An interesting concept, that a black woman in the future would become empowered to the point of becoming a fascist, even though obviously it is a futile and destructive endeavor. Her counterpoint would be Cassie who doesn't think twice about making it with a Japanese medieval samurai who's got a huge demon on his ass. Too bad Miller couldn't pull it off considering the idea, the characters, and the colorful artwork could have made it a more substantial comic.
I just finished reading this, and it was really really good. Though I didn't completely understand the ending, I definitely thought this was an incredible read. I'm just glad I wasn't influenced by this review, and went on with my buisness to just buy it. I was not disapointed.
Your pronunciation is off, Juggernaut. "Ronin" is pronounced ROH-NEEN, not Ronnin. Sorry if I sound like an ass, but I'm an Anime lover first and foremost, and it bugs me when Japanese is mispronounced.
@JunkieSmurf well thank u. I so very much take Dat as a compliment. I try to be as in depth and as much like confuse Mathew or any other articulant anaylers as possible
@genericutubechannel i really do believe a gave an alright indepth short review of the book... it may not hav been as professional, but dam, its youtube and i had the time only had 10 mins
@koolaid5684 its a good to read if ur trying to look back at the early writings of frank miller. And I think the 1stearly issue ib the novel was good. But after that don't expect to read a good book
When I'm not mistaken are the Nazis and the black people members of two rivalling gangs. They have an armistice now since no group can beat the other. When the Ronin and his Hippie show up both are invited to the leaders of each gang because they hope to gain the Ronin for their cause in order to tip balance to their favour.
The black and the white guy tied to the pole were both members of the black and Nazi gang and were tied there for punishment. Therefore we have another black guy and the Nazi chick as guards. I presume this scene was used to introduce the reader to the unspeakable horror which is looming in the sewers under New York shown in the paniced faces of those tied up and the disfigured hands grapping after them.
@quesondriac thank you for your criticism. i do not believe i intended to be objective in this review. i wanted to make it clear that this book sucks and is overrated. as far as pronunciation i will try in the future to be more clearer
@quesondriac You are welcome. The fact is that Ronin is a bit convoluted and could be much more focused. The twist is substantial and devalues the investment the reader put into it. Take your passion and focus it. It would be a regrettable waste, it would be nothing short of madness for you brave reader not to offer the world your passion.
sometimes i get ahead of myself and misprenounce my words, your comment seems a bit harsh but you are right in a sense. so thankyou for taking the time out to comment my vid anyway.
the girl sure looks black to me broham. alo i know that neo nazis ar real and i dont mind or care about frank using them. i just wanted to know why he puts them or sighns of them in so many of his stories? its just a question of use of artistic showing, for example, like how everybody ask why does quentin tarantino hav so many shots of feet in his movies. just askin broham.
@juggernaut44 Maybe I can shed some light? It's most likely (in my opinion) that Miller throws Nazism in because it's easy to identify certain groups as bad guys? In my opinion.
i got that nazi and black gangs were fighting. i did not understand who put the guys on the pole and for wat reason. u said it was because the gangs were betting on who would cry first when the mutants came to eat them? does this really help the story in any way or give it any merit. is this really what two gangs would stop to do while theyre in a gang war against one another? and come on ironspiderhulk, IS THIS REALLY CLEARLY ESTABLISHED IN THIS MUCKY STORY?

I can't explain the Nazi thing. But it's everywhere in Franks work. It's in Dark Knight returns, Sin City, Ronin, All Star Batman and Robin, etc.
I'm sorry you didn't like it.
