  • ...........WTF is the "last guardian". i saw this movie in a 2 dollar theater back in 1995 and was totally blown away.

  • Oh wow, I made my "Last Guardian" comment a whole two years ago and... 1) The game still isn't out. 2)This song (and the movie it comes from) is still great.

  • he made soundtracks for twilight :)

  • This movie was the first film my father show me. Now, after ten years, i can remember this amazing song...

  • Steve Buscemi?

    No!

  • It's okay if we talk about The Last Guardian, the game is not some kind COD-type game..its a freaking ART!!!!!!!

  • Oh wow, I commented on this thing 2 years ago.

I swear it was the other day.

    Still a great, great song.

  • @Minyobi083

When The Last Guardian releases on PS3, it will be a beautiful day.

  • "Look in your heart! Look in your Heart!"

    "What Heart?"

    Bang!

  • This music in Miller's Crossing is 'The Lament of Limerick', I doubt the Shawshank would have had to pay a royalty or obtain permission as it is in the public domain.

    Blucher

  • Does anyone know why they used this song for the Shawshank Redemption theme? Like, did they have to get the rights to it?

  • @sonicfilms123 yea i've noticed that too, i have no idea why

  • 2nd Best Soundtrack after The Good, Bad, and Ugly,

  • I watched millers crossing long time ago then i saw the last guardian trailer and i my thought what a awesome combination because i forgot that piece of masterwork!!!

The movie was really good and the last guardian i hope also !!

  • Carter Burwell? Are You serious? I thought they"re called "Celtic Spirits" and the song is likely from "The Last of the Mohicans" soundtrack...

  • Greatest tune there ever was

  • quiero musica de el y no consigo me la podrian brindar

  • Music like this makes me feel so EMOTIONAL!

  • What a beautiful piece, i love it.

  • Carter Burwell.... always puts one in the brain

  • Clynch I think it's 'Ghirlandeina, veta mia'

  • Anyway, Gabriel Byrne is good like always.

  • dying to find out what the song sung right before Tom (Gabriel Byrne) thinks he's going to be wacked....it's in italian and seems not to be on the soundtrack

  • SWORDS WILL FUCKIN CUT A BABY IN HALF

  • Ha! I thought so. SWORDS WILL FUCKING CUT YOU WIDE OPEN!

  • Strange that the music is so beautiful and triumphant given that the film is dark and ends in defeat.

  • It doesnt end in defeat!

  • heh they used this song in "The Last Guardian" trailer

its very beautiful to hear this c:

I wonder if this movie is good

  • Can someone PLEASE direct me to a full version of this song

  • There is a youtube "Miller's Crossing Theme - High Quality' that is 4:45 long.

This music was written for the movie, based on a folk tune called "Limerick's Lament', so it's unlikely to be found anywhere but the movie soundtrack.

  • @Mdebacle Yeah this melody is (as you said) "The Lament For Limerick". Its on a record by Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill called "The Lonesome Touch"

  • Classic movie complimented by a classic track.

Yes, The Last Guardian always comes up but this is Team fucking ICO we are talking about here. They are not some corporate douche bags that releases COD and bullshit every year to make money.

Team ICO's only two games plays around with your fucking emotions that no other games can match.

Mr. Burwell should feel honored that his music is used in a game that is more closer to a storybook and epic in all proportions.

  • Fucking EA... the German jackets were so thick blood wouldn't show through them... what a crock of shit!

  • Well said.

  • @felaria speak the truth!

  • @felaria

I agree, Japanese Video-Game makers put substance, style, and dedication to their games. Something the American vgm wouldn't know how to comprehend.

  • @Romansteel13 That's because you haven't play anything made by indie developers probably and haven't seen the other commercial titles that won't come from Japan.

  • @fdslk1

You are subscribed to EA, shows how much value your opinion on games are.

IT is invalid, thank you for trying.

  • @Romansteel13 hey, noob: I have a profile at moddb, I also have it at Indiedb, I am an indie game developer, so what if I'm suscribed to EA, get real kiddo, your argument is LAME.

  • @fdslk1

I don't care that you're an Independent game developer,

Have you created a game that has garnered millions of sales upon sales?

    Thought so.

    I have, now GTFO.

    Idiotic, independent game developer HAHAHAHA.

  • @Romansteel13 Have you created at least one? Answer: No.

So you should really GTFO since you're trolling (badly) and showing how little you are, pathetic. Also, Half-life 2 and Shadow of the Colossus and even Unreal started at garages, no one is born from AAA titles, poor little prick, I feel pity at you.

  • @fdslk1

I work for the second most prestigious game company in Japan, Konami. Where do you work at? Thought so, your moms basement. You are just a jealous loser, who calls himself independent, because no one hired you.

