  • @2:00 Dr. Addis says "What we dont have is a context where young boys and men can come together and interact with an intimacy not based on violence." That is kinda creepy. You are not supposed to be intimate with young boys doc! I agree with others Addis is a Low T coward. CONTEXT is everything... This is not bullying... In fact I doubt bullies would last very long at one of these meetings.

  • Anyone ever use tonfa sticks at the Gathering fights? Just wondering...

  • Comment removed

  • @AndrewCopland @AndrewCopland They have in fact used Tonfa. In the first series of Dog Brothers videos titled: vol.#6 "Stick vs Other weapons" there is an excellent example of the tonfa in action. Also: in vol. 6 we see the Bullwhip, Nunchaku, Boken sword, Bo staff, Knife and more. Nothing but action packed fights with comentary and slow motion replays on this one! Very little instruction. A must see!

  • I have three sons and two daughters and I've taught them all to fight and the boys have all taken to it with a natural aggresion far eclipsing that of the girls. I have grown closer to my boys by daily wrestling matches becasue that's what they want to do more than cuddle on the sofa and watch Sesame Street. Normal little boys just don't want to be touchy feely if given the choice to do that or fight. Dr. Addis displays typical liberal wishful thinking and societal disconnect.

  • Could use more BJJ training

  • Also in ancient times, "violent games" were part of societies, which had much more physically life to solve. Also english, scottish and irish craftsmen, farmers, soldiers etc. who had physical hard jobs, enjoyed to play football, which was in medieval and renaissance ages m,uch more like a big brawl without rules for the leather-ball. The aztecs had their games, the egypts, the romans, the greek, everywhere arround the world until today, "violent games" are part of every culture.

  • There are COUNTLESS groups and organizations for men to make friendships that aren't based on competitiveness

Where did Dr. Addis get his degree?

  • @TheGreaterGood80 Normally it is not the way of a man to go to a bigger group and say "Hello guys, let´s talk about my problems". This is something you maybe do with one or two very, very good friends. But problems are not important any longer, if you fight with someone you can call a brother. Men are very physical and that is something society does not want to hear. We are intelligent, but we live this through physical activities. Manly aggression is then often compared with negative violence.

  • this Dr. Micheal's argument about our modern society is "so violent with video games, movies and ufc..." that's so ridiculous. Back in the days in antiquity, it was waaaaay more violent. In developed countries these days, we don't worry about our village getting raided and our kids being sent into slavery. Bandits killing for pleasure with emperors/kings doing the same. This society is much much much more tame than before.

  • That's me vs Dan Farley, I hope to make it back there again soon! Woo Hoooo!

  • @WarriorFitness808

You had some nice footwork there brother

  • @tacprotection Thanks! Working hard to make it back there and do a better job. Aloha!

  • This psychologist makes fight club have a lot more sense then I could imagine.

  • This doctor addis is just a pansy and needs to be quiet. He probably has a stick up his ass because he has a P.H.D.

  • Part of a violent culture? Wrong, part of a violent nature. History would show you every culture is violent- do you really think they all just chanced upon this attitude? Also, a sport fight such as the dog brothers is not anything like the violence of mobs or wars. The purpose is different, and that has to be taken into account.

  • Dr. Addis has a serious case of sour grapes.

  • I don't think Dr. Addis understands how conflict and cooperation are interrelated -- you can't have one without the other, just as you wouldn't know pleasure if you had never experienced pain, or joy if you had never experienced sorrow.

  • As one who is both an intellectual and a fighter I would like to show you the etymology for the word compete and where it originates from:

L.L. competere "strive in common," in L., "to come together, agree, to be qualified," later, "strive together," from com- "together" + petere "to strive, seek"

  • That's a good point. I am also reminded that the English word "cleave" has both the meaning of "to adhere firmly and closely or loyally and unwaveringly" as well as " to divide by or as if by a cutting blow" -- from Middle English cleven or clevien.

  • I like you already :) Hail Woden!

  • LOL @ Dr. Addis--8 yrs of psychology training and he does not understand himself. These are the same idiots that tell us we must face our fears!

Which of us fails to instantly recognize the alpha male when we step into a social situation? We are all animals. Why should we be any different than our Ape cousins?

Denney knows the truth---Addis hides from it. 8 yrs. down the toilet!!!

  • Dr. Addis is a fage (not the same as a fag. Achilles and Alexander the Great were warriors but were fags too). A fag likes to skrew each other in the bum (each to their own), but a FAGE (pronounced FAH-JAY) is a limp risted pussy who recoils at every manifestation of manliness.

  • I like this concept. But one question. When you have the dude in a mount and you still have the stick, how hard would you ram it into his throat or chest? ....

  • So since we are violent due to t.v. and video games I am assuming there was no violence prior to the creation of t.v. Dr. Addis is the epitome of what is wrong with psychology.

  • Dr. Addis is NOT a representative of Western Psychology. When psychology wasn't highjacked by simpering, left wing pansies the Heroic Archetype was highly praised. Look up Carl Jung in the internet. He praises the Heroic Archetype and mentions an idea of "facing the Shadow"(ones fears) as a path to wholeness and integration. Dr. Addis is a symptom of the degenerate pundits who want to remove healthy aggression from the male psyche. He is a coward.

  • Some people say that the science of Western Psychology is inherently racist. Dr. Michael Addis definitely lends credence to that theory.

  • @widugeist You´re right, but that is not really a case of left or right wing, I know enough Dog Brothers who are more "Left" in their opinion. But what you wrote is correct, the healthy natural aggression inside every human, especially men, is something which has to be bring out into the life. Combat sports and contact sports of any kind are a very good way to do that, but if there are not sporting contests, no trophys etc. it is much better. Fighting is a way of living better.

  • @widugeist i think they just needed someone with some sort of credentials that would back up the other point of view of what the Dog Brothers do. But i do agree Dr. Addis is full of shit

  • If I could fight anybody? I would fight Dr. Michael Addis...
