He didn't really "bash" her. He just said that when she said those kind and great words that she was just overreacting(acting.) She meant that she loved him, but when she goes overboard like that it isn't because she is super in love with him, she just loved him. That's his point. Plus, for a lot of them it's difficult to keep ANYTHING private, including their contributions to charities.
