  • Pilots-They are All brave man.

  • Good narration and a fine music score by Gail Kubik.

  • "Decades later, Morgan's grandson was bombin' the fuck out of Australian cities in a chemtrail bomber, still in the airforce, but workin' for the Illuminati and the Shadow Government."

  • klasse film, bloß gut das es den auch in deutsch gibt

  • It may have been a PR stunt and used loaded wording for the old subliminal message. But you cannot deny the fact they did it. Admittedly the US crews only did 25 and home with the requirement rising as the war went on. ( The RAF and Luftwaffe being a your in it till it ends usually one way or the other) but just watch it and admire what people did for their beliefs on both side's of a conflict the type of which we shall hopefully never see again. If your UK remember The Poppy Appeal or H4H

  • Shame they were the first aircraft and crew to complete 25 missions. Yet another PR stunt. The real crew to do it should get the glory

  • My grandfather flew B-29's over Japan, are there any movies like this about B-29's?

  • @DeutschPorsche my grandfather beat up ur gfather b4 he flew the b-29

  • @DeutschPorsche My Grandpa was the Bombardier of the B-29 "Miss Donna Lee". He was based in Tinian, India.

He also bombed Japan. I am afraid there are more videos of B-17's. But they are all great planes and great men, and I think they should be created equally.

  • ok we all realize that this is just an old propaganda film created for the American public right? I am not doubting the events in any way, however this film was created at a time when propaganda films were everywhere. The film makers used "loaded" words positive to describe themselves and negative for the German populace as well as fighting force. So just take it with a grain of salt, and remember there was much sacrifice and human tragedy on both sides.

  • @emerice Well said Komrad !

  • Saw that plane land today at the air show

  • Whoever expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization expects what never was and never will be."

    – Thomas Jefferson

  • 21:11 anyone else catch that Me-109 streaking from top to bottom right?

  • 1 more thing ,these type video's should all be mandatory learning in all schools everywhere as we are losing touch and it won't be long before dictators run countries again, this time we will be prepared.thank you poster .another great series is" Why We Fight" series, a group of seven morale-boosing documentaries.

  • @qqaaaqqq -- How is it that even though you see the value in teaching/learning real history you are so uninformed you don't seem to get that almost all postwar dictatorships up to the present have been US foreign policy? The greatest force against sovereingty and citizen-controlled governments have been the US's corrupt ruling elites and the MIC -- all on behalf of imposing the ponzi-scheme racket of neoliberalism via Disaster Capitalism and political coercion/intrigue via Strategy of Tension.

  • @starmanskye bla bla ,,,,bla bla bla

  • @qqaaaqqq comin' already dude: see my post; I had a runny nose last week from chemtrail bombers... its' here already

  • @qqaaaqqq so true!!!

  • It wasn't the Americans,Russians,British, etc etc...it was the allied people has a unit, all played very important roles in saving the world from certain doom. And for that i am grateful to be here today to actually text a message on you-tube,i thank all .

  • Europeans fight ... Americans die ...

  • Not only do I have an original of that poster on my wall, it was given to me by the Memphis Belle Memorial Association. I'm also the youngest member of said Association and use to write to Col. Morgan on a regular basis.

    Thanks for posting this

vid, its time the next generation learned who the true bad-asses were

  • Thanks for sharing this great video. The snarky comments must have been made by boys and I don't mean young men. Several folks really need to read some History books and do a bit of research before letting their fingers loose on the keyboard.

  • 12 people were in the factorys that were bombed.

  • This is the most epic vidio I have ever seen.I am so happy that you uploaded this vidio. ;D

  • Very nice

  • Thank you so much for this great film about truly great men.

  • thank you so much for this video my grandfather was a sergeant and radio/gunner on a b-17G the "screwball express" this means so much to me

  • My Grandfather was a tail gunner in a B-17 in the 15th AF in WWII Thank you for posting this!

  • All of my respect and honor to those who gave their lives to save us all, thank you.

  • Brilliant battle plan to cut off one of war materials that Hitler's used them.

  • Brilliant battle plan to cut off one of war materials that Hitler's used them.

  • war is big business!!! and the people from both sides are paying for it!!!

  • Y sino fuera por Viet-Nan, todos estaríamos hablando ingles.

