I treasure my American-made van. I bought it for its five-star safety rating (since I'm a Mom), and by golly, did it earn those stars! It helped to prevent an accident that would have been so horrific -- if my American van and camping trailer hadn't leaped so beautifully onto the shoulder -- that a good many people would have certainly died, including my loved ones. The main problem is financing. More banks are pulling out of the auto industry due to the poor economy and making it more difficult for the average person with good credit to get a loan. Let's say if your score is 700 which is very good. Banks will now say that is not good enough you will have to have 750 or above to finance a car or truck. I think that someone has to reason with the these loan companies to save U.S. jobs and put American engineering back on the map again.

We use same suppliers, and the big three owes these suppliers hundreds of millions of dollars, and if these suppliers do not get their money, we dont get our parts from them because they cant pay their own bills. Because these execs cant figure out how to run a business, and unwillingness to chang is going to bring us all down with them!

My Toyota dealership autoshop is only open 40 hours a week and closed on weekends because their cars never need fixing. The autoshops in the dealerships of the Big 3 have to run 24 hours a day 6 days a week to fix all their garbage. Ever see a auto worker from the big 3? The auto industry HAS to restructure and denying the bailout is a good idea. I call it the Apollo 13 principle which required considerable ingenuity under extreme pressure ..you have a very short amount of time to fit a square peg in a round hole. I find it interesting that the CEO's seemed too stuck-up to take commercial planes. I felt it was a very telling moment because it exposed their contempt for people. Yet, we, the people, are whom they expect to buy their cars. And they claim they need it for security LOL! NOBODY would recognize these clowns from anywhere. And thats why they were getting their ass chewed up! Just because you have the money to do something doesnt mean you should do it. They are asking for money when they can sell their jets. Mullaly from chrystler made 28 million last year. they should get their salaries sliced the hell up (no more than 400,000 a year) and they should sell their jets. They should burn to the fucking ground and be forced to resructure.

I treasure my American-made van. I bought it for its five-star safety rating (since I'm a Mom), and by golly, did it earn those stars! It helped to prevent an accident that would have been so horrific -- if my American van and camping trailer hadn't leaped so beautifully onto the shoulder -- that a good many people would have certainly died, including my loved ones. Instead, the tractor-trailer + jumbo pickup head-on collision didn't happen.

The main problem is financing. More banks are pulling out of the auto industry due to the poor economy and making it more difficult for the average person with good credit to get a loan. Let's say if your score is 700 which is very good. Banks will now say that is not good enough you will have to have 750 or above to finance a car or truck. I think that someone has to reason with the these loan companies to save U.S. jobs and put American engineering back on the map again.

I agree with you, but I work for a foreign auto (successful) company here in Ohio, and let me tell you that they are bringing the WHOLE industry down with them. We use same suppliers, and the big three owes these suppliers hundreds of millions of dollars, and if these suppliers do not get their money, we dont get our parts from them because they cant pay their own bills. Because these execs cant figure out how to run a business, and unwillingness to chang is going to bring us all down with them!

I find it difficult to beleive, the goverment bailed out the banks who created this mess (house bubble, credit bubble, etc) without any hearing and they question American companies and make it hard for them to be bailed out, they where affected by the bank mess TOO !!! since people didn't want to buy cars to be able to pay for their houses. I don't have any problem with GM, Ford and Chrysler cars, they're good I have a dodge neon 95 and it hasn't given me any trouble, IT'S ALL DIRTY PROPAGANDA.

My Toyota dealership autoshop is only open 40 hours a week and closed on weekends because their cars never need fixing. The autoshops in the dealerships of the Big 3 have to run 24 hours a day 6 days a week to fix all their garbage. Ever see a auto worker from the big 3? They look like bums while Toyota workers look like lab technicians and clean.Also no union.

The auto industry HAS to restructure and denying the bailout is a good idea. I call it the Apollo 13 principle which required considerable ingenuity under extreme pressure ..you have a very short amount of time to fit a square peg in a round hole. We have very smart people in the US with very good ideas and it's time to put the screws to some of these companies and make them realize that change and restructuring are necessary for the environment, economy, and health of the global population.