My car alone is worth more than your house and the basement which you live in. Mr. Independent Game Developer. You are the pathetic one here, Half-Life 2 is a terrible example of a garage success metaphor. Minecraft would had been a more apt and suitable example. IDIOT.

  • @Romansteel13 Cool story, bro. Unreal (back at 99 started as a garage game, same goes for HL)

  • @fdslk1

I never talked about Unreal Tournament, I said Half-Life two, which was made on November 2004. Certainly not a garage game, IDIOT. It was made by a CORPORATION, known as VALVE. Idiot.

  • @Romansteel13

Did you knew that Unreal Tournament weren't the first game of the series? The first one was just "Unreal" just like that, I named Half-life 2 mainly 'cause Valve started as team of modders for Quake 1. It's funny how you still call me idiot when you can't even comprehend what I'm saying, once again: Cool Story, bro, go back to /b/ and pretend you work for Konami. Some people (like me) just got in this video because actually enjoyed this Coen Brothers movie.

  • @fdslk1

Diverting the subject, because you were trapped in an argument you could not win. Typical basement dweller.

I never once mentioned Unreal Tournament.

"Also, Half-life 2 and Shadow of the Colossus and even Unreal started at garages"

Idiot. Team ICO works in a 2,000,000 yen a month complex, in Kyoto.

If a 115,000 square foot building is a garage to you. Then by all means.

    get owned.

Mr. Independent Game Dev, living with your parents.

    hahahah what a loser.

  • @Romansteel13

Again: They all STARTED, past tence, hence, everybody was an indie before being part of the corporation. I mentioned tho' UT in your previous comment. Dude, you can't even keep up into what we're "talking" About. Really, go play The Neverhood (published by Dreamworks, developed by an indie team at the time) or Braid or Machinarium and you'll realize that indie games, have the same quality "your" Team Ico can deliver. Diverting the subject is talking about games in a movie ost.

  • @Romansteel13 Also, is sad how much you need to demand for attention, and using personal attacks (if we can call this personal) is proving how right I am, because you can prove yourself, so you try downsizing everybody else, as you do on other videos you posted, saying you were "working" on that field too... Amazingly, you work on Konami (the big brother of japan) and you talk about aura in gaming (Horkheimer context)

  • @fdslk1

    TL;DR.

Jesus, two replies in under 8 minutes, you must be fuming. I apologize for getting you angry.

Two angry walls of text, because I eviscerated you, mentally, intellectually and psychologically.

I must've gotten under your skin, since you are seething with hatred.

  • @fdslk1

"Did you knew that Unreal Tournament weren't the first game of the series?"

No I did not "knew" that, nor did I know that Unreal Tournament "weren't" the first game of the series.

Your grammar is absolutely atrocious. Syntax-- nonexistent. No wonder, no one hired you as a Game Developer. You are functionally retarded.

  • @Romansteel13 English is not my natural language, analphabet would fit, but the message is still understandable. No wonder you're posting on youtube rather than making games for Konami, yet this is internet, no one cares for youtube conversations, so, I'll make this proposal, since this is getting nowhere: Can you post something you did for a videogame and give some input? Let's say: Advice from a pro developer to an indie who is learning. And nope, I'm not angry, I'm just insomniac.

  • @fdslk1

the old "English is not my natural language" defense.

I speak 5 languages, do you see me making any syntax errors? Thought so. You are just an ignorant fool, who has a low literacy level.

Gago, tarantado ka idoita ka. - Tagalog

    Y Pobrecito, Cabrones - Spanish

    Scheisse Fotze - German

    Idiot.

  • @Romansteel13 De hecho, hiciste uno. Se escribe: "Pobrecito, cabron" Cabrones is plural, so, there you go a mistake, can we please stop this?

  • @fdslk1

    wrong, mr. paraguay.

Se escribe: "Y Pobrecito, Cabrones". I'm insulting your father too, for raising such a weak child.

If could understand that, good, if not: google translator could help you out.

Respecto a tu segundo comentario. Le respondi eso por que el tipo afirmaba saber que se escribia, no hay mayor arma para la mentira que la mas pura verdad. En fin, ya que estoy, volvere a escuchar este melodia, me gusto esta pelicula.

  • @fdslk1 Well... I've always need opportunities to practice my Spanish. Who'd have thought it would be while telling someone to ignore a blatant troll who has no life?

It's actually kind of sad how I have to practice my Spanish: coming from a Cuban family, you'd think I would know Spanish really well, right? (And even when it's not second nature, I know that he fucked up with plural: anyone who knows Spanish knows that the adjetives are pluralized in addition to the nouns.)

    How'd I do?

  • Miller's Crossing is a hell of a movie. Every bit a gangster classic.

