MattOuellette88 if you look at the full list all the other bands you listed are on there

  • And No Ozzy or Sabbath? Fuck off Rolling Stone.

  • No Queen and No Pink Floyd.....Rolling Stone- go back to pimping out Justin Beiber- that seems to be the only thing you know how to do these days.

  • And those that say this list is based on influence.....Queen never influenced anyone?!

  • I can't believe there is no Queen anywhere in the top 100. This list is null & void. There are at least 2 or 3 of their songs that should be in that list.

  • fuck rolling stone where the heck is bohemian rhapsody

  • @estebanribero09

    Rolling Stone hates Queen

  • "Rolling Stone" mag picks "Like a Rolling Stone" as #1 and Satisfaction by "The Rolling Stones" as #2. Good thing "Stone Rollers" isn't a song.

  • so no pink floyd but a million songs from the over rated Beatles

  • @TheJdog1200

No Beatles = No British Invasion = No Pink Floyd.

    Your comment is invalid....

  • @TheJdog1200 Beatles aren't over-rated, dude.

  • 1MICHAEL JACKSON 2 NWA 3 QUEEN

  • pink floyds highest song in the 300's?? weird....

  • Top 2 deffinately dont deserve it, i can think of so many better songs

  • @andyevs10191 The list is going by influence, not over-all quality.

  • c0Me 0n Baby Light My Fire, That The Doors Should Be More Higher... l0l

  • Agree, Number 1 should be Dylan but Stairway should be WAY higher!

  • Jimi Hendrix vs Chuck Berry vs Elvis Presley...

    Who wins?

  • @Savemefromhelen Jimi Hendrix Of Course

  • Allow me to sum up Rolling Stone magazine.

-Green Day is still a "Punk" band

-Pink Floyd is the only prog. rock band in history

-The greatest bands ever are 1. The Beatles, 2. Nirvana, 3. U2

  • @bwc3821 Green Day is more a punk band now if you look at the absolute definition of punk than they were with the pop-punk releases of albums like dookie with songs about masturbating. Just sayin'

  • Dear God:

We will trade you Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ke$ha, and Rebecca Black in exchange for music to be returned to the glory it once was instead of the inside stall of the men's room that it is now.

    Sincerely;

    Everyone who watches this video.

  • some biast for the first two?

  • great, now i have to see what @cuteflygon said huh

  • "hey Jude-Ahhhrhhrah" 0:19

  • TOO BAD HALF OF THE MAGAZINE IS DEDICATED TO WHAT"S ON TV.

  • For many, many years since the mid-70s, radio stations across America did a survey of their listening area for the greatest songs each New Year's Eve. Repeatedly, Stairway to Heaven was number one across the country. Now, Rolling Stone mag lies to create "talk", to get "things stirred up." It is the same thing sports journalist do when talking about the greatest basketball player. Everyong knows it is Michael Jordan, but people say different things to get people talking. I will read RS agai

  • They all are classics but the list isn't well-organised

  • MR TAMBOURINE MAN IS A BOB DYLAN SONG!!!

  • thumbs up for bob dylan!

  • Not Fantastic, considering Pink Floyd hasn't appered yet, but still good

  • @MrLime528 The snub on Pink Floyd is very significant. It shows that Rolling Stone (who ripped off their name from the band,) is an uncultured, philistine group, only interested in creating "noise" rather than truthful, objective journalism. I don't read the magazine anymore.

  • A Day in the life at 26? Thats idiotic.

  • england rule

  • Sorry to see Ike Turner get credit for "River Deep...Mountain High" when it was ALL Tina Turner and Phil Spector. I think Phil, to keep Ike out of it, either paid Ike off or threatening to kill the SOB so that he could bring Tina to a whole new level. Most likely, Phil did both.

  • And in addition, why are they all MALE singers. Such a fking biased version.

  • @cuteflygon 0:15, 0:48, 1:17, 1:33, 2:50, 3:31, and 3:38. What was your question again?

  • @iceman34m Congratulations. Out of 100 songs u managed to find out less than 10. Good job, this list totally unbiased because male to female artist ratio is definitely 1:10

  • @cuteflygon In some cases males are better than females, and some cases females are better than males. Really stop acting like a baby and just listen to the great songs.

  • @cuteflygon The fact is the music you listen to will be forgotten about in 5 years, every song in this list are absolute classics and the people that wrote them are most talented and inspirational artists that exist. Once you have grown up a bit your little brain might be able to comprehend the impact these artists had on the music industry and even the world... I did say MIGHT though. and btw before you starting say "Your an old geezer" im 18. Also there was a severe lack of queen in this list.

