I love this game. way before my time but still a great game. My favorite 16 bit styled game. Wish the one on PSstore was the original but its the revamped one made a few years ago.

Did anyone else notice in this PS2 collection of Golden Axe that when you kill the female enemies in this game that their original samples are gone and replaced with the male enemy's voice sample. So now whoever you kill, they all sound the same. On top of that, when you get killed, you have the same sample as your enemies no matter which character you are. How does Sega mess that up?

this game, along with strider i believe were the best arcade to home system conversions...compared to the arcade version, golden axe lost a lil bit in graphics and sound quality, but im not takin away from it ...Great game, played well, and ahead of its time a bit for a home system.... 8bit to 16 bit at that time was a shock, and all of a sudden the nes didnt look so good anymore, although i still go back and play some nes games now and then, no joking i think i have every nes game made

@dragonhell71 how did you not fry your Genesis? The NES power cable does not convert AC->DC, the NES system it self does that, The Genesis its self does not have the ability to, so the power cord must, so you are feeding your genesis a straight shot of 120V.

@Wazupupmydog As far as I can remember there is a practice mode(don't know if it is really called so) which is significantly shorter than the harder difficulty levels.

But in total the story part of the game isn't that long. But there is another mode where you fight with a single life against as many enemies as you can. This gave me a lot of replay value as a kid back in the 90s.

You know, they actually made a small mistake in this game. When your character dies, they scream. The dwarf has the low pitched scream, but the chick has the medium scream instead of the low, and the guy has the high scream. This is on the original cart.
