There is only risk involved with breast implants if the nipple is removed to insert the implant. There are many ways to put in an implant: through the armpit, the bellybutton,... Other places in the body that involve less risk and less scaring. If the nipple is removed to insert the implant, then many of the nerves are severed and that is what would bring about a lack of sensation for the woman. This is something a woman would request with her plastic surgeon.
I really get freaked out by this stuff and these facts about advertising but...honestly, I am around that naturally skinny and tall and I exist, and I definitely don't have an eating disorder. I don't like hearing that almost everyone who looks like me is sick. I'm fine, this is just my body type, I guarantee it exists. O_o However, I do understand the point that it's an uncommon body type and I think theres lots of other body types...just...throwin that out there.
@youmakemesmile3 my wife's the same ... thin and tall ... but she does have her blemishes too ... and they cause her all sorts of esteem problems .. i've just given up trying to raise her self esteem .. because she's been told 22 years out of her 24 year old life that she's imperfect ..
@youmakemesmile3 I'm the same. I even have my family sometimes telling me I look sick, if I've been away from them for a while. And I have to tell even them, and it's annoying, that I'm eating lots. It's just my body type. There are even girls I've encountered who have our body type and also are naturally quite busty. And that exists too! I think porn has a lot to do with encouraging that sort of image of many girls being thing and busty, as well. Not just mainstream media.
@embracingreality, quote "Feminism has been blaming men for everything that ever went wrong in the world for 40+ years! She's critiqueing a society, not men. Sorry I was watching Killingus Softly 4 first,so it could be a bit different, but she did keep basically the same speech.

@embracingreality, I have to saw your viewsight for "most women" are clearly not "most women". You have bad experiences I see but you can't blame people who you have seen as the "majority of women". Like your friend who suggest you marriage is bad, well they are your friend and you have a circle of certain type of relationship all tied together. I'm not against you but I do think your perspective is limited to make assumptions for what women were and you clearly see them objectified already.
@ybyxk Maybe that wasn't the intention, but speaking as a female, I'm not the only one who would classify feminists in this sort of mindset also. It may have been better to raise more awareness on all the minority groups that aren't treated equally; get all of those groups to join together to get a massive diverse group of people who support and encourage each other to be equal citizens in a society that isn't. Might have been a more effective and inviting movement for the feminists to take.
@embracingreality, I've just read the rest of your posts. I found "dishonesty, manipulation, selfishness" in every single MAN I dated up until 8 months ago. Do I stereotype the entire gender? NO, because I'm not a bigot.
As for "special privileges", what exactly would those be? Wanting to be treated nicely by the person they're with? Wanting respect? Wanting to be heard?
Also, as someone else said, I think you're confusing "feminist" with "female supremacist". It's not the same thing.
This is awesome! =) Thank you for finally showing me someone else who thinks exactly the way I do.
Also, @embracingreality, what does divorce have to do with anything? Everyone has the right to divorce their partner if they're not happy; perhaps the statistic shows that women are less happy with their marriages than men, rather than that they're fickle. "No fault" means that nothing physical happened; but falling out of love is a very good reason to get divorced.
I think that the most important thing that children and teens, especially females, need to be taught is to be happy with themselves the way they are. The women in those ads do what they do because that is their job. They need to understand that they don't have to feel pressure from the media. After all, nobody is perfect. There is nothing wrong with trying to better yourself, whether it be physically or mentally, but someone shouldn't strive to be perfect. Its just plain unrealistic.
Also note: Women's magazines are full of skinny women. Almost all men don't like "skinny" women and certainly don't like the looks of the female models on the catwalk or anything close to that. Women cause women's eating disorders. Of course, in today's society everything can only be "man's" fault so it becomes the man's fault as insinuated in this video.
I'll also mention that men are being pushed to look better from women. I'm glad our gender can fight this nonsense off created by women
feminism is demoralizing to women. Just ask the average female - not a man-hater female
Over the last 4 million years men have evolved to spread their seed to as many potential women that are able to conceive children. Women have been designed to locate the "best" father to make sure their childen has children. They use their looks, intelligence, status, etc. to attract this male. Thats the way it is - feminists cannot change it and they cannot change man's DNA so they will stop looking.
Feminists have an incredibly low-self esteem to begin with and they derrive their sense of self worth by what television tells them. This is also why you see feminists patting eachother on the back by giving eachother praise for subpar and irrational comments such as "It's about equality of the sexes - simple as that."
Feminism IS a branch of egalitarianism. "Egalitarian" is simply an umbrella term.
Feminists strive for equality between the sexes, NOT female supremacy.
And you say that the feminist movement lacks scientific evidence? Really? What about all the statistics on things like the wage gap, female genital mutilation, honor killings, and the objectification of women in the media?
