this video only illustrates that the polls are done on a mostly ignorant public who are more willing to believe the last person they spoke to.
Try taking a poll from academics, engineers and scientists as opposed to the average street walker. I think you will find consensus far more likely due to the fact that these fields examine evidence over emotion.
@ccheng21 "mostly ignorant public", that's an ignorant assumption. If the academics polled are dependent on politicized funding you'll get a false consensus. Part 6 explores the opinions of academics on the topic of conspiracy theories, and they don't have a consensus. But part 7 cites a high level policy recommendation paper advising that trusted sources who are seen as independent be covertly prompted by government to attack conspiracy theories. As you say, evidence over emotion.
@robag88 The public is easily swayed by emotion, and the loudest voice and are easily manipulated mainly due to a short attention span. Its so easy to manipulate public opinion using rigged questions, using the words murder instead of kill, use rights, instead of privileged, simple changes in words can change the public's view.
Academics on the other hand are bound to follow the rules of their field, evidenced based reasoning.
@ccheng21 "Academics on the other hand are bound to follow the rules of their field, evidenced based reasoning." That's not strictly true. Some of them are very biased and try to character assassinate particular groups, especially other academics they disagree with. Like I said, view part 6 of this video on that subject.
@robag88 you yourself have already shown how the public can be ignorant, with all those examples of opinion polls that seem to contridict reality: moon landing denial, 9/11 conspiracies.
Take a look also at the polls regarding the public's view on evolutionary biology, and how many people seem not to believe in that.
The truth is not a democratic process, its based on evidence whether you vote on it or not. Truth is truth and evidence points to truth.
@ccheng21 You assume you have a personal monopoly on which theories are and aren't true. You don't. Anyone can claim their opinion is the logical one. The ppl who believe in those conspiracies would lat claim to logic too, but instead of discussing evidence you'd call them crazy & paranoid. They'd call you crazy & in denial. That's what this whole video is about, encouraging both sides to stop the name calling and start debating like adults.
@ccheng21 Incidentally, and I've asked this regarding one of your comments elsewhere recently, You've been posting disagreeable comments on several of my videos for a long time. Whenever I see your username I know it's going to be negative. I don't mind debating the topics, but I'm curious why you watch my vids if you disagree with everything in them. Is there anything in this particular video series that you agree with?
@Nagneto Why those three things? Why not UFOs, WMDs, Al Qeada sleeper cells, water fluoridation, freemasons, the european witch hunts or communist infiltration?
Also do you by default disagree with the many historians and documentary film makers (publicly broadcast ones) who talked about Nazi links to Occultist philosophies, or Israel's treatment of Palestinians and desire for all out war against middle eastern countries?
robaq88, your video is excellent and straght forward, no bias or taking side, very fair. I am looking forward to seeing rest of them, very intelligent.
@2;25, 'the conspiracy did not start until many years later - after the attacks' - Not true. The attack in 1993 was a pretense (Also see 'Ted Gunderson'). Alex Jones, David Icke & Bill Cooper all 'predicted' 9/11.
(AJ: youtube search 'Alex 9/11 prediction', 'David Icke: Was he Right?', 'Bill Cooper predicts 9/11').
People always get credit for what they predicted "correctly" (depends on how you spin it) but they never seem to get the backlash from what they predict and doesn't come true... Funny how that works.
@BinaryBunyip You've misquoted me. What I said was "The explosion of public belief that 911 was an inside job didn't occur until many years after the attacks. The interim period consisted of several unpopular US government activities such as the Iraq war, guantanamo bay and the erosion of the constitution and bill of rights and civil liberties." You're talking a few individuals. I'm talking about the adoption of that set of beliefs by millions. Different paradigm.
People stare themselves blind on "little" things like 9-11, the moon landing or secret cults when the world has been hijacked by globalist bankers. These bankers aren't secret at all and operate in plain view for all to see... so... it's not really a conspiracy theory is it? Yet you can't bring up this fact without getting lumped up with UFO chasers. So frustrating.
@Fistwagon I disagree with you about 9/11 being "little". It's the single defining moment that has shaped the outcome of not only the 21st century world, but America's global and domestic policy. Wether you think the outcomes are positive or negative are up to you, but there is nothing insignificant about 9/11 and the scrutiny it's come under by "conspiracy theorists" (dirty word, imo) is justified.
@DigitalAgeGrunt Right, but when you put it against the fact that essentially everyone in the world are slaves to a system of debt 9-11 is lunch on tuesday!