  • You know, us gamers are only looking like idiots going into every Miller's Crossing video and talking about The Last Guardian.

At least check out the damned movie.

  • People should check out the movie regardless of the game.

    Great movie.

  • @Minyobi I for one am not a gamer so I have not heard of that game everybody raves about on each Miller's Crossing video, all I know is this classic film.

  • @Minyobi Thank you.

  • As long as people appreciate his work I don't think he would care where they first heard it. If he knows anything about Team ICO and how seriously they take their craft he'd be honored that they used his music.

  • I'll always remember being the theme to an awesome movie

  • He would be honored that they used his score to represent something like the last guardian.

He should be hitting his head against a brick wall for doing the Twilight soundtrack. :| Damn preteens/teens will not appreciate a good instrumental score, all they need is Hannah Montannah or the Jonas Brothers.

Kinda makes me sad really. :\

  • how many times a day do you pound the peter?

  • Sniff now I can't watch Millers Crossing anymore without thinking about The Last Guardian trailer and how it almost makes me cry. If Ico and SOTC are anything to go by then look forward to a PS3 Classic.

  • "The last guardian"

  • This really does fit The Last Guardian quite beautifully......

  • TLG looks fantastic. I might check out this movie for this piece of music

  • ICO and shadow of the Collosus......Classic material...cant wait for TLG

  • i must admit. the first time i saw the new trailer for The Last Gaurdian there was something in my eyes ha ha....was such a touching piece to be put together with TLG....TLG Forever guys Rock on.......

  • This music was also used for Shawshank Redemption trailer. That's the first time I heard this music, and then I saw the Last Guardian trailer which blew me away how they fit this in. That trailer really touched me, and the music did it.

  • Erm its "The Last Guardian" ....trico was a placeholder....

  • Tricooooooo! <3 best combination of music and visuals ever. thanks to this wonderful piece of music.

  • My god, love the music!. Trico is gonna be a huge hit on the PS3, i'm really sure of that, these is the kind of game wich has action, adventure, fun and so much emotions. Thanks Team ICO for making this possible. :D

  • Was it the trailer or the music? Perhaps the combination. Now this will be forever asociated in my mind with Trico. I tear up everytime somehow now.

  • I am exactly the same. EXACTLY.

Well I don't tear up, but yeah. WOw... Love the change in pace halfway through. Christ, i love this music.

  • Tricooooooooooo!!!

  • Project Trico in everyones heart 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    <333333333333333

  • TRICO!!!

  • who is TRICO???

  • YORDA!! >.>

  • TRICO FTW!!!!!

  • OMFG, NO WAY! TRICO, IS THAT YOU?

  • damn i want this, but not as much as i want TRICO ^_^

  • TRICO!!

    *eyes water*

  • Man, it didn't take long for you guys to learn of where this song came from.

You know, this is just like when the first trailer for when The Legend of Zelda Twilght Princess was released; instead of using a song from the game soundtrack, they instead took a song from a soundtrack of a movie.

To those who don't remember, the first Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess trailer featured riders of doom from the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack.

I wonder what the game soundtrack will be like.

  • I LOVE TRICO!

but seriously, its just a placeholder song for now. the video is a year and a half old.

  • TRICO

  • TRICO

  • TRICO!

  • trico ftw

  • TRICO

  • I don't think it's disgraceful, it's just an intertext.

  • For those who may not know this, this composer did not write this tune. It's a traditional Irish tune, and what's disgraceful is that it was used without any acknowledgement.

  • who did the original???

  • It's a traditional Irish song called Limerick's Lament.

  • You do know that many traditional tunes have the sheet music changed and certain instrumental accompaniments altered so that new composers actually can get credit for creating new versions, right?

  • It's a direct transposition of the tune without credit, and people are led to believe it's the composer's own creation when it isn't.

  • I dunno - a lot of things "sound" like direct rip-offs, but with the actual sheet music in front of you, you can see the differences. I've dealt with Gospel music before, and there are a ton of new recordings of traditional Gospel songs and hymns that are registered under the new singer's name, so I'm used to seeing this.

  • I take your point, but if you compare actual recordings of the air itself with this version, there's little discernible difference. And I don't resent using traditional music this way; I do resent that it is passed off by the film makers as their own work.

  • hi there

    a very clever movie

    mickytwoknives

  • lindo tema :)

  • im considerably a new burwell fan. but i really enjoy his score for 'in bruges'. great movie too.

  • @satriani404 A Serious Man score is great as well.

  • @satriani404 you might want to check out his theme for fargo and a serious man

  • one of the best films ever; one of the greatest pieces written for film; quite unique and uncharacteristic. beautiful..

  • yes - its brilliant

    Coen Brothers best film

  • Thank you for uploading this. :)