Honestly, stop your trolling and get yourself an education. It's f*cking annoying.
@vanizorc Feminists strive for opportunism. The reality is that men and women are not equal. All the buildings, the skylines, the infrastructure of cities were created by men. What women want are equal wages for inequal share of labour. In essence feminism is an under the umbrella of fascism because since people are not naturally equal they must require government to intervene and force equality among unequal people. Checkmate.
The reason why "all the buildings, skylines, and infrastructure of cities" were built by men is because women were not allowed to enter these fields and pursue higher education. Had women been allowed to pursue careers and higher education, they would have accomplished just as much as men.
@vanizorc Ask yourself, who created the institutions of higher education? Granted these institutions were taken seriously. Since then women have ruined the educational institutions where equity laws are concerned. All you need to obtain a degree is a pencil and daddy's money! But seriously, if women are just as capable as men, they wouldn't need laws that bend the fuck out of the rules, and they would need no one's permission just as men hadn't required!
this is so sad. i never really realized what theses advertisements were teaching us. i think we all need to be aware of these things more. quit arguing and fighting each other and start the fighting the real boogie man. yall hear me or wht
You obviously have no f*cking idea what the whole point of feminism is. It's about equality of the sexes - simple as that. It is most definitely NOT about women getting "special rights" at the expense of men (racists used to use this line of logic too). Seriously, go take a course or two on gender studies or sociology. You clearly need it; you have the mental capacity of a seventh-grader.
Stop your infantile trolling, and use your brain before you post comments.
@vanizorc Attend a gender studies course? No thank you! Feminism operates much like a religion because it really is a church that demands credulity on an the absense of reason. It's funny that you'd mention racism because that's essentially what groups rights is! Rights specially for one group, while others must simply recognize said rights. Racism and feminism are both forms of collectivism. Same church, different pew.
@vanizorc Anyone who claims that feminism refers to the equality of the sexes needs an education in logic, and the beauty of logic is that it's scientific not just faith based as feminism truly is. For example, the root word feminine refers to women, stupid. The suffix ism is a belief system! Ergo, feminism is a belief system acting int he interest of the feminine. Egalitarians act in the interest of equality, not feminists!
@vanizorc Feminists don't even know what feminism is as evidenced by the fact they change the definition every year especially when they claim it refers to "equality of women." When pointing out the logical absurdity of expressing equality on behalf of any particular, they quickly changed the definition to "equality of the sexes" Feminism is an infintile belief system predicated on collectivism and opportunism much in the same way that racism is!
It is about special rights. Women weren't treated equally in the pasts. Feminists had pushed for equal laws to make things equal under law for good reason. The problem is that they kept pushing now they have all kinds of special rights and unfair laws that work against men while benefitting them.
@vanizorc The vast overwhelming majority of women want men to;
Take all the risks of rejection and approach women, pay for dates, gifts, meals ect. If the relationship progresses he'll be the one to risk rejection and propose. If excepted he may be expected to pay for the wedding, the honeymoon and most everything else. ASK ANY MARRIED MAN!
Every man in the US over 18 registered for the draft. Why don't women fight for that right?
When will all this "equality" begin? Or is it just a lie?
@embracingreality Sexism goes both ways - whether it oppresses men by turning them into wage slaves, or oppressing women by turning them into sexual objects and/or domestic servants. In either case, sexism is the enemy. I completely agree that REAL feminists (people who stand for gender equality) should be in favour of disposing ALL sexist "traditions", such as the expectation that only men should pay for dates & meals, and/or only men should fight on the combat lines.....continued
@embracingreality ....Clearly, to truly stand for gender equality would require (for example) that women pay for dates just as often as men, and that women be allowed to fight in military combat lines just like their male counterparts. There should be no unnecessary gender discrimination whatsoever.
The women who insist, for example, that men always pay for dates are clearly NOT feminists - they are what I would call "female supremacists" (who perpetuate sexism against men).
@embracingreality And just as a little extra tidbit, when it comes to my boyfriend and I, I do an equal share, if not most, of the paying (for meals, drinks, movies, etc...). Likewise, I try to encourage any of my other friends who are in relationships to do the same, and take turns paying for things equally (and I inform them that expecting the guy to always do the paying is absolutely sexist against the male gender).
@embracingreality The reality is of course (MOST) women are honestly not interested in your definition of feminism or anything like actual equality. Women in reality want special privileges afforded them by outdated "chivalry" and they want special privileges afforded them by third wave feminism. Women then distort, mischaracterize and manipulate the definition of the word "equality". Men with any intelligence see through this and for this reason women are not taken seriously. How could they be?
