The song is a reference to former Pennsylvania state treasurer Budd Dwyer and his public suicide... Filter said the didn't want to glorify suicide but the phrase 'hey man, nice shot' is to to show the determination it takes to stand up for what you believe in... I don't know the whole story of Budd Dwyer but I do know he shot himself during a live press conference following some bad shit in his life... Wikipedia it for more, i guess =D
Um... "kirk Cobine"? Kids these days... sigh... okay, say it with me, KURT COBAIN. And what does this song have to do with Kurt Cobain? Now, run along and brush up on your '90s musicians before putting your foot in your mouth again.
This song is about R. Budd Dwyer. Pensylvania State Treasurer who was facing up to 55 years in jail for agreeing on a kickback of 300,000 dollars from the California-based Computer Technology Associates. So he called a press conference still saying he was innocent and at the end on live tv he blew his brains out in front of a national tv audience.
He (the lead singer of Filter) was in the original Nine Inch Nails band line up, so you aren't that far off. Also, he happens to be the brother of Robert Patrick... the dude who played the T1000 in Terminator 2 :)
Well he played all but the drums, but he didn't have a band member that was his drummist. So you are correct, unless he was live that is a band defualtly
its not really "out of nowhere" as much as it was on live television. he was already convicted and was probably gonna rot in jail. but damn, suicide on TV, that's something else.
yeah lol i remember that, it went perfectly with that scene. other good songs used perfectly in that movie is blind by silverchair and more human than human by white zombie.
its about budd dwyer... Look, i kinda understand people mistakin' it for kurt cobain, but how and the hell did you come up with that??? Its about sucide... Not standing up for what you believe in...
Its about suicide and standing up for what you belive in..Hes saying it was a nice shot because he stood up for his beliefs enough to take his life for it..
I remember many years ago this vi was on Bevis and butthead, they would fall asleep during the soft spots and the hard spot would wake them up and theyd b angry. anyway i like this song
It's about Budd Dwyer, who took (publicly in a press conference) his own life after been found guilty in a trial. He insisted on his own innocense to the end.
Just found this song in Guitar Hero World Tour. Man this thing rocks so hard. I bought the game for the Tool bits, but this one is almost better! For right now anyways :-)
when someone is as old as Mr.Dwyer and not accused of any crimes that hurt anyone but money, or his own misplaced greed is at fault. I do not think spending the rest of his life in jail would have been fair. If it was Cheney, and we all know cheney has done waay worse things than dwyer ever did. It would have all got swept under the carpet.
Ya, Bud Dwyer would kill himself on live t.v. He passed I believe three letters, that were suicide notes. He was looking at between one year up two five in prison. By killing himself he secured over a million dollars for his family, instead of paying a amount back. If you type in Bill Dwyer, the video should still be on the internet; I do worn you it is graphic.
He was offered up to 5 years in prison if he confessed, but he was innocent(i think thats the public oppinion) and refused, so he was later sentenced to 55 years in prison and had to pay 300.000$ back. guess he wasnt so happy with that..So he proved a pretty grafic point..
do yourslelf a favor, look up "constitutional convention" on Ytube, or "article 5". Hope you guys are good shots!!!!!!! B.T.W. China wishes you a merry christmas.

actually, the guitar line from the chorus of this song, is the same guitar line from the chorus of "ungod" by stabbing westward. Stuart Zechman played guitar for both bands, and recorded the guitar riff for both songs. only he recorded it for this song years after the stabbing westward song.
it's about the public suicide of PA state treasurer Budd Dwyer. if you look up this song on wikipedia, there is a link down at the bottom that actually has the video of it. it's pretty messed up.

Believe it's about Bud Dwyer. Politician who shot himself during a televised public meeting.
