  • It would be more effective if there was no commercial aspect to the video promoting products.

  • @mdwise12 there isn't... I'm just showing options of solutions... some are homemade, some are purchased. I even put a carseat coat trick in there.

  • I sell car seat ponchos as well, on Etsy! Search for SunRaye Designs on Facebook :)

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been struggling to compromise with DH over car seats and coats... especially when it gets to negative degrees here.

  • I wish every parent could watch this video! We use a warm quilt and soft down jacket for DD. When she was an infant, we used a 'shower cap' cover for the infant carseat.

  • Just be sure to check that with an infant carrier cover as shown in here, that when the seat is placed on the base that it does not interfere with the base properly snapping down. I caught this many times with my own kids. usually under the child's feet area. I just started pulling back on the seat to ensure it was in tight.

  • @swtgi1982 haha I do the same thing, i actually do it out of habit and if anyone else place my DD in their car i always do it their to and my sister knows that i am a safty carseat advocate and after she installs the carseast in her car she always has me come and check them befor she goes anywhere with them. and I alway lift up on my 10month olds infant seat to make sure it is in good and tight.

  • GREAT video!! Great idea for making it! I know way too many mommies out there who put their kiddos in snow suits around here and now I know to avoid that with the car seat and my LO this winter! Thanks!

  • holy crap that is scary. Someone from BBC brought attention to this vid and I thank them. And to you for making this! Thankfully we live in orange county where it never gets too cold. I will be sure to pass this along as well and again thank you!

  • Great job on the video. As a Car Seat Tech Instructor and manager of a county wide car seat station, we try to get this point across constantly. As one of my fellow instructors like to say "Slack Kills!" Having your child tightly secured in thier car seat EVERY time is so important.

  • Good information!

  • A bonus of using stuff over the straps is that once the car gets warmed by the heater, you can easily take off some of the layers without disturbing the baby.

  • Yes... an exellent point!

older babies, toddlers, and children can even do so for themselves. It is why my 7yr old prefers to wear any jacket on backwards over his seatbelt... when he gets all warm, he can bring it down to his lap or hand it to me, but also, if he gets sleepy, it makes him feel all cozy like a blanket.

  • @KatMomof3 whats the title of the song and the artist???thanks

  • Dude. I seriously need to send this to someone I know. She has her 3 yr old rear facing in a Britax and she uses the car set correctly, but she always puts a really puffy coat on Sydni ( her daughter) she thinks that if she just tightnes the harness than shes fine! UGGG she never listens to me about that. I will send this to her! :) Thanks for making this video!

  • when I saw the photos on Babycenter, the first thought I had was to make a video so that the message could be spread more easily.

I'd never had the chance to do those kind of pics before with my kids as babies, but still had Ruthie for demoing the cheat...

Please... send it to them... I think just seeing the baby and what it looks like with the coat removed says it all.