@embracingreality Yes, of course it is the fault of women that for many years they were not allowed to fight in the war. Women have to fight to be taken seriously. It actually scares me when you speak about married men as if you are an authority and have experience as one. Perhaps your wife should have rejected you like all the other woman that saw through your advances and rejected you. You should be working on your hatred towards women as opposed to perpetuating sexism on Youtube.
@2kool4skoolGHCJ I have no idea what your point is but I do not hate women. I do however hate dishonestly, manipulation, selfishness and I've found all these things in most women I've dated. I have yet to marry and it doesn't look very tempting as the vast majority of men I know married/divorced DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! If you think these are exceptions try searching online key words;
"Why young men are avoiding marriage"
"Men's marriage strike"
You clearly need an education besides fairytales.
@embracingreality Do you have anything bad to say about men, or is it just women that are dishonest, manipulative and selfish? For every one of those women you know I can point out a man who has done the same thing, or has treated women with total disrespect and as less than human. I am a realist and I hope to get married some day but I am well aware that marriages don't always work and that 1/2 get divorced. Considering I am graduating with a degree in psychology, I have an education my dear.
@2kool4skoolGHCJ WHA? Why would anyone need to say anything else bad about men? Feminism has been blaming men for everything that ever went wrong in the world for 40+ years! Apparently women don't do well with accountability... You should be aware that currently 70% of divorces are filed by women and 75% of all divorces are "no fault" meaning absolutely NO REASON is needed.
Even IF you reach a doctorate in psychology you'll find great difficulty finding gainful employment.
a lot of women (a lot, not all) treat themselves as objects, and are only worried about their looks, this has been like that before advertisement existed. I am not saying is a good thing, and it should be fixed with education, but you cant blame men or the advertising industry for vices that have centuries...
The advertising industry acts on what society shows, and takes it to the next level. then the society takes it further and it becomes a never-ending cycle. The only way to stop is to not buy into.
I agree that many women act this way--but also that they are the most accepted and assimilated into our culture. Those that don't, well, they're not accepted. That starts from elementary school. And yes, it's been throughout history that women should worry about their looks, but at that point it was supported by religious ideologies and the need to be married above all else. The best thing you can do is to teach your daughter to respect herself and love herself, and your son to respect women.
Well, then there is the question: Who determines what is "hot" for you. You are not born with the image what a "hot chick" should look like, you are indoctrinated. And more obvious: Who told you that women are "chicks"?
@IAmLostWithoutYou Everything to feminists is degrading, so my question is, why bother trying to please feminists when they're going to make an effort to be offended by everything? It doesn't bother me in the least when chicks refer to guys as hotties or hunks. But I guess I don't have an inferiority complex espoused with jealousy like most feminists.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Feminism is a radical conception that suggests that women have certain rights and protections that men should not have. Thus the definition of feminism doesn't mean equality for the sexes as much as opportunism for women at the expense of men. It demands inequality of rights for the sake of equality, hence the provisions are solely in the interest of the 'feminine."
@anchises666 ooh, I can answer that. A hot girl has a nice firm ass, supple firm breasts, a thin figure and nice long legs. Feminists would like to eliminate a man's sexual drive but it's just not going to happpen- sexy chicks ae here to stay. By the way, I should hope that you are not born with the image of a what a "hot chick" should look like otherwise we might end up with a pedofilia epidemic!
Right, sure. But "hotness" shouldn't be the only concern of women, and if, God forbid, someone doesn't have legs as long as a Barbie-doll, that shouldn't make her feel less valuable. Believe me, attractiveness is much more tightly connected to how someone feels and behaves than to have the perfect amount of flesh or fat in the right places. With a smiling, interesting woman you could actually be happy. With a great body you can only fuck.
I'm glad you touched on this point because it demonstrates how irrational Kilborne's argument is. The question I want to know is what kind of person looks to advertising to form a deep emotional bond? That's what close friends and family are for! And who says non-sexy women are less valuable? Just because I wouldn't consider my mom in the context of sexuality doesn't make her less valuable to me! However, advertising is about grabbing the viewers attention and nothing does that like a sexy lady.
I agree with you in respect of value and sexual attractiveness not being the same. But in Kilborne's video is not about people like you and me who understand and reflect upon such things, it's about teenagers whose main value-systems come from advertisements and B-rate movies, whose friends and family don't teach them moral codes and right and wrong, instead let pop cult items do that. And it's one thing grabbing attention by a pretty girl and another by a faceless d-cup.
I think if people do that they have no one to blame but themselves. When I was a teenager I was exposed to all sorts of pop related things that I never cared for like Britney Spears. I never detracted any of my values from them nor needed others to teach me not to.