  • @Pr0jectSound And no, don't assume please. I do not like most of the pop songs today because i personally feel that they are garbage, except a few good ones of course. Instead, i prefer the 1980s-1990s era. Yes, it's true that some songs here are great but most do not deserve top 100. this list is just so biased towards rock and roll genre, as if it's the best music era. I will most certainly forget most of these songs faster as compared to some better songs thats not on the list.

  • @cuteflygon 1 Rock n roll isn't a music era its a music genre and 2. There is a lot of rock but i think your getting your genres mixed up. There is Rock, Rock n roll, Blues, Soul etc genres which i guess you could say are the founding fathers of the music we listen today. The up beat tempo of some soul songs probably inspired the dance/RnB music we hear today. The thing is Most DO deserve the top 100 as they have had an impact on the world that other music has not. and thats fact, not opinion.

  • @Pr0jectSound All right, it's true that those songs which revolutionized music deserves this title. Sorry for my superficial thinking. Maybe im too accustomed to the Pop genre.

  • i think the band that mostly apears are the beatles

  • Bet it's written by some old freak who grew up in the 1970s,

  • @cuteflygon

This list was voted on by over 150 musicians.

You're probably some teenage douchebag who listens to lil wayne, kesha, lady gaga or some shit. Respect the classics and get the fuck out.

  • @gmarvin271 Oh, yes you are right about the part of me being a teenager. Aww... Mad because you're an old freak with horrible taste for music? I bet those 150 musicians are all 70 year old geezers that cannot conform and advance with the music industry and sadly you are one of them.

  • @cuteflygon

I'm 23 and if you call this horrible taste in music I don't want to know what you listen to because, like I said, you're just a douchebag teen who conforms with every other one of your high school douche friends and listens to a bunch of mainstream bullshit like crappy rappers and auto-tuned singers with synthesised beats. This is real music.

  • @gmarvin271 Yes, i totally agree with your view. Just because i do not agree with the song on this lists, i love songs that are auto-tuned or rapping. Yes, of course, many great songs by carpenters, madonna, beyonce etc are all rapping and auto tuning. I agree rapping is horrible but auto-tuning isn't that bad as it really corrects the pitch of voices, just like what cosmetic products does to people's face. They improves on the imperfection and if thats not the case, auto-tune wont even be pop.

  • @gmarvin271 To be fair this was mainstream music back then. what makes it good is not that few people listen to it or that it's not "main stream." What makes it good is how we feel when we listen to it.

  • @gmarvin271

I'm 17, and I agree with you 100%. The gods of rock are dying, and no one is there to replace them. It's sad.

  • @Savemefromhelen

I don't think they can be replaced anyway. In 30 years people will still be talking about The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, yet no one will even remember the name of any current music star.

  • @gmarvin271

    I just hope you're right...

  • @gmarvin271 If I may join in, I'm 15 and agree with most if not all of the choices on this list.

So the person you're talking to is just an idiot.

  • @razorath92

    Exactly.

And a lot of these people are whining because there favorite songs weren't on the list. This list is based on influence and not by which song is the catchiest. I shake my head whenever I see a comment that says "OMG bohemian rhapsody not # 1!!!"

It's cool that you listen to this type of music at that age though.

  • 90% of the songs sucks to me LMAO..

  • @cuteflygon 100% of songs u listen to suck ROFLMFAO

  • how do you measure greatness??????????????

  • FUCK THE ROLLING STONES AND THE ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE!!!!!

  • They shouldve picked a #1 and 2 song that's good and not just because it has rolling stone in it.

  • 1. Stairway to Heaven

    2. Hey Jude

    3. Bohemian Rhapsody

    4. Thriller

    5. Wish You Were Here

  • @ALLNEWSUNNY nice list i would say the same

  • evety second song is by The Beatles...hard to argue with it tho

  • this is the worst list of any category ive ever seen.

  • Long ago i used to have respect forRolling Stone magazine but nowadays i use it mostly for when i run out of toilet paper

  • HURT-JOHNNY CASH?

  • @punkfan96 Johnny Cash's ersion is the best, but he didn't originally do it. It was a Nine Inch Nails song.

  • 1.- Stairway To Heaven

    2.- Comfortably Numb

    3.- Bohemian Rhapsody

  • Grandmaster Flash at #51? Better than I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Crazy, or My Girl??? That has got to be a mistake or thrown in there to create controversy. I love the Beatles. But way too many on the list for my taste. Nothing from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, I'm suprised. Happy to see A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke close to the top. One of my absolute favorites.

  • @saylorhaven I like grandmaster flash, but agree that there's no point putting so many beatles tracks on there. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin sung better than half of the people in this list put together, but the Rolling Stone writers know too little about music to be qualified in writing this list.