  • the real story, not like the holywood make, this people con be proud of his job, but the realy is that this film was make to sale war bonus, to sad

  • Thanks for post this movie, but i am sad to = i am a german ...

I live betwen Wittmundhaven ( Ardorf) and Wilhelmshaven.

And i now the other side from this Story = from my Grandma

But this is history, that is the real ( US) Story

  • I'm a really sad because I'm german...!

  • @MrThunfischpizza1

Und ich bin beschämt das du so bescheuert bist

  • I own this video on DVD and i am proud of the efforts made by both the Brits and the Americans in the air war. I am an American and my father served in England in WW2 and had nothing but admiration for the British forces and the civilians. Sure, England needed our help in this war but they also participated fully in stopping the Nazi war machine. A great undertaking by two great countries.

  • cecil scott(ball turret gunner) is now a preacher in cincinnati ohio usa.

the belle itself is in dayton ohio,wright-patterson afb, being totally restored.

do any of you know what a "milk" run was? if a bombing target was fogged in, or

if it was too cloudy, and you couldn't drop your bombs. they would drop them in the english channel. The milk run. they did not count as one of your 25 missions.

so you could fly unlimited missions over europe, and not get credit for them.

  • Enjoy the view folks.. all this hardware is STILL being paid for with your tax money. Actually, it's paying interest on the loans that paid for all the hardware.. and the massive quantities of ordnance.

  • Why does nobody ever ask where the Nazi's got all the money for their industrial complex?

  • @Echsentriq Hitler,got a gas additive,for his new engines,from ESSO,Rockerfeller;Standard Oil,thru I.B.Ferber.Rockerfeller made millions,war is money.Look up Halliburton,Bilderberg Group,Carlyle group.USA,supplies the war toys to them,makes billions,then goes to war with them,makes billions.Then goes in to "rebuild" and again makes billions.America is a Corporate Business.In 1000 yrs.they will rule the Earth,and so what,somebody has to.

  • @billy1212ist What about the gayass financial crisises that r gonna happen in 1000 yearz

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • I have actually seen the aircraft at Duxford airfield in Cambridge so many thanks to the brave Americans who flew in them to secure my freedom, thank you.

    .

  • @jpmeyer95 Yes, the Hells Angels was the 1st by 3 days. But The director liked the story of the Memphis Belle better. Also, no bomber ever had the same crew throughout its life.

  • is it true that another b-17 completed its 25th mission before the memphis bell but had a innaproprate name??

  • why are there no black pilots in this film

  • @slipperyize Because the Black Pilots were in the 332nd FG in the 15th AF in Italy in 1944 and 1945 and not in the 8th AF in England..Earlier in 1943 they were with the 12th AF in North Africa.

  • @slipperyize because i dont know if black pilots flew b17s, they flew fighter planes that escorted the bombers, red tails as they were known, they were the b17s bestfreinds, they protected em better than any other fighter squadren did, b17 crews always felt safe when the red tails were flying by their side,

  • @slipperyize Because they were in Italy!!!!!!!!

  • cool!

  • Awesome! I'm totally watching this one later! Thanks for posting!

I saw the 1990 version, but didn't realize that that one was a fictionalization of this doc.

I've got a fascination with the B-17's ever since I saw the 1943 film "Air Force" as a young child. Strange, though, because I completely despise anything to do with war! lol!

  • Thank you for posting this great tribute to great men in history.

  • Excellent! I love this legend

  • We dig these bombs still out of the ground, every month.

    a german, near Hamburg

  • Thank you for posting this wonderful video. NO thanks for having to subscribe, however. Not cool...

  • let's remember that these guys were doing there job that we could have our freedom that we take for granted today. Seems today that we are doing the same thing today with the present situation, let's not forget why these young men died for a country that they did not come from originally, but they put there lives on the line with every flight they flew a mission

  • let's remember that these guys were doing there job that we could have our freedom that we take for granted today. • great movie...i recommend it

  • As great it is to view these videos It breaks my heart to know so many American kids sacrificed their lives for an England that produces only socialist sheep today.

  • thank u thank u thank u

  • Take notice of Memphis Belle never invaded the german heartland, only 6 times bombed german coast areas, but 18 times in France and onetime in the Netherlands. Fact is more french people died by allied bombing than british by german bombs. So you can imagine why Americans are not so popular in France.