That's completely true. The creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer chose a young, thin, blonde-haired girl just so people would watch the show...then again...he created the show with the intent of creating a female who could go into a dark alley and kick it's ass
I ask only because it hasn't been until the last couple of years specialists have taken a serious look at EDNOS and realized the prevalence and severity of the diseased, putting it on par (or closer to) with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa in terms of health concerns. Binge Eating Disorder has also been made an official ED, and they've shown that most sufferers of ED do not meet full diagnostic criteria for Anorexia/Bulimia despite significant body damage, thus being EDNOS.
i wish this movie was required viewing for all high schoolers! I think that's a good age to show them the media is trying to hurt them, not help them 'be cool/hot.' :) I think it would help a lot.
I think its hard to say at that age. Some students may understand but others may not. In honesty the media may be putting pressure on them but it is us as a society who allows them to do it because we buy into their adds. They wouldn't be showing such adds if it didn't sell to us as the consumers.
@acapulco214 Required viewing? Yep I can picture it now, high school boys passing around copies of NOW magazine to their friends to view the feminist centerfold! But to be honest, like the U.S. military recruiters, feminists need to leave kids alone.
Kids need information always. Shoving it down there throats, I agree, is too much. But in the end, the biggest thing is family. Kids will learn from their families before anyone else, feminists included, so don't worry too much. :)
@acapulco214 A required viewing? We're already preparing our girls to be the next blue ribbon sows of the 21st century. Any pressures to have them put down the Hagendaz and motivate them to exercise is good. That's the catch-22 in feminism logic, they want women to be empowered but they don't want them to have to lift a finger to get it.
Jami,a gals clothes dont say anything about her sexuality. The ppl who started that idea were men,so of course men claim certain outfits r "sexy."Well, thats a great opinion; it doesnt make it fact! Just because a gal in a tank shows cleavage doesnt mean she wants stares.Maybe its just friggen hot out &she doesnt want 2sweat. Maybe thats why she has a skirt, 2.Clothes arnt only about gettin atention. We dress4weather,occasion, fit, expression.Who cares what others find sexual if it makes us happy?
Jami, I think u need to watch what u say because Im getting offended by ur statements even after u 'correct' urself. 1)U still blame the victim. 2)Body parts r sexualized depending on culture, not visibility during sex. Not all cultures worship ass/tits. 3)Its more objectifying to cover ur whole body (a la Muslim woman). Guys dont cover up everything. Y should women? Cuz we're sex objects so we gotta hide our bodies "or else guys will get horny"? Hell no! I wear what I want, just like a guy does.
I just wanted to take this moment out to Thank Everyone For Indulging This Highly Important Subject Matter.
I don't usually "break in" like this..I just don't think you guys Really "need" me to...but ANY comment directed Towards me is Surely received with Maximum Appreciation Each and Every Time no matter how brief, or of Whatever Opinion...That is my very Purpose FOR the posting ...to help stimulate Discussion and thus Focused Attention on a DILEMMA WHICH EFFECTS US "ALL".
2. I understand why you jumped on me because it seemed as though I was some kind of man-hating amazon woman or something. But the truth of the matter is that I can express my displeasure with many of the things that go on in our society without always making generalizations. Granted, it is hard not to generalize or be angry when seeing videos like this, but that is only because of the injustice and how it makes one feel at the moment.
I admit that I probably misinterpreted some of your comments because of the way you phrased them, but two things are certain to me a this point.
1. Whether you are aware of it or not, you are making heterosexist comments assuming that ALL men and ALL women are made for each other when there actually are variations in terms of both sex and gender.
The reason why women's body parts are over scrutinized is partly because of the types of cloaths they wear. Just imagine if every guy walked around with skin tight pants revealing every dimple in their butts or the very shape of their privates , or if they wore booty shorts that revealed their private areas or perhaps shirts so tight that you could see their nipples. Pretty soon women would have a lot more to talk about and judge as well. If this became the norm, than so would the advertizers.
Blame the victim, that is the best thing to do then you say? And no, for men it would not have the same effect. Men are able to walk around without shirts on and they are rarely sexualized because of that. When women walk around without shirts on, it is ALWAYS sexual thing only because women have breasts that are full and swollen. Men have breasts as well; just flat. And some men even have droopy breasts but they are not immediately sexualized for it.
1) Easy to claim but how can u prove that? I see women all the time smirking & whispering about over muscular guys that may walk around with their shirts off or in wifebeaters . Your gonne tell me that they r commenting on his intelligence? their thinking SEX TOO.. Probably not as much as men BUT exactly what are u referring to as sexualized? Did it cross your mind that the body parts that u claim are being sexualized by men r body parts that R NORMALY USED IN SEX (which she chooses to expose)?
