After playing many RPG's in my life (Im in my mid 20's) I can say i agree with the posters agreement on this song being number 1. As he said the Atmosphere along with character development and the story driven sequences approaching this battle it's something you would have to experience to understand where he's coming from. As he said this is just his personal list and it doesn't reflect on everyone else in the world but, for his freedom of choosing but, people who have played P4 can understand.

On the day before you return to the city there is one more thing you can do. Go to the food court no matter what the game tells you. And something else will happen. Let me ask you, how did you "judge" these track? Length? Power? Atmosphere? Quality? It's too vague. Naturally others wouldn't agree with you, especially that "atmosphere" part. And people did said: "It sound a lot better if you've played the game". If you can't at least describe how the "atmosphere" is, people wouldn't agree (since, if I'm not wrong, that's what scored the most for you).
Anyway, be careful. I'm afraid what you like isn't the track, but the battle itself.
Honestly, it's really all about the music for me. There's something deep and just... I can't describe it. It's dark and kind of "crying" throughout, like the song is going through pain. So, it doesn't have anything to do with the battle itself, since I haven't gotten that far in the game. A lot of people think I like the songs because of the games (like FF IX), but this list is all about how much I like the music itself, outside of that. (But I'm not perfect lol)

Most people who make these kind of "Top 100" or "Top 50" put the actual connection of where the song appears, and how it is use before how the song would stand alone without said connection. honestly, if the uploader had like the battle rather than the track, then this would've been even better judgment in my opinion. Game tracks are usually about context, and without the context of the game also being judged, you can say any piece is great, but won't have any meaning.
This track is pretty good by itself, but what makes it amazing is the battle. Of course you'd have to play the game to understand, but that's the beauty of it.

so in this entire list i'm pretty damn sure i didn't see any vgm music from the golden SNES RPG games. i really don't what you have against the old classic 16 bit games but they sure as hell whip the shit out of all these new games. you didn't put Secret of Mana yet you put Final Fallacy 13 on the list? not only that but you totally spammed the top 10 list with final fantasy songs. and they weren't even the good ones too. only FF9 was really acceptable. what a disappointment with the list.

I've played Persona 3 and fell in love with "The Battle for Everyone's Souls". I never played Persona 4, and then I hear 1:26 and 3:19. Damn it! MUST PLAY PERSONA 4!
What is it that I love about Meguro that makes his music epic? The final battle themes give you that "my life is on the line" feeling. I understand now why you chose this as #1:

I came across this list last night and listened to most of the music. It's a great selection of songs you have for a top 100 list. I can't really disagree with "The Almighty" being number 1, either. Very good!
I honestly prefer Fog over this... This song feels oppressive at first, where Fog makes you feel like a badass until the end. I still love this theme, but i just prefer Fog.
I'd like to point you to the video description where it clearly says the name of the song. Perhaps you didn't realize the video titles are saying which game these songs are from and not what the songs are called.
@NegStarnite93 In my opinion, Persona 3's soundtrack wasn't really that good. Of course, it's probably because I got tired of hearing that Tartarus theme and Mass Destruction for the entire game. There were only a couple of tracks I liked in that game.
I'm stuck between #2 and #1. Probably because both just kick ass... however, due to the boss in the actual game, i kinda like Persona 3's music a tad more... simply because that eye just creeps the crap outta me. Stop looking at me already! Idk... they both deserve top.
To be honest i would have switched numbers 1 and 2, but i understand that it was a very hard decision to make and they both kick ass. I just prefer the battle for everyone's souls...

Dude, this isn't just my favourite RPG battle theme, this is probably my favourite song of all time. o_o. I don't think you could have chosen a better Number 1 mate. Brilliant.
Interesting that you chose this one as #1 instead of Izanami's first form theme (at #24). Kiri has that driving part at around :30 in that's impossibly epic.. to me, catapulting it over this one.
Not quite as epic a battle as it was beating the hell out of Nyx Avatar and the slumbering Nyx herself.
Izanami was nevertheless one hellish battle (and without armageddon to boot).
In a truly objective list, this wouldn't really meet the absolute number 1, and with the great variety out there, it will always be up to one's own decision, always a subjective choice as opposed to objective.
All things considered, this can indeed take a person's epic top spot.
the only hard boss IMO was the bad ending boss, if u lvled up properly and had picked up alot of somas you would be fine when fighting both the second last boss (no name spoiler) and izanami.

