Maybe it's because I had the spring tension somewhat low but the Cobra Coil was bringing the footboard back faster than the beater, creating slack in the chain and causing a clunking/clicking feeling. And that's exactly why I thought the Coil is a bad idea. It would make way more sense on a direct drive pedal. I'm still going to experiment but I'll probably just remove the Coil. The Speed Cobra still feels really good without it anyway. I think the Cobra Coil is a pretty flawed idea.
@ACompetitiveHalo He had his left foot over the left kick pedal AND the hihat at the same time. I think he was "leading" with his left foot too, so he was playing 8th notes starting on the 1 with the left kick and hihat simultaneously and playing between those 8th notes with the right kick.
Is the Speed Cobra that much better than a IC Power Glide? Someone answer me, because I'm about to get a new pedal for the holidays, and I wanna get the best one!
how about showing drummers that don't play double kick pedals, and have them demonstrate on the single pedal as well.??..it almost seems as if Tama is targeting the metal genre and nothing else... ...not fair...
@blica1 Yeah but the doubles have 2 times as more stuff/parts, and have more crap that can go wrong....So just think, if the double is that good, than the single should be even better.
@zimd Im sure you can order one spec for it. I do know that pdp makes a lefty double bass pedal, im right foot, but to be honest, i rather spend a little extra money for a double kick drum, and just throw dbl bass pedals out the window all together. It seems no matter what pedal i get on, there is always lag, and i spend more time adjusting the stupid bars, and length, than actually playing. I learned to play drums on a single kick pedal, and learned double and triple rolls with a single pedal.
@aztasarg Actually no, he shouldn't. Any professional drummer or sound tech will tell you a kick should be tightened JUST far enough that the head isn't wrinkled. This ensures that you get the most appropriate and 'true' tone out of your kick.
@tubadude1818 definatly go for the speed cobras,it has more room for your foot than the iron cobra and iron cobra jrs. it is also very durable, ive had mine for a few months now and there hasn't been any problems so far.
it really just depends on your style of playing. if you like fast, speed metal drums then use Axis,if you like regular ddouble bass playing then speed cobras are the shit
I just got an Iron Cobra...I tried them both out, Speed cobra was only 10 dollars more but it felt heavier than the Iron cobra so I just got that, it's tough for me to decide which one to get
@DannyDrumz trying a pedal in a drum store its a complete compromise.. sometimes the pedals feels heavier because of the position of the beaters and the spring tension.. when you try a pedal you need to ask to the seller that if you can adjust the pedals the way you like them.. that way you will know wich pedal works best for you (= i have an iron cobra and its completly kick ass but i have never tried the speed ones.. sorry for my bad english jajaja
for his pace he don't need the speedcobra

Super smooth. The Cobra coil was a good idea, but doesn't really work.
very close to the higher market products eg...Pearl demondrivers

@fullyAsianeric The speed cobra is lighter, faster , lower mass and more articulate than the over priced, over hyped demon drive.