2)On the contrary , there is only 1 area on a man's body which is most commonly used for her to gain sexual pleasure (his groin). Perhaps that has something 2 do with why men's bodys come under less scrutiny when exposed than woman's. Women r choosing to EXPOSE the parts of their body's which are most commonly used 4 his sexual pleasure. Why wouldn't a man think of sex when he looks at her? If u covered these areas like he covers his I guarantee your Body will be under just as less scrutiny.
3) By nature, women have more areas of their body which are commonly used by men to gain sexual pleaser from than men do. This is why there are more of a women's body parts that are ,as you say, being sexualized than men's body parts.
4) I know way to many Muslim women who never have these types of problems .They are never spoken to or even looked at in the same manner as the average women. I've seen non-Muslim men speak to them with total respect for their minds and who they were and in non-sexual ways or flirty ways, stepping out of their way when they walk and opening doors for them (in a non-flirtatious manner) because of their choice to cover the areas which a man commonly gains sexual pleasure from.
""""Women are not made for men's sexual pleasure!! "" You are terrible. """"""
WOW I guess Im only as terrible as any other women ( and possibly even u) who has ever gained sexual pleasure through a man.. That last statement made a LOT of sense,NOT especially since it can apply to anyone who gains sexual pleasure by means of the opposite gender. GENDER Which only proves that men and women were in fact MADE for each others sexual pleasure.
The way you phrased it was wrong then, making it seem as though women are here in order for men to receive pleasure (and hey, what about homosexual men?) Your statements, if anything, are very heterosexist.
"Did it cross your mind that the body parts that u claim are being sexualized by men r body parts that R NORMALY USED IN SEX (which she chooses to expose)? "
What kind of sex are you thinking of in which a women's breasts are ESSENTIAL to the act of sex? Last I checked, sex is a penis being inserted into a vagina. Breasts are only sexualized because our society sexualizes them. And whether she chooses to expose them or not NEVER gives the man a right to lay his hands on her.
5) To further define the phrase, ""commonly used in gaining sexual pleasur"" , 95% of the sexual positions allow easy access
to the breasts and backside of a women for a man to enhance his sexual experience. On the contrary, out of all of these sexual positions, there are not any particular body parts on a man(on average) that are used by women to help enhance their sexual experience.
6) This is why women don't view any particular body part on a man(aside from his groin area) as sexually as a man would a breast or her backside. Society plays on the reality of these natural differences even to the extremes that we witness the media taking. Both men and women are made for each others sexual pleasure..
7) why do you have such a one sided view of things? if that were true she would have no gender at all. neither would men. U can't separate the two. Separation only breeds extremes in either direction an independant MALE or independant FEMALE. When their gender ALONE clearly proves both of their dependency. Understanding and respecting both sides, and unity between the two is the only way the two can live in harmony.
Also note: I never said that a man has the right to lay a hand on a female (or vice versa). Nor did I soley blame "the victim" as you put it. I stated Virbatum that ""The reason why women's body parts are over scrutinized is (partly) because of the types of cloaths they wear" because I have a wholistic view of it unlike you who are solely blaming all men for this issue.
I never said that I am blaming men. I do however, put the blame on the men who commit violence against women and the men who rape women because they deserve to be blamed. I know very well that blaming all men is not the right way to think (otherwise, i would hate men and therefore not be in a relationship with a man). You are just trying to "even out the playing field" by saying that women sometimes ask for it with the types of clothes they wear. Skimpy clothes do not equal "Please rape me."
A) NO clearly no man should ever try to rape a women because of the way they dress. Some1 kidnapped my sister and that almost happened to her. I can't stick up for any such beast. I was only equaling out the playing field in regards to the sexualized status of womens bodys . Thats it. This video above claims the over sexualized body parts of women is solely due to the media. I was simply trying to show that these assertions ALONE are lacking full analysis of very relevant factors.
Wow. This is horrible. Thank you for uploading this.

I'm glad our gender can fight this nonsense off created by women
guystoners 1 year ago
feminism is demoralizing to women.

@ professorfoxtrot:
Feminism IS a branch of egalitarianism. "Egalitarian" is simply an umbrella term.
Feminists strive for equality between the sexes, NOT female supremacy.
And you say that the feminist movement lacks scientific evidence? Really? What about all the statistics on things like the wage gap, female genital mutilation, honor killings, and the objectification of women in the media?
Honestly, stop your trolling and get yourself an education. It's f*cking annoying.
vanizorc 1 year ago 2
@vanizorc Feminists strive for opportunism. The reality is that men and women are not equal. All the buildings, the skylines, the infrastructure of cities were created by men. What women want are equal wages for inequal share of labour. In essence feminism is an under the umbrella of fascism because since people are not naturally equal they must require government to intervene and force equality among unequal people. Checkmate.
professorfoxtrot 1 year ago
@ professorfoxtrot:
The reason why "all the buildings, skylines, and infrastructure of cities" were built by men is because women were not allowed to enter these fields and pursue higher education. Had women been allowed to pursue careers and higher education, they would have accomplished just as much as men.
vanizorc 1 year ago
@vanizorc Ask yourself, who created the institutions of higher education? Granted these institutions were taken seriously. Since then women have ruined the educational institutions where equity laws are concerned. All you need to obtain a degree is a pencil and daddy's money! But seriously, if women are just as capable as men, they wouldn't need laws that bend the fuck out of the rules, and they would need no one's permission just as men hadn't required!