@Fistwagon I know what you mean. I've found out all kinds of facts about "globalist" motives and activities just by reading documents that are publicly available on their think tank websites - stuff that seems to bypass journalist's attention.
Israel really play on the Holocaust for what it's worth, which is a pain in the ass for many nations. The holocaust is a card drawn by the Israeli Government whenever they need help or support, they also play on the religious conservatism in the US to gain support. Yes, the WW2 was bad, but GET OVER IT. Learn from the war, don't breed on it.
@Arguemento I read 1984 for the first time about four months ago. It cracked me up that one of the control tools was the false hope of lottery tickets with some proles living for it - very today :)
@robag88 I'm actually working my way through 1984 right now. There are several moments where I've had to put the book down out of sheer shock of how dead on Orwell was. Then looking at how the book had it's first printing in 1949 puts it in even greater perspective. Regarding lottery tickets: I worked at a grocery store. I would watch people use government coupons for free food and then use their own money (which they were supposed to be short of) for lottery tickets, and cigarettes, and alcohol
@HankLafayette Yes, it had that impression on me too. One day i'll do a video about 1984 book and film, BTW the films is good if you haven't seen it - lacking in a lot of important details from the book though, it's more like an add on for the book.
@HankLafayette RE: 1984 You may be aware already but George Orwell's french teacher at Eton was Aldous Huxley (who wrote Brave New World - in the 1930's!). Huxley was a member of the elitist 'Fabian Society' (their emblem : a wolf in sheep's clothing. Go figure!). It was Huxley's membership with the 'elite' through the FS which allowed him to get a handle on the elite's agendas for future society, and then pass this on to Orwell. They became friends and would argue who's vision would come true!
@theawecabinet Orwell did a hell of a lot to warn people of the dangers. His work has been echoed in hundreds of films and books since. I've read a fair bit about the Fabians - very interesting stuff. There's a social engineering think tank called Technocracy Inc. They've been going since 1919 and some of their documents (still available on their site) talk about replacing money with energy credits rationed out by the state. Really bizarre stuff.
@Carlosthekopite I think it's largely a backlash against representation of WW2 as a primarily Jewish tragedy and the actions of Israel today against Palestinians. Millions of others who died in WW2 hardly get a mention ... 20 million soviet, 3 million japan, 2 million india, 7 million german, at least 10 million chinese and so on. Many of these were civilians and many were in concentration camps.
@Carlosthekopite I think some people find the sheer quantity of victims (jewish or not) to be impossible to comprehend and that a government was capable of committing such atrocities over a seemingly short space of time. I found myself unable to come to terms with it when I was younger and learning about the war in school. The comment robag88 made is also true, as well as just blatant anti-semitism or resentment of the jewish community for having the 'Holocaust Card' to be constantly in play.
But, like it or not, the facts are there. It happened and it was a great tragedy that should always be remembered, but never used as an excuse to discriminate others or to guard oneself from legitimate criticism.
@Carlosthekopite Well, David Irving is the guy you want to search for. He basically says the gassings were faked... But people did die... They were shot instead... Or something.
Either way, 50+ million people died in WW2. 5+ million got a title.
@Carlosthekopite It's actually a crime in many countries to deny the Holocaust or to even publicly question the numbers. This also includes publicly stating the Diary of Anne Frank was a forgery. Right now there are people in prison for the "hate crime" of simply disagreeing with the numbers. When people end up in prison for disagreeing, it makes me suspicious of what's being covered up. I recommend a search for "One Third of the Holocaust" for a more objective critique of The Six Million.
@HankLafayette Admittedly I'm not too aware of the details surrounding different theories so it'll be interesting to have a look into. I'm from Liverpool in England (same as robag88) but currently living in Germany for a year as part of my University course, here they have little gold coloured memorial stones outside the houses of where Jews used to live, with their name, date etc written on. Pretty harrowing stuff.
regarding the statistics you quoted, it's worth pointing out that surveys can influence the interviewee results both intentionally and unintentionally by the manner the questions are presented. They can also take replies out of context or misrepresent the context of answers, force options upon interviewees and 'put words in their mouths'.
However i still found those statistics very surprising. Way out!
@mrkarlhey Yep, that's why I repeatedly worded each result as "claimed", but it's something to go on. The wording can also shift answers away from the direction of believing conspiracies.
Personally I'm not surprised by the stats. I've been hearing more and more people question media stories and government claims over the years. I've also noticed more journalists and academics taking an alternative conspiracy view on certain events. More on that later :)