  • @eus478 sorry, my mistake, there was one time: Feb.14,1943 Hamm (Westfalia)

  • @eus478 Perhaps if the French had done a better job of fighting the Nazis those bombs wouldn't have been falling in France. You can thank the Vichy government for it.

  • @BillyRosinet totally agree with you. Two world wars and what happens? Them lot get better off from it. Disgusting it is. The very people we fought and won against have better lives and more power than we do. We saved their French backsides and get little or no recognition fo it.

  • @RockiBalboa101 People forget how many courageous young Brits sacrificed in both wars. France had its share of losses too. And without the spy network and saboteurs of the French Underground, Normandy would have been a total failure. And thank you Britain for keeping a memorial to the 20k US airmen scattered over Europe in the Second WW.

  • @eus478 well france had the strongest army in 1939, and yet they still were pussys and let the germans walk all over them, they could have fought fearcily to the death, instead of surrendring like cowards, those bombing missions were critical to the war, dont talk shit about something you wouldnt have had the balls to do, besides your facts are wrong, the germans killed way more brits with their bombs, and also the french killed jews for hitler, their disgusting

  • One good thing about World War Two was that there wasn't any of that "media shitfests" (CNN, FOX NEWS, etc.) around to "broadcast" the war news; those bombing strageties would have been exposed by Geraldo Riveria on FOXS like he's on a pinata candy run!!!

  • Why a B17 could bear only a 1,5ton of bomb to put in Berlin, with a 11 men, and a Mosquito reached put 1,8 ton at the same distance, with only 2 men? Oh, yes: because she should bring her own weight. What weight!!!

  • @adauto3000 And she was made of wood. That helps.

  • hooyaa

  • THIS DOCU. IS ONE OF THE BEST IN MY BOOK. minus the commercials.

  • This documentary is about our boys of WWII, OUR HEROS, and I think having advertisements, especially the first one and when it popped up out of nowhere, was disrespectful to the men in that dangerous mission. I dont mind commercials, but come on now. These men are top shelf in my book! GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND ALL THE VICTIMS OF WWII. GOD BE WITH YOU ALL. LOVE ALLIE, REVERE, MASS, USA

  • This is only the first part of the story, the other part is on the ground!

  • When men were men......

  • This pathetic argument is and insult to the wonderful brave men in this film. I am English and will never forget that if not for the the Americans we would all be speaking German. A very moving film thanks for showing it.

  • @ambercharliefy your country did its part to, with out your help, our troops could not have done it, my grandfather was in the 101st, and hes the one who said, if not for england, america would have lost, we needed eachothers help, my grandfather also said he wished he could have gone back to englan after the war, he said the people were kind and freindly, and even in war their spirts were and morale was high,

  • @adamjessi4ever You missed the point I was trying to make, i was not suggesting that the USA won WW2 single handed the allied forces did. If you look back 3months when I made my comment people were using Youtube to conduct thier own private little war. This is not what leaving comments should be all about.

  • @ambercharliefy i know, i was just saying, your country helped to, i didnt wanna argue, and i agree youtube fights are pathetic, especily when there about a war, that most dont understand of the horror,

  • @ambercharliefy I know my history quite well Churchill was an ass and you use Canadian and Aussie men for cannon fodder in both world wars

  • @ambercharliefy Thank Roosevelt.

  • Excellent insight to reality - an inspirational film

  • Now if you hold your rifle right, and if you fix your bayonet so, and if you kill that man my friend the one we call the foe and if you do it often lad and if you do it right you be a hero over night you will save your country from a plite. Rember God is always right if you survive to see the sight. The friend now greeting foe, and you won't believe in if anymore if is an illusion. For children and daydreams not for foreign policies..

  • My Father was in the 8th Air Force and was there this day. He was also with the "big guns" the days of decision making for the beginnings of invasions. He did not like to speak of these times or of the stories. This is a fine history. Thank you.

  • My father was so fortunate to have Piloted this aircraft in World War 2.

This is the best of all the B-17 flicks.

Dad had an interesting connection to this although dad was in the 15th AF rather than the 8th AF.When it mentions the name of Brig Gen Hansell (Haywood S. Hansell) near the end of the film my father was his personal pilot in the states for a short while after he completed his combat missions overseas.