Same church, different pew.

ankababe07 1 year ago
@vanizorc Anyone who claims that feminism refers to the equality of the sexes needs an education in logic, and the beauty of logic is that it's scientific not just faith based as feminism truly is. For example, the root word feminine refers to women, stupid. The suffix ism is a belief system! Ergo, feminism is a belief system acting int he interest of the feminine. Egalitarians act in the interest of equality, not feminists!
professorfoxtrot 1 year ago
@vanizorc Feminists don't even know what feminism is as evidenced by the fact they change the definition every year especially when they claim it refers to "equality of women." When pointing out the logical absurdity of expressing equality on behalf of any particular, they quickly changed the definition to "equality of the sexes" Feminism is an infintile belief system predicated on collectivism and opportunism much in the same way that racism is!
professorfoxtrot 1 year ago
It is about special rights. Women weren't treated equally in the pasts. Feminists had pushed for equal laws to make things equal under law for good reason. The problem is that they kept pushing now they have all kinds of special rights and unfair laws that work against men while benefitting them.
guystoners 1 year ago
@vanizorc The vast overwhelming majority of women want men to;
Take all the risks of rejection and approach women, pay for dates, gifts, meals ect.
Or is it just a lie?
embracingreality 1 year ago
@embracingreality Sexism goes both ways - whether it oppresses men by turning them into wage slaves, or oppressing women by turning them into sexual objects and/or domestic servants. In either case, sexism is the enemy. I completely agree that REAL feminists (people who stand for gender equality) should be in favour of disposing ALL sexist "traditions", such as the expectation that only men should pay for dates & meals, and/or only men should fight on the combat lines.....continued
vanizorc 1 year ago
@embracingreality ....Clearly, to truly stand for gender equality would require (for example) that women pay for dates just as often as men, and that women be allowed to fight in military combat lines just like their male counterparts. There should be no unnecessary gender discrimination whatsoever.
The women who insist, for example, that men always pay for dates are clearly NOT feminists - they are what I would call "female supremacists" (who perpetuate sexism against men).
vanizorc 1 year ago
@embracingreality And just as a little extra tidbit, when it comes to my boyfriend and I, I do an equal share, if not most, of the paying (for meals, drinks, movies, etc...). Likewise, I try to encourage any of my other friends who are in relationships to do the same, and take turns paying for things equally (and I inform them that expecting the guy to always do the paying is absolutely sexist against the male gender).
vanizorc 1 year ago
@embracingreality The reality is of course (MOST) women are honestly not interested in your definition of feminism or anything like actual equality. Women in reality want special privileges afforded them by outdated "chivalry" and they want special privileges afforded them by third wave feminism. Women then distort, mischaracterize and manipulate the definition of the word "equality". Men with any intelligence see through this and for this reason women are not taken seriously. How could they be?
embracingreality 1 year ago
@embracingreality Yes, of course it is the fault of women that for many years they were not allowed to fight in the war. Women have to fight to be taken seriously. It actually scares me when you speak about married men as if you are an authority and have experience as one. Perhaps your wife should have rejected you like all the other woman that saw through your advances and rejected you. You should be working on your hatred towards women as opposed to perpetuating sexism on Youtube.
2kool4skoolGHCJ 1 year ago 2
@2kool4skoolGHCJ I have no idea what your point is but I do not hate women. I do however hate dishonestly, manipulation, selfishness and I've found all these things in most women I've dated. I have yet to marry and it doesn't look very tempting as the vast majority of men I know married/divorced DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! If you think these are exceptions try searching online key words;
"Why young men are avoiding marriage"
"Men's marriage strike"
You clearly need an education besides fairytales.
embracingreality 1 year ago
@embracingreality Do you have anything bad to say about men, or is it just women that are dishonest, manipulative and selfish? For every one of those women you know I can point out a man who has done the same thing, or has treated women with total disrespect and as less than human. I am a realist and I hope to get married some day but I am well aware that marriages don't always work and that 1/2 get divorced. Considering I am graduating with a degree in psychology, I have an education my dear.