  • @FlourescentPotato By the looks of it their idea of the greatest songs created were when Elvis came on the scene and pretty much up to 1980. Majority of the songs listed came out during that time period. I wish another reputable source would come up with a list but this time span a much longer period of time and more genres of music. I can't believe that the greatest songs are mostly rock n roll, a few country songs thrown in there and one or two rap songs. I think I'll make my own list. lol

  • @saylorhaven They are so biased towards rock music, the beatles and other similar artists. I think I could write a better list in a day ;)

  • ELVIS THE BEST.

  • Pink Floyd isnt in here because Pink Floyd has its own list!

  • Nirvanaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • Where the hell is guns and roses welcome to the jungle??? This is bullshit

  • I noticed Dr. Hook was conspicuously left off of the list. :)

  • where's american pie?

  • This Why I am Alive

  • The list should just be called "Greatest songs of the 60's" or "The Beatles, Bob Dylan + the rest".

No pink floyd on the list, no Queen, none of their songs could get into the top 100 but worst of all only one Michael jackson song "Billie Jean" at #58?

  • @omario8816 lol My thoughts precisely.

  • Would everyone please stop bitching about rolling stone and this list...they didn't just have some editor choose the songs, they were voted on by around 200 musicians and musical critics. No shit you have a different opinion, its the greatest songs ever, they have to draw from MILLIONS, they're aren't saying this is fact, its just compiled generally accepted views. Its fine to have a different opinion, whatever, but don't get pissy about the list just cuz your favorites didn't make the cut

  • i agree that they put good vibrations and my generation so high :) but alotta stuff on the list was blown way out of proportion..where the fuck is "wouldnt it be nice"?

  • Spirits in the Night? Mack the Knife? Changes (David Bowie). The Future (Leonard Cohen). Is that all there is? (Peggy Lee). No really, is that all there is? (then let's keep dancing ....)

  • Weres dont stop beliveing by journey. Best kareoky song ever I dont know how to spell lol

  • this top includes only songs which have lyrics in english?

  • Yawn, Zzzzzz, What a one track mind! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz

  • bohemian rhapsody in #165 place???

  • Jewish Rolling Stone magazine promotes Jewish "artists"

  • where the hell is bohemian rhaposdy!?!?!?1

  • No Queen?

  • Thank You, Now I Know All Of 100 Songs, I Know more than 80 songs

  • #99 <3

  • #50!!! and #58!!! <3 <3 <3

  • Came here to beef up my iPod, but I have most of these songs already, cool

  • @MrPingasPower PINK FLOYD take just dark side of the moon, 2nd biggest album of all time THRILLER #1.OK not one of these songs on the list, starting with best!wish you were here, time, run like hell, comfortably numb, money, high hopes, another brick in the wall, take it back, one slip, shine on your crazy diamond!,THIS LIST. pink floyd probably sold more albums, than the top 20 bands on this list COMBINED!!!

  • @IMINTHEMOMENTRU SALES almost ruined rock.Because most of the artists made a contract and they have to kiss the ass of their label and they write songs to respect the contract....please musis is art not a product that must be saled

  • @IMINTHEMOMENTRU Music isn't about record sales...

  • @IMINTHEMOMENTRU Pink Floyd definitely hasn't sold more albums than The Beatles. Only two recording artists has ever sold 1 billion or more albums: The Beatles and Elvis. Michael Jackson is 3rd at 750 million +.. Pink Floyd definitely isn't in the TOP 3.

  • @TheLuscious you may be right, and i totally agree with you, but i heard somewhere that pink floyds "Dark side of the moon" was rated as the greatest album of all time, but not the best selling album of all time, so your logic is correct

  • @TheLuscious yes but pink floyd still fuckin rocks

  • @IMINTHEMOMENTRU

I agree that they should be on here but really? Better than the top 20 bands. You may be obsessed. They are great but not THAT great.

  • Q:Why no pink Floyd or American pie, rolling stone?

    A: Successful troll is successful.

  • Let me explain you the thought of The Rolling Stone Magazine about music: Beatles, Beatles, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Rolling Stones, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys.

  • @matman000000

This is the most truthful comment on here.

  • your shitting me right, pink floyd doesnt even have one song on there!!! theres so many pink floyd songs that are better than any of the songs on this list.

  • Was surprised to even see Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes at number 22. That has to be the best song in the last 50 years, IMO! If you don't believe me, ask Eddie Money.

  • How about "The Twist" by Chubby Checker???

  • I don't usually complain at lists like these , but Stairway to heaven isn't even in the top 5?

  • @rossi1605

That's because Stairway to Heaven is the most overrated song of all time with the exception of Bohemian Rhapsody.

  • @gmarvin271 i hope your joking

  • @rossi1605

I'm not just stating my opinion... and I could name so many better songs than those 2 but I must admit that Stairway to Heaven is a good song while Bohemian Rhapsody is just straight up garbage.