But then I listened to it more and more, now its on my iPod and I listen to it everyday. Great choice for number one, it's a nice change of pace of change for music I listen to, for example, the Archipelago stage theme from Dragonball Z Budokai 3. xD
The only other time Iv'e felt this sort of force in a song, the boss that accompanied it was dissapointingly easy. I'd name him, but I think we all know who I'm talking about.

I have listened to said song, in fact i have the entire soundtrack. As I have said before, I don't find The Genesis to be nearly as good as this song, in fact I think it's one of Shoji's most ill-fitting battle themes.
To me it sounds like the final Cutscene of the entire game, and before I knew it was a battle song, that's what I thought it was.
I know we all have opinions, but I'm getting a little annoyed by all the people thinking I've never heard the song.
and now I wish I had played this series. Not my favorite RPG final battle (That would probably go to Howl of the Departed from Lost Odyssey or Dancing Mad), but I'm sure if I had played this game I'd get the true "finality" vibe from it.
I got this picture from the fight so i know this song plays during it. I know when it plays, otherwise i would have picked a generic Persona 4 picture.

I really don't understand people's attachment to that song. When i first heard it, it sounded much more like a final cut-scene song than a final battle. It's not a bad song, persey, but it just does not sound anything like a final battle song to me.
It's far too long and drawn out to fit that kind of situation. And the mix of the main melody and then that ending section still scream "ENDING CUT-SCENE!" to me.

It's called "People Seized with Life"? Haven't played Chrono Cross in forever but I think that was it. It was pretty mellow, but I guess you can consider it epic if you're caught up in the story
Have you heard Deep Drive from Kingdom hearts 358/2 Days? It simply the best kingdom hearts song. The kh 2 version is COMPLETELY different so make sure you find the days one!

to me thats not a problem but i miss som RPG´s in here like valkyrie profile or dragon quest or some Nis games or Gust like disgaea,makai kingdon,soulnomad or atelier iris.

You actually watched this list after a small overhaul. Either way, i don't have some of those games on this list because i either don't have or don't like the music. With songs by Motoi Sakuraba, i just could not put MORE of his works on here.
For Disgaea, well i like the music, but it's not up to par (in my opinion) with a lot of songs on this list. Also, i'm not even 100% on its or soul nomads "battle themes" so that's an issue.

Certainly a good choise, but I for myself would consider to put one song from The World Ends With You as THE definitive number one (maybe "long dream" or "transformation").

just went through your list and I'm sad that there is not a single Mother 3 track which leads me to believe that you've never played it. I also noticed a huge lack of variety. I could list several other rpgs with songs That I think are better then the majority of the list. Also not a single western RPG? And if MMOs like FF11 count then why not War Craft? Heres a few other RPGS for you though with great tracks:
First of all, i picked songs from games i either have played or have the soundtracks for to make this list. Also, they are tracks i enjoy or games i enjoy.
I only included FF XI because it is an FF game not because it's an MMO. I don't enjoy WoW so it's not here for that reason.
Disgaea wasn't in my collection of OSTs when i made this as well.
It is also my opinion that Chrono Cross music beat the sh*t out of Chrono Trigger music. (you already know how i feel about Eternal Sonata)
As for the rest, they were either too old for me to know of, i never enjoyed the music in them, or i just did not want to include them.
If you haven't noticed.... my game timeline begins at around 1995/1997 on this list, so games before that are not included. I like some quality to the songs, and while i have enjoyed 8/16-bit-esque before... none of the tracks compare to anything on here.
A lot of the ones on your list i don't know enough of so they probably won't make it onto this list.
I'm just comparing WoW since there both MMO RPGs. note the "RPG".
Anyways my main complaint was the lack of variety. I saw plenty of repeats in series on the list. For me almost none of the persona or devil summoner tracks were appealing. It might be because I never played the games, but then it's music so it should be good anyways.
Mario RPG was the only older game I listed though pokemon and Mother 3 are both game boy games but then again so is golden sun so there isn't much argument
Also considering that much of the music in Eternal Sonata is inspired by Fredric Chopin I honestly don't know how one could dislike it unless they didn't like classical music.
also you don't enjoy Wow is a poor excuse to dislike its music. I even said I don't play it, but recognize that it's music is great. Either your really baised toward JRPGs or you were just making up an excuse in which case I would of rather of heard "Oh, I forgot that one or I havn't heard of it."
None of the battle tracks from ES are from Chopin, and i love classical music btw.
As for the WoW music, i'm not a fan of the game, nor do i like the music. I have heard it, believe me. I put things on this list that i knew of at the time. I know of more now, but i still haven't included them because i think they aren't worthy of this list.
Also, i probably am biased for "J"RPG's, but this list wasn't for MMO's despite my ONE exception.
Elderscrolls isn't an MMO but now that I look at it perhaps only it's overworld themes are good. The battle theme not so much, but the majority of the game is the overworld theme which transitions into the battle theme so fast that you don't notice.
If you had to play one of the games I listed I'd say Mother 3. Its pretty awesome
in all honesty, this song gives you the feeling of a long, arduous battle.