2kool4skoolGHCJ 1 year ago
@2kool4skoolGHCJ WHA? Why would anyone need to say anything else bad about men? Feminism has been blaming men for everything that ever went wrong in the world for 40+ years! Apparently women don't do well with accountability... You should be aware that currently 70% of divorces are filed by women and 75% of all divorces are "no fault" meaning absolutely NO REASON is needed.
Even IF you reach a doctorate in psychology you'll find great difficulty finding gainful employment.
Congratulations...

a lot of women (a lot, not all) treat themselves as objects, and are only worried about their looks, this has been like that before advertisement existed. I am not saying is a good thing, and it should be fixed with education, but you cant blame men or the advertising industry for vices that have centuries...
jrcolmena 2 years ago
@jrcolmena Blaming the advertising industry is a lot easier, just like it's easy to blame George Bush or the Jews for 9/11.
professorfoxtrot 2 years ago
The advertising industry acts on what society shows, and takes it to the next level. then the society takes it further and it becomes a never-ending cycle. The only way to stop is to not buy into.
tinkerbellgirlblue21 1 year ago
I agree that many women act this way--but also that they are the most accepted and assimilated into our culture. Those that don't, well, they're not accepted. That starts from elementary school. And yes, it's been throughout history that women should worry about their looks, but at that point it was supported by religious ideologies and the need to be married above all else. The best thing you can do is to teach your daughter to respect herself and love herself, and your son to respect women.

tinkerbellgirlblue21 1 year ago 4
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Feminism is a radical conception that suggests that women have certain rights and protections that men should not have. Thus the definition of feminism doesn't mean equality for the sexes as much as opportunism for women at the expense of men. It demands inequality of rights for the sake of equality, hence the provisions are solely in the interest of the 'feminine."
professorfoxtrot 1 year ago
@anchises666 ooh, I can answer that. A hot girl has a nice firm ass, supple firm breasts, a thin figure and nice long legs. Feminists would like to eliminate a man's sexual drive but it's just not going to happpen- sexy chicks ae here to stay. By the way, I should hope that you are not born with the image of a what a "hot chick" should look like otherwise we might end up with a pedofilia epidemic!
professorfoxtrot 2 years ago
Right, sure. But "hotness" shouldn't be the only concern of women, and if, God forbid, someone doesn't have legs as long as a Barbie-doll, that shouldn't make her feel less valuable. Believe me, attractiveness is much more tightly connected to how someone feels and behaves than to have the perfect amount of flesh or fat in the right places. With a smiling, interesting woman you could actually be happy. With a great body you can only fuck.
par0nnoyed 2 years ago 2
I'm glad you touched on this point because it demonstrates how irrational Kilborne's argument is. The question I want to know is what kind of person looks to advertising to form a deep emotional bond? That's what close friends and family are for! And who says non-sexy women are less valuable? Just because I wouldn't consider my mom in the context of sexuality doesn't make her less valuable to me! However, advertising is about grabbing the viewers attention and nothing does that like a sexy lady.
professorfoxtrot 2 years ago
I agree with you in respect of value and sexual attractiveness not being the same. But in Kilborne's video is not about people like you and me who understand and reflect upon such things, it's about teenagers whose main value-systems come from advertisements and B-rate movies, whose friends and family don't teach them moral codes and right and wrong, instead let pop cult items do that. And it's one thing grabbing attention by a pretty girl and another by a faceless d-cup.
par0nnoyed 2 years ago
I think if people do that they have no one to blame but themselves. When I was a teenager I was exposed to all sorts of pop related things that I never cared for like Britney Spears. I never detracted any of my values from them nor needed others to teach me not to.
professorfoxtrot 2 years ago
That's completely true. The creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer chose a young, thin, blonde-haired girl just so people would watch the show...then again...he created the show with the intent of creating a female who could go into a dark alley and kick it's ass

I ask only because it hasn't been until the last couple of years specialists have taken a serious look at EDNOS and realized the prevalence and severity of the diseased, putting it on par (or closer to) with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa in terms of health concerns. Binge Eating Disorder has also been made an official ED, and they've shown that most sufferers of ED do not meet full diagnostic criteria for Anorexia/Bulimia despite significant body damage, thus being EDNOS.

acapulco214 2 years ago 20
I think its hard to say at that age. Some students may understand but others may not. In honesty the media may be putting pressure on them but it is us as a society who allows them to do it because we buy into their adds. They wouldn't be showing such adds if it didn't sell to us as the consumers.
waunke56 2 years ago
@acapulco214 Required viewing? Yep I can picture it now, high school boys passing around copies of NOW magazine to their friends to view the feminist centerfold! But to be honest, like the U.S. military recruiters, feminists need to leave kids alone.

maidensnowflake 2 years ago
I admit that I probably misinterpreted some of your comments because of the way you phrased them, but two things are certain to me a this point.
