@Miikaika25 yup, it is in my opinion. Especially the conjugation of irregular verbs, even native speakers can't learn it properly. In Argentina you will hear a lot of people using the conditionals incorrectly, for example.
Plus there are genders in every noun and its article has to match it. All the verbs have the person, number and tense all "integrated", and you should be able to tell just hearing it. (ie. "comió" is the 3rd person singular, in the preterit tense. In English it is "He ate")
I wish schools in America taught foreign languages at a younger age. I went to public school for elementary and I didn't really start taking a foreign language until high school when I entered a private school. I'm taking French now and I just wish I had started a little earlier! :(
@bbhoodmel it is never late. You can even match the learning speed of a kid with the proper motivation AND need.
Go to an immersion program, with only anglo speakers. Or even better go to England or America (don't go to the big cities), that will force you to learn English to socialize, and you will improve much more quicker than you thought. Having a boyfriend/girlfriend who speaks ONLY the language you want to learn is proven to accelerate the learning speed as fast as a kid.
U.S. schools ought to reward language study. (I know You're an "American" cuz they're the only one's clueless enough to refer to themselves as such.) I really wanna study french some day, cuz I feel it's important for a mastery of English. I never attended a private school in my life, but started studding Russian in junior High cuz I enrolled. Do you want forced enrollment ? Can I study French? I'm studying plant identification now, but wish I had started earlier.
I'm sorry... I didn't realize I was offending anyone by referring to it as America. As far as I know "American" is the correct term for someone from the US. And I certainly wasn't whining. I was just saying that I think I would be on a much higher level with my French if I had started earlier.. And I didn't say anything about forced enrollment either. I got to choose the language I take now and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I guess I may not understand what you're trying to say...
I never started to learn a second language until High School. English is my first language but I learned Spanish and am learning Japanese now. My school offers SO many languages to learn including spanish, french, arabic, japanese, russian, sign language, and german. It's impressive, really.
You see this is great. In America the schools don't start at an early age teaching the children another language. I mean, would it not be logical that we be required to learn the language of our neighboring country? Now I'm 20 and I'm learning Spanish in my free time. Thanks America, you're so superior! :-P
i know i'm 14 and i'm bilingual in spanish and english but i SERIOUSLY wanna learn german and it's like the high school i'm going to only teaches french [which ive been learning for 2 years]...but still i wish they'd make us learn languages SOONER..like WAY sooner lol
It's not America's fault that other nations feel the need to teach thier kids english. It's just a coincidence because of the British Empire's dominance during the colonial age follwed then America's cultural and political explosion during the 20th century.
What I don't like, is that I never had any desire to learn spanish but that is all the schools in my area offer. I'd much rather learn German, Japanese, and Latin.
yes you most start in 8th or 9th grade.. the older you are the harder it is for you to learn another language.. my friend's neice is 4 and can speak 4 languages prettyt well.. its insane..
when i was learning french at school this certainly would have helped.
i like the latin impression of english. i know some americans don't but i do. maybe because i support Liverpool FC and we have a lot of spanish players...and the fact my Dads Brasilian
That was an excellent video! They're doing a great job! :) I love that you have something physical for them to see and touch when they are learning. It helps greatly.
would anyone say it is easier to learn english then spanish?

I have exactly the same regrets...But with English...I started to learn English at 11 years old and in my opinion it's already too late...

cry me a river. Okay, I wish I had learned a 2nd language when I was really young, but I was fortunate enough to start learning Chinese at 26.
