Isn't this funny? This is a video game based on a movie, which is based on video games. The movie basically discusses how cool it would be if your reality was a videogame, with rules that can be "broken" (like cheats in a video game), and this is a video game of a movie which imagines what life would be like as a video game. This movie discusses the philosophical ideas of free will $ determinism, the brain and the vat philosophy element, existentialism, and what it means to discern what reality is. So no the movie is not based on a "video game" but it discusses philosophy. Why do you think they talk about choice? And human constructs and reality and stuff? Because these are all philosophical topics. The wikipedia article on the matrix gives a good summary. Check it out.

indeed. the last movie is a fight against the concept of causality that controlled them in the first two films. infact, if you notice, the final fight scene has the best argument. Neo ends the fight by stopping the fight. literally. At first he he keeps fighting and said it was choice (because he hates the not being in control of his destiny) but then remembers that what the oracle told him. the balance. they are opposites. all of life is, is simply balance. the tai chi.he restored that balance