1. Whether you are aware of it or not, you are making heterosexist comments assuming that ALL men and ALL women are made for each other when there actually are variations in terms of both sex and gender.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago
The reason why women's body parts are over scrutinized is partly because of the types of cloaths they wear. Just imagine if every guy walked around with skin tight pants revealing every dimple in their butts or the very shape of their privates , or if they wore booty shorts that revealed their private areas or perhaps shirts so tight that you could see their nipples. Pretty soon women would have a lot more to talk about and judge as well. If this became the norm, than so would the advertizers.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
Blame the victim, that is the best thing to do then you say? And no, for men it would not have the same effect. Men are able to walk around without shirts on and they are rarely sexualized because of that. When women walk around without shirts on, it is ALWAYS sexual thing only because women have breasts that are full and swollen. Men have breasts as well; just flat. And some men even have droopy breasts but they are not immediately sexualized for it.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago
1) Easy to claim but how can u prove that? I see women all the time smirking & whispering about over muscular guys that may walk around with their shirts off or in wifebeaters . Your gonne tell me that they r commenting on his intelligence? their thinking SEX TOO.. Probably not as much as men BUT exactly what are u referring to as sexualized? Did it cross your mind that the body parts that u claim are being sexualized by men r body parts that R NORMALY USED IN SEX (which she chooses to expose)?
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
2)On the contrary , there is only 1 area on a man's body which is most commonly used for her to gain sexual pleasure (his groin). Perhaps that has something 2 do with why men's bodys come under less scrutiny when exposed than woman's. Women r choosing to EXPOSE the parts of their body's which are most commonly used 4 his sexual pleasure. Why wouldn't a man think of sex when he looks at her? If u covered these areas like he covers his I guarantee your Body will be under just as less scrutiny.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
3) By nature, women have more areas of their body which are commonly used by men to gain sexual pleaser from than men do. This is why there are more of a women's body parts that are ,as you say, being sexualized than men's body parts.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
4) I know way to many Muslim women who never have these types of problems .They are never spoken to or even looked at in the same manner as the average women. I've seen non-Muslim men speak to them with total respect for their minds and who they were and in non-sexual ways or flirty ways, stepping out of their way when they walk and opening doors for them (in a non-flirtatious manner) because of their choice to cover the areas which a man commonly gains sexual pleasure from.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
Women are not made for men's sexual pleasure!! Women are their own beings and not THINGS to be used by men! You are terrible.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago 2
""""Women are not made for men's sexual pleasure!! "" You are terrible. """"""
WOW I guess Im only as terrible as any other women ( and possibly even u) who has ever gained sexual pleasure through a man.. That last statement made a LOT of sense,NOT especially since it can apply to anyone who gains sexual pleasure by means of the opposite gender. GENDER Which only proves that men and women were in fact MADE for each others sexual pleasure.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
The way you phrased it was wrong then, making it seem as though women are here in order for men to receive pleasure (and hey, what about homosexual men?) Your statements, if anything, are very heterosexist.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago
"Did it cross your mind that the body parts that u claim are being sexualized by men r body parts that R NORMALY USED IN SEX (which she chooses to expose)? "
What kind of sex are you thinking of in which a women's breasts are ESSENTIAL to the act of sex? Last I checked, sex is a penis being inserted into a vagina. Breasts are only sexualized because our society sexualizes them. And whether she chooses to expose them or not NEVER gives the man a right to lay his hands on her.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago
5) To further define the phrase, ""commonly used in gaining sexual pleasur"" , 95% of the sexual positions allow easy access
to the breasts and backside of a women for a man to enhance his sexual experience. On the contrary, out of all of these sexual positions, there are not any particular body parts on a man(on average) that are used by women to help enhance their sexual experience.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
Comment removed
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
6) This is why women don't view any particular body part on a man(aside from his groin area) as sexually as a man would a breast or her backside. Society plays on the reality of these natural differences even to the extremes that we witness the media taking. Both men and women are made for each others sexual pleasure..
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
7) why do you have such a one sided view of things? if that were true she would have no gender at all. neither would men. U can't separate the two. Separation only breeds extremes in either direction an independant MALE or independant FEMALE. When their gender ALONE clearly proves both of their dependency. Understanding and respecting both sides, and unity between the two is the only way the two can live in harmony.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
Also note: I never said that men are not sexualized; I said RARELY. Not nearly as much as women are.
maidensnowflake 2 years ago
Also note: I never said that a man has the right to lay a hand on a female (or vice versa). Nor did I soley blame "the victim" as you put it. I stated Virbatum that ""The reason why women's body parts are over scrutinized is (partly) because of the types of cloaths they wear" because I have a wholistic view of it unlike you who are solely blaming all men for this issue.
JamiKnowsHowToFlow 2 years ago
