  • i say:cool song,gentlemen...cool song!

  • This song is my message to SOPA.

  • My jaw has just fell down hearing this...

  • OMG that is so mean to say that. fuck you!

  • Eargasm... So much wax... Everywhere.

  • this moved me to tears ..amazing ..

  • I have been scouering youtube for songs that support a few characters I've made in a role play. This one seems to fit the Captain VERY well ans as such I have set it as her theme song.

I can imiginer her saying/singing every last line.

  • Well I hope you enjoy just listening to the music, because to make a battle/story vid to go along with this and do it justice, is, in context of cost Vs audience numbers, pretty much not going to happen. Damn shame though because this song just screams "Oh hell! its REALLY going to kick off now!"

  • I'm working on a roleplay centered around stampunk and this song is really helping me with the inspiration for how thew final battle is going to go out. I've even unoffically made it the themesong to the Captin of my airship. thank you so much to the composer and also to whoever posted it.

  • How can people dislike this?!? It's so amazing...

  • @renee1092 Four people are upset over their goggles breaking...

  • @wynternight777 That would do it, I suppose

    xD

  • so beautiful i nearly cried

  • Although I will agree with some of the people saying that steampunk music is simply music inspired by steampunk, there are consistent styles. Typically, steampunk music is an amalgamation of punk, cabaret, contemporary or Victorian classical, and industrial.

  • @needlecake I guess one can call it Neo-Victorian music to refer to Steampunk. Perhaps call it historical or atlernative punk, retro-futuristic or uchronian punk as a catch-all to refer to all genre of alternate history which include Dieselpunk, Gaslight romance, Gaslamp fantasy, Cyberpunk and Cyberprep to name a few.

  • @needlecake does that not defined steampunk itself, not just the music?

  • @lordbeeswax No, steampunk itself has a pretty solid definition.

  • Beautiful!! Steampunk is awesome

  • For once... I have encountered true music.

  • Not only is this song amazing, but the Clockwork Dolls has to be the best band name ever.

  • Just one word: Epic

  • Steampunk is like pornographic images-- You know it when you see it.

  • Steampunk is like pornographic images-- You know it when you see it.

  • Go to steampunk conventions and support your local studios. When your everyday stuff stops looking like shit you buy at the mall and more like something out of a steampunk fantasy. That is when you know you are there >;D

My every clothes are 1910 ish. I just fell into them being the most comfortable.

I wouldn't have any problem seeing more of this stuff besides myself. But I also understand getting a face full of fist isn't good either. Just stick with what you feel good about.

  • @adridurbs I believe there is such a thing as freedom of speech, so go fuck yourself.

  • :D

  • when i get right down to what steampunk is... this hits it. in a dark delightful irish jig type of a way...

  • @adridurbs It's a meme. u mad?

  • I find this easy to masturbate to.

  • This is just... wow.

  • This is just... AWESOME! I can't find words... Im in love with that song.

  • This is so beautiful, it always makes me think of the last pirates of the caribean movie though.

  • Reminds me of Les Miserable's "One Day More" LOL

"Let me get my clockwork rifle and then we'll bring them down!!!"

  • This is actually pretty good. The things you find following one link after another. Glad I did.

  • this is the best song out of the whole thing ( truth be told, I've only listened to about 4 of them) ( iron rose, maiden voyage, impartial, etc)

  • This is, without a doubt, one of the best songs I've heard in a long while. Thanks you so much for posting this. *internet hug*

  • @23animosity23 No problem ^_^

  • Thank you for posting this song!

  • "Impartial" is an odd battlecry.

  • Its just Epic

  • It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp here folks. Steampunk started off as literature where the style and environment was similar to Edwardian era science fiction. The term was coined as a tongue and cheek joke based off of the phrase Cyberpunk and has little to do with punk music. Steampunk music is simply music that takes it's inspiration from the steampunk aesthetic. That's it...there's not that much else to it.

  • Meeting the Clockwork Dolls in person was awesome :s

Sitting down with them for tea was great!

  • @zanazans Katsucon!!

  • @xXxfearagentxXx

Yup, great stuff, hope everyone there had fun!

  • @zanazans Lucky you =o

  • @needlecake lucky damn bastard ;)

  • i know that it is supposed to be steampunk...but where is the PUNK in this ?

  • @Nericon Steampunk really describes a literary/visual genre and only recently went into music. Steampunk despite the name has little to do with punk music.

  • Goggles, pipes, steam. It can't be that hard.