  • @gmarvin271 Bohemian Rhapsody is a song that stood out from any others, you may not like it but it has inspired so many

  • @rossi1605

    to each his own

  • michael jackson <3

  • There should be more MJ, especially any song from the album Thriller take your pick, there is a reason it's the highest selling album of all time

  • @HaYdOs234 The virtue of a song isn't measured in money.

  • Billie Jean #58 WTF come on!

  • Hey Wait, Where's Something by The Beatles?? Or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen?? Or In Bloom by Nirvana??

  • No Queen? wth

  • Where the fuck is "Summer Madness"?

  • this list isnt giving me any satisfaction......

  • i used to rule the world, seas would rise when i gave the word, now in the morning i sleep alone, sweep the streets i used to own... -i know i'm a good songwriter-..

  • Mick Jagger has a beautiful voice.

    Just like an angel.

    <3

  • Comment removed

  • where is bohemisn rapsody

  • one dosnt even get a full second, and why the most queit part of stairway, lame

  • 50 Cent - In Da Club, cmon at least top 10

  • 1. Satisfaction

    2. Like a Rolling Stone

    3. Johnny B Goode

    4. Smells Like Teen Spirit

    5. Stairway

  • Im sorry but I cant let it go unnoticed that The Beatles have the most songs in the 500. So all this nonsense of other people being so great needs to stop. We all know who the real greatest is..... The Beatles duh

  • Where is American Pie, Bohemian Rhapsody, He aint Heavy He's my Brother, Another Brick in the Wall (or any Pink Floyd Song), Wind Of Change. But this 100 has Like A Rolling Stone #1 and Stairway to Heaven #31. WTF Rolling Stone

  • Thumps If you think that Mj is the best!

  • you may think stairway should be 1st or bohemian rhapsody or even something from michael jackson, but take any song you know and compare it to like a rolling stone or i cant get no satisfaction - it doesnt even come close.

  • metal bands like metallica and maiden are discriminated. so if master of puppets can be said to be the greatest metal song of all time, why can't it make the top 500 of all time??? \m/

  • @amcoho4 Good point. But on that logic a lot of genres aren't included.

  • @1wertyuiop1wertyuiop which is why the list sucks

  • for what its worth by buffalo springfeild is the most under rated song of all time!!!!

    1 Stairway to heaven

    2 bohemian rhapsody

    3 hey jude

    4 smells like teen spirit

5 for what its worth :)

  • oh, and so was Mr. Tambourine Man. Bob Dylan song. with someone elses name on it. why didn't they put Van Halen's name on The Kinks' song? hmm..

  • understood Jimmy Hendrix made the song popular, but All Along The Watchtower

was written by Bob Dylan, so why would you put Jimmy's name on Bob's song? i think Rolling Stone's retards didn't realize this. good list though.

  • @riffraffskater They were talking about his version, dingus.

  • This is a great list, it involves all styles from all ages and since i found it i discovered many new songs that are favourites of mine now!

I love the rolling stone list and its...

AHH FORGETT ABOUT IT WHY THE FUCK IS SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE NOT 1!!!!

  • I disagree with the order just as much as anyone. But come on, It's impossible to satisfy everyone.

  • @cclemontaker yeah but when the beatles have like 100 songs in the top 500 it's pretty absurd.

  • Stairway 31 ? Little wing 357 ? yeah shit list

  • I like how when they did the song one by u2 it was like .2 seconds long

  • love how yu gave michael jackson not even a second of play... wow he didnt even get to say billie jean n yu cut it off.

  • Every person has his or her own taste of music, that's why you can't compose one general list called "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". To one person the Stones are really important and he's not interested in "modern" rock, another person maybe loves Bon Jovi and doesn't give a fuck about Bob Marley. That's music, and that's why there is more than one artist in the charts (except for now, Lady Gaga rules everything). Looking at this aspect, I think the list isn't as bad as some might say.

  • WHERE THE FUCKING FUCK IS THRILLER?!

    R.I.P Michael<3<3<3

  • they have an 2010 updated list this is the 2004 list :)

  • where the fuck is thriller?

  • am I blind or what?no QUEEN???I have never felt so angry in my life.EVERY SINGLE THEIR SONG SHOULD BE IN TOP 100 and Bohemian Rhapsody should be #1 right behore Stairway to Heawen,Hotel California and Comfortably Numb(Pink Floyd).and The Doors should be higher than #35.

  • I like bob dylan but this song shouldnt be 1# stairway to heaven should have been or johnny b goode you know songs people love and feel like part of rock history but well its just my opinion

  • 1. Stairway to Heaven

    2. Bohemian Rhapsody

    3. Smells Like Teen Spirit

    4. Let it Be

    5. Paranoid Android (Hey, nothing wrong with some Radiohead too)
