This game, halo , is the first on everything... and the best 1st person shooters i ever played....as soon as you take that flag you are basically a moving target... as soon as you get in the tank you are the greatest danger... as soon as you are seen with the sniper rifle you are getting assasinated.... the longer you stay alive the more chances you get to die... this game summons up all your feelings...all your strenght.... once you play once... you keep playing till the end..so play forever :)

I do enjoy these games. They don't represent anything particularly special for games in general though - they really don't. If I were to be enthusiastic about a groundbreaking FPS that had great influence on the industry then I'd go with Half-Life, or Quake, or DOOM.

hmm. grenade button, melee button, recharging shield, manageable vehicles, 2 weapon toggle, zoom toggle.

Control scheme is the ONLY reason halo is what it is. Maybe it didnt do diddly for PC's but for console's it was THE ONLY shooter till Halo2.

Remember how people only played like Perfect dark or goldeneye or random Bond games, literally you had like 17 guns and melee and grenade were one of those and you had too shuffle through to get them. This is where Halo changed EVERYTHING

2 weapon toggle is used in Half-Life: Counter-Strike, grenade button is used in Team Fortress Classic, melee button used in Soldier of Fortune, just for the record, but those games were not released for console... Zoom toggle? Get real, man...The vehicles were very good though.

I loved the first Halo because it was fresh and offered elements not seen in a video game, but from there it got bland. I'd love to see Bungie make an enhanced version of the first game. Regardless how good these new FPS' are, Halo in 2001 was an amazing game, though it could've been better had it not been rushed by Microsoft.

Why can the assault rifle on halo 3 only hold 32 bullets while it can hold 60 on halo. Also why does the assault rifle on Halo 3 make a craskling noise while the rifle on halo has a deeper grinding noise. They're almost like 2 different weapons; the halo 1 version is better in my opinion, and the Halo 1 pistol looks cooler than the pstols in the other 2 games.

Republic Commando's MP was very disappointing... it was just deathmatch, team deathmatch and CTF ("Assault" was just reverse CTF). it was just like any other FPS except you had limited carrying capacity (and weapons slow you down the bigger they are), reloading, and rifle butts. It was nowhere near as complex as the squad based, gadget and class using, strategic SP.

Endless boring corridors and literally hundreds of identical enemies to shoot. In the level where you have to shoot all those 'flud' things I was begging for it to end, it was the same thing over and over again. How can anyone find that enjoyable?