I honestly prefer Fog over this... This song feels oppressive at first, where Fog makes you feel like a badass until the end. I still love this theme, but i just prefer Fog.

@NegStarnite93 In my opinion, Persona 3's soundtrack wasn't really that good. Of course, it's probably because I got tired of hearing that Tartarus theme and Mass Destruction for the entire game. There were only a couple of tracks I liked in that game.

I'm stuck between #2 and #1. Probably because both just kick ass... however, due to the boss in the actual game, i kinda like Persona 3's music a tad more... simply because that eye just creeps the crap outta me. Stop looking at me already! Idk... they both deserve top.

To be honest i would have switched numbers 1 and 2, but i understand that it was a very hard decision to make and they both kick ass. I just prefer the battle for everyone's souls...

The Almighty is my personal favorite final boss fight song. Persona 4 has been a personal favorite of mine even above a large majority of FF games.
This song is amazing. But even with that said, I think the FF13 battle theme should have taken number one still. Haha

Interesting that you chose this one as #1 instead of Izanami's first form theme (at #24). Kiri has that driving part at around :30 in that's impossibly epic.. to me, catapulting it over this one.

Not quite as epic a battle as it was beating the hell out of Nyx Avatar and the slumbering Nyx herself.
Izanami was nevertheless one hellish battle (and without armageddon to boot).
In a truly objective list, this wouldn't really meet the absolute number 1, and with the great variety out there, it will always be up to one's own decision, always a subjective choice as opposed to objective.
All things considered, this can indeed take a person's epic top spot.

the only hard boss IMO was the bad ending boss, if u lvled up properly and had picked up alot of somas you would be fine when fighting both the second last boss (no name spoiler) and izanami.

Overall, the list was nice, but i would love to see some 8 and 16 bit era in it :P There are many great tracks in the games from those times!

At first, I was like it's okay..
But then I listened to it more and more, now its on my iPod and I listen to it everyday. Great choice for number one, it's a nice change of pace of change for music I listen to, for example, the Archipelago stage theme from Dragonball Z Budokai 3. xD

This song is fine, but the song from the true final boss is just far-far more epic.
It's call "The Genesis" Youtube it and hear it for yourself. Persona 4 (and Persona 3 of course) are both epic games.

I have listened to said song, in fact i have the entire soundtrack. As I have said before, I don't find The Genesis to be nearly as good as this song, in fact I think it's one of Shoji's most ill-fitting battle themes.
To me it sounds like the final Cutscene of the entire game, and before I knew it was a battle song, that's what I thought it was.
I know we all have opinions, but I'm getting a little annoyed by all the people thinking I've never heard the song.

and now I wish I had played this series. Not my favorite RPG final battle (That would probably go to Howl of the Departed from Lost Odyssey or Dancing Mad), but I'm sure if I had played this game I'd get the true "finality" vibe from it.

To be honest, I didn't really think this belonged in the top spot, but after just really listening to it... It's really good. You can just feel the mood. "The Almighty" was a perfect title for this song.
I appreciate seeing good songs like these at the top. Most people would overlook this.

