@spudnick3490 The Brits brought bicycles ashore at Normandy as well on June 6th. Simple, quicker means of moving troops faster than a foot based enemy. Low tech blitzkreig. ;-)

This series is too focused on Europe. The Jap battles were not told in enough detail

To be totally honest Europe deserves the bulk of the attention it was the deciding theatre of war. I think that the defeat of Japan and Italy was always eventually going to happen but Germany was different it had the best army,a very stable econamy and industrial capicity secong only to the U.S. I don't think it was till August 1944 that Germanys defeat was certain.

erka8032, Britain was already fighting the Germans in N. Africa, fighting them at sea in the Atlantic, Britain knocked the Italians out early, and beat Germany in the air over Britain. We had been fighting for 2 years alone, as the doc. said, the troops in Singapore were our poorest, maybe if America had come in at the start you could scoff, the EPIC FAILURE was AMERICAN ISOLATIONISM.

@locheelad2 Worse was the source, anti Semitism and antagonism to the British. This blinded Americans to all other matters. Likely also was an honest desire to end empires, not realizing that the Nazi's, Italians, and Japanese were doing just that. By the same token, do give credit to the Japanese. They wiped out the American fleet, rendering the loss of Malaya a virtual certainty.