  • Memphis belle, the most successful Fortress bomber of the 8th USAAF. I build this bomber as model in scale 1/72 when I was a little boy, aged 10.

  • Respect.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • In flight, those P&W engines sound so beautiful, it sends a shiver done my spine.

  • who the hell hates this video? I think that it is sad that many people today forget the work that men and women did back then to keep the world free today

  • synes den er for lang

  • I always liked the narrarator on these older Documentery's,

He had a voice that was business like and purposeful,

And it commanded respect the way he was telling the story,

The same person was in the documenterie about the Thunderbolts in the medditeranian campaign,

  • What is up with the new ads? They interrupt at the most inappropriate times and are extremely annoying. Has YouTube decided they need to be NBC now?

Especially with something like this - quite disrespectful.

Do posters get money or does it all go to YouTube?

  • 3:28 - 3:50 military carnival rides--with complementary harmonica music to boot!

  • Axis countries should have make 4 engine bomber like B-17, B-29

  • @HeiligesReich2 how, without the necessary ressources?

  • @HeiligesReich2 they were too busy being nazis and samurais to care about important shit like 4 engine strategic bombers

  • Extraordinarily compelling.

  • amazing love the a-2 flight jackets and als the b-3

  • hey - im sorry if this is a noobie question, but aren't the enemy fighters aware of flak friendly fire?

  • @crazyhillbillies i dont know but the americans did shoot down some of their own planes thinking they were enemies in africa

  • amazing footage

  • and they say infantry are the only boys who get action, or do anything

  • SIr(s): If I may, at this Date and Time, state here, how fine it is to be here. Did U ever question, "Why, there is not nothing?" Also, "When there is smoke, there is fire?" Where there is Nothing, there is No One. And where there is Smoke, there is Fire. SO, when there are a whole lot full of Baby-Carriages, there must also be a lot of Loving Somewhere. Men are loving there maidens, and vice versa. XXOO

  • Nowadays it's not Memphis Belle, it's Maw Say Ton Belle, u Americans sold your souls to the Commie chinks HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

  • bull shit.... whole story

  • my grandfather flew 35 missions over Germany as flight engineer in a B-24 he was the most epic man i ever met

  • What a great documentary, thanks a lot Openflix

  • Its a prpoganda film but it should be viewed It is mostly correct Its a part of history....respect it ...unless you think the Nazis were right

  • After the Dambusters raid Guy Gibson toured the US. In one interview he was asked how many missions did he complete over Germany. US Airmen where required to complete 25 missions, there was a shocked silence when Gibson replied that he had completed 174 missions.

  • This is the most epic fucking documentary ever made. Seriously, it doesn't get more real than this.

  • thx 4 upload

  • I was an Infrantry Officer in Rvn. I have no courage,

My boss was a Nav on a B 24. Not bad.

  • 41:30 WOW a youtube first? if I am correct?

  • the Liberators B-24 had to do 35 missions to be releaved... even 26 is a lot more!!!

And there is one Lancaster "Q-Queenie" flew 135 missions!!!!

The Belle did ok...but the boys on the Liberators and the Lancasters had it more difficult... Does any one know why B17: 25 missions? and B-24: 35 missions?

  • @yonpolite 1/2 The number of missions was based upon the time at which the crew arrived over in the combat zone, and just to give you some idea the Memphis Belle is an legend because up to the point at which it flew it's first to last mission (Nov 7, 1942 to May17th 1943) the life span of an 8th Air Force Crewman was about 4 missions, these guys did the then unheard of feat of 25 and returned home. Part of the tours being lengthened as far as 50 or more

  • @yonpolite 2/2 was because by that time we had complete fighter cover in the form of the P-51 Mustang which could provide cover as far as Poland From English airbases as for the RAF boys well they were flying missions when we were still on the sidelines so yes bomber command had some crews @ 100,150,200 or more mission (Night bombing) where as the USAAF had to fly in the daylight hours when flak and fighter crews could see them coming and had to relay on the gunners for coverage over there.

  • @doronpainter Thank you so much, for the great reply!

    Cheers mate!

  • @yonpolite Yes I know why. It had nothing at all to do with the type of aircraft.

Early in the war when USAAF bombers had no fighter escort (dangerous) the set tour of duty in which combat vets would be sent home after completion was 25 missions in the 8th AF.After they got fighter escorts the number was increased to 35 missions for the 8th AF and 50 missions for the 15th AF.