I really don't understand people's attachment to that song. When i first heard it, it sounded much more like a final cut-scene song than a final battle. It's not a bad song, persey, but it just does not sound anything like a final battle song to me.
It's far too long and drawn out to fit that kind of situation. And the mix of the main melody and then that ending section still scream "ENDING CUT-SCENE!" to me.
But, we all like our songs i suppose...

I don't think i know of that song... or at least not by that name.
However if it is the same as "Orphanage of Flame" then i just felt that the other tracks were better. This list was tough to do anyway lol.
Perhaps you could give me an alternate title?
I doubt i overlooked any battle songs, so i probably just preferred the others more.

It's called "People Seized with Life"? Haven't played Chrono Cross in forever but I think that was it. It was pretty mellow, but I guess you can consider it epic if you're caught up in the story

weel now that i heard all the list.
where is my opinion.
must of this games are from FF,SMG or shadow hearts...
to me thats not a problem but i miss som RPG´s in here like valkyrie profile or dragon quest or some Nis games or Gust like disgaea,makai kingdon,soulnomad or atelier iris.
but overall is a great list and is really hard to makae a 100 top list.

You actually watched this list after a small overhaul. Either way, i don't have some of those games on this list because i either don't have or don't like the music. With songs by Motoi Sakuraba, i just could not put MORE of his works on here.
For Disgaea, well i like the music, but it's not up to par (in my opinion) with a lot of songs on this list. Also, i'm not even 100% on its or soul nomads "battle themes" so that's an issue.
Either i didn't know, had too much, or didn't like them lol

just went through your list and I'm sad that there is not a single Mother 3 track which leads me to believe that you've never played it. I also noticed a huge lack of variety. I could list several other rpgs with songs That I think are better then the majority of the list. Also not a single western RPG? And if MMOs like FF11 count then why not War Craft? Heres a few other RPGS for you though with great tracks:

First of all, i picked songs from games i either have played or have the soundtracks for to make this list. Also, they are tracks i enjoy or games i enjoy.
I only included FF XI because it is an FF game not because it's an MMO. I don't enjoy WoW so it's not here for that reason.
Disgaea wasn't in my collection of OSTs when i made this as well.
It is also my opinion that Chrono Cross music beat the sh*t out of Chrono Trigger music. (you already know how i feel about Eternal Sonata)

As for the rest, they were either too old for me to know of, i never enjoyed the music in them, or i just did not want to include them.
If you haven't noticed.... my game timeline begins at around 1995/1997 on this list, so games before that are not included. I like some quality to the songs, and while i have enjoyed 8/16-bit-esque before... none of the tracks compare to anything on here.
A lot of the ones on your list i don't know enough of so they probably won't make it onto this list.

I'm just comparing WoW since there both MMO RPGs. note the "RPG".
Anyways my main complaint was the lack of variety. I saw plenty of repeats in series on the list. For me almost none of the persona or devil summoner tracks were appealing. It might be because I never played the games, but then it's music so it should be good anyways.
Mario RPG was the only older game I listed though pokemon and Mother 3 are both game boy games but then again so is golden sun so there isn't much argument

Also considering that much of the music in Eternal Sonata is inspired by Fredric Chopin I honestly don't know how one could dislike it unless they didn't like classical music.
also you don't enjoy Wow is a poor excuse to dislike its music. I even said I don't play it, but recognize that it's music is great. Either your really baised toward JRPGs or you were just making up an excuse in which case I would of rather of heard "Oh, I forgot that one or I havn't heard of it."

None of the battle tracks from ES are from Chopin, and i love classical music btw.
As for the WoW music, i'm not a fan of the game, nor do i like the music. I have heard it, believe me. I put things on this list that i knew of at the time. I know of more now, but i still haven't included them because i think they aren't worthy of this list.
Also, i probably am biased for "J"RPG's, but this list wasn't for MMO's despite my ONE exception.

Elderscrolls isn't an MMO but now that I look at it perhaps only it's overworld themes are good. The battle theme not so much, but the majority of the game is the overworld theme which transitions into the battle theme so fast that you don't notice.
If you had to play one of the games I listed I'd say Mother 3. Its pretty awesome
