  • My lasik surgeon was Keon Nia. The surgery did not go well and I'm pretty muched ruined as a result. All my free time is spent on the net trying to research a possible fix to all my lasik problems. My life seems to be over.

  • I am only a teen, and I was considering LASIK Surgery.. but after realizing that you are spending so much time warning others of this.. it seems to me that you are a very caring person.. you have just saved my life, if that will motivate you.. thank you again and God Bless you for your actions!

  • Thank you. Indeed your life has been spared since I am not aware of anyone that has committed suicide from wearing glasses or contacts, yet there are thousands that are daily depressed and there is NO KNOWN CURE if you are one of the ones that are ruined. God bless. Thanks again! All the best!!

  • LASIK is GREAT! I had LASIK in 2004 and went from being -4.0 to having 20/10 vision in both eyes. I worked as a tech at a clinic before going to medical school. 99% of patients did great. I'm sure that the creator of this post was informed of all risks before undergoing the procedure. The consent form required the patient to copy the paragraph of risks in their own hand writing. Don't be selfish and deny everyone access to this because of your bad outcome!Lawyers are more greedy than Dr's

  • The reported 95.4% success rate is FALSE. Doctors, start telling patients the ENTIRE TRUTH. Quite being so greedy and come out and do the right thing! This effects all of us. There are now approximately 500,000 people on our roads driving with bad LASIK. Next time you leave the country club for dinner, you're at a stop light, you could be the one injured by a LASIK driver running through the intersection. Lesson Learned: Don't mess with your vision! Google: Lasik suicides, Lasik Dry Eye

  • It isn't me that is dictating to the consumer. Whether you are a student, physician, or lay person, we all have been lied to about this procedure and that is what you are failing to comprehend. The 95% success rate reported is false, and is more like 75% after 3, 5, 7, 10 years post LASIK. How do I know this? I have spent 1,000's of hours speaking with suicidal patients, have flown all over the world, and that is why LASIK is all over the news this week. Did you see the FDA on tv lately?

  • Bad doctors are not equivalent to bad procedures. I have both had LASIK and assist a doctor with LASIK. I have seen thousands of cases with about well under 1% with complications or with vision worse than 20/30. I realize you feel you are on a mission, but there are good doctors out there that this misinformation is affecting. Besides, eye surgery doesn't cannot affect your mental health, those people had problems before their surgery that LASIK surgeons cannot fix.

  • Any surgery can affect ones mental health.

A bad outcome can be life altering even if it was a known low percentage risk. I know good surgeons that are mentally gun shy because they had that one in 10,000 corneal melt happen to them. You are incorrect here.

  • Are you nuts Anestesia1000? Do the math. If 10,000,000 Americans had LASIK and the FDA is reporting a 95% success rate, then that means there is a 5% failure rate equating to 500,000 Americans driving cars, driving our kids buses to school, flying airplanes, running red lights in traffic intersections. LASIK has created an epidemic...Google: FDA Panel LASIK, and you will see how even the FDA is concerned! Do your homework and quit listening to the doctors who are known liars!

  • Don't Ban Lasik, Make it Safer

Every great thing in life has risks. 50,000 Americans die every year in car accidents (roughly the same number that died over the entire 6 years of the Vietnam War.)..

    Should we ban cars too?

Of course not! But we need to make cars safer so that less people are killed.

    What about eyeglasses or contacts?

Some people get eye infections and lose their visions from contact lenses, should we ban them too? Where do we stop to make YOU happy?

  • Of course. But you have to understand that LASIK is being misrepresented to the masses. This isn't honest. A permanent cornea with a permanent flap that never heals is not good for your eyes. Give it a few more years, and then you'll understand what I'm saying. Good luck!

  • What do you think of contact lens implant procedure? Are they safer than LASIK by far? I know this procedure is even newer than LASIK, but it seems to be based on an older procedure that was performed on aging people suffering cataract.

  • I wouldn't do anything to physically/surgically alter one's eye unless you were going blind and there was no alternative choices. Check out daily disposable contacts, Ortho K, and DON'T mess with your eyes! People are committing suicide from having had a bad LASIK outcome. YouTube: FDA LASIK and listen to what LASIK patients are saying and why they/we want to BAN LASIK...

  • Did the Drs explain why you had a poor outcome?

  • I'm sure they could come up with a very believable story...

  • Lasik surgery has ruined my life. It was the worst mistake of my life. The thing that I didn't take into consideration that now I know better, is that Doctors LIE and do it daily!! Even though they swore the Hippocratic Oath "to do NO harm," they all lie and do anything for MONEY...Please be smarter than myself and tens of thousands like me who have lost their quality of vision. You've been warned!!