If a mission was beyond a long range or to a dangerous target the crew would be credited for 2 missions or 1 sortie

  • It's sad, yet not surprising, that the film demonizes the German people. Most of them where not Nazis, just people trying to go on about their lives.

  • @RollandB The film was made during the war so obviously was at least to some extent a propaganda excersise. Remember the Germans voted Hitler into office and must have seen enough of the persecution of the Jews to realise what the Nazis were about.

  • What really happened in the end is that the ground crew told them to circle around the airfield until every one else came home so that they could have a grand entry.

  • I read part of Robert Morgan's journal book, and it said this documentary was just propaganda.

  • i have he 1990 version

  • spasibo !

    real Memphis Belle story !

  • Watching the crewmen pray before the mission makes me feel that much closer to God. I've always said that 99% of atheists that were going down in a flaming aircraft would be crying out to God and Jesus to save them...

God doesn't believe in atheists, He knows better.

  • funny to se the date that this video is put on youtube lol...Dec 31, 1943

  • Interesting watching a piece of history

  • Interesting video! The bombings where necceasy to put mental cases out of power. They deserved it, I only feel sorry for the women & children, who where just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also the loss of ancient monuments. But I guess that is the price for getting rid of a crazy dictator.

  • I removed my posts because arguing on youtube goes no where.

  • @NotCaringJustRelaxin That is very mature of you. At least pointless arguing. I think debate if done properly can actually have positive consequences.

  • This documentary was directed by Major William Wyler, who after the war would go on to direct the 1959 re-make of Ben Hur.

Filmed over seven missions using 16mm cameras placed in the nose, tail and mid-section of the aircraft. Sound was added later!

  • To Those Brave Men: Thank You

  • if i was in ww2 i would have flown in a b-17 "arriba sinaloa"

  • nobody has win the ww II, but we, the poles less it. we were only one winner who less .... isn`t irronical...?

  • @damiusz English a second language for you perhaps? Please rephrase.

  • this makes no sense

  • Nobody wins in war.

  • @hankok87 except for the side that kills more ppl

  • @hankok87 but nobody loses either

  • @hankok87

    thats right hanko87

  • @hankok87 the winners do!

  • @hankok87 except arms manufacturers....they do very handsomely thank you very much

  • @hankok87 the ones that fund a war and take profit from it do

  • @hankok87 no but it goes to show who the baddest fucking country is. God Bless the USA

  • @miessnerchild3 Dont talk fucking crap the USA havent won any war they have been in joined WW2 about 1 year before it finished, got beat by the Viat-Con still getting beat in Iraq and afganistan

  • @79clash If anyone is talking crap its you. Its people like you that give the USA a bad image. Our boys and girls are dying for your fucking freedom asshole. Freedom isnt free. If you can't show some respect for the men and women who have died for this country and the freedom of others...GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE USA!

  • @79clash Oh my bad. I didn't realize you were from the United Kindom. Well then-You still have no right talking shit about the USA. We sent you fuckers back where you belong during the Revolutionary War. AND YOU'RE STILL THERE under the rule of royalty.

  • @miessnerchild3 Now tell me how many tours of Iraq and Afganistan have you done if the answer is none shut the fuck up

  • @79clash I have proudly served 1 tour so far. I will be serving another in the coming months. So you shut the fuck up!

  • @miessnerchild3 I have done 3 tours so far, you got anything else to say

  • @79clash Yes I do. I recently joined the military I still have 3 years left in my service. I will be extending. You still talk shit buy yet you are serving your tours alongside with the United States. Its the United States saving your ass time after time. Sure, maybe your boys chip in every now and then but its the USA with superior airpower saving sorry asses like your's.

  • @hankok87 The "Banksters" always do

  • @hankok87 Actually, this is right, it costs a lot of lives of people! But, I mean, look at the techniques, that are invented for it, at the beginning of WWII in 1939 a high-power piston engine produced about 1,000 hp, in the end of the war in 1945 a hig-power engine could easily produce 2,000hp! If you look at the B-29 and what it did for aviation, I mean, you had pressurized cabins and so on and so furth, we would be thrown back in aviation for years, if we hadn't had war, but nbdy wins in war!