  • steampunk isn't a defined sound...it's a defined culture. it's not what you do, it's who you choose to be...WHAT YOU ARE. When punk music hit the scene it didn't always have the same sound, but it did create a culture. punks of the world united and were one. steampunk is the next generation, the next wave, and it's fitting because it shows a world that is fractured and yet advanced. It's what punk wanted to be, but didn't know what it was missing.

  • the instrumental parts are just beautiful :)

  • animation or live action movie?

  • I was given this album by a close friend, and after giving it a listen, all I can say is wow. It sort of changed the way I view music. It's just beautiful. Simply incredible.

  • The reason why Steampunk cannot be defined musically is because in reality it is not a subkulture at all but is actually turning into a entire Culture. In fact Steampunk, Aristocraft / Lolita, and Victorian Goth all fall under a blanket called "Neovictorian" which is in fact a front for a very powerful paradigm shift that will occur in the United States and England. Where as punk seeks "chaos" and "anarchy" the Neovictorian movements seek to restore Order and Tradition...where HONOUR prevails.

  • nice.. especially the last 2 sentences,, i agree :P

  • @widugeist now i agree but listen to abney park, they are frikkn airship pirates (or wood b in ther imagination) and how much more original punk can you get than the pirates?

  • @widugeist I like your definition. HONOUR is lacking in our society. Bring it back!

  • @widugeist You're looking WAYYY to into this. Jussayen'. Can't you just enjoy the culture?

  • @widugeist Not that I don't support a few of your beliefs. But I love Steampunk because it's so unique and fun. Why must there be a crazy backstory for it? It was a literary genre that became a subculture. Long live steampunk in all it's forms.

  • @BiggusBro Well said, dude.

  • @widugeist This is a very powerful, an also inspiring way to define Steampunk and anything alike. Thank you for this comment. I felt like there was a battle to be fought reading it along with the music : )

  • @widugeist You've lost the plot friend.

  • @widugeist Steampunks cool and everything bro, but uh, the steampunk "movement" in America is all but non-existant and almost no one even knows what steampunk is.

So uh, maybe in England, but it ain't happening here bub. Would be cool though, I'd sign up to be airship crew in a heartbeat.

  • @SpaceMarine2007 Actually steampunk in America is going very strong, steampunk music as an emerging genre started in San Fransisco in 2003 and the biggest name in Steampunk Music is right up in Seattle. Some of the biggest conventions in Steampunk are in New Jersey, Seattle, and Michigan. Let's not forget that The Clockwork Dolls is based in Baltimore, MD, which is definitely in the states. Steampunk might not be mainstream like emo but it's not "non existant".

  • @widugeist I salute that, good sir!

  • @widugeist and style!!

  • @widugeist Brilliant point! I concur! :)

  • @widugeist not just the u.s and u.k we have a massive following in australia also. people are getting sick of the mass produced plastic society that we are TOLD to like. keep the fires burning to keep the cogs turning.

  • Good speech. Long live Order and Tradition. And may we be Victorious!

  • @widugeist Wait one moment, what about us anarchist steampunks? :P

  • @DrDolansKinetoscope

In a Traditional environment, individual differences are respected. Therefore I do not oppose your decision to adhere to anarchist ideas even though I do not agree with them. It is only when anarchist ideas lead people to defacing other peoples property or breaking the law that I would have issue with them. The most sacred duty of any lawful and good society is to protect peoples right to believe or say whatever they want as long as they are not spreading libel or slander

  • @widugeist it depends which way you look at it, lots of "punks" are into anarchy and chaos, but a select few are into anarchy without chaos, anarchy as an ideology is simple, there is nobody to tell you what to do, but you judge what you do on your own morality, with the power to be able to freely rebel and destroy, comes the responsibity not to, although people would take advantage of the system, in perfect society there would be no need for a goverment as everyone would help each other out.

  • @CHEAPANDUNCHEERFULL im into anarchy without chaos. theres already enough chaos as it is. but seeing as for real anarchy to happen, it would require less week-minded fools than it attracts, which wont happen anytime soon sooo i find myself manipulating the system for my best intrests and shrugging at the 'law' in situations in where i see it fit, all while maintaining my morals as a person and trying to pass them along to others, without condoning mischevious actions that i myself partake in

  • @CaptainRachireAndel You bet yer ass it will be! Heh

  • Powerful voice, and wonderful song! I envision an epic airship battle to this.

"A fire fight to light the sky!"

  • @WrathConstantine Oh it will be so. It WILL Be So!.

  • Indeed!

  • Cruelhazel writes: "Unlike subcultures that are centered on a certain type of music and move onto visual elements later, Steampunk is first defined by its aesthetic elements."

Yes, you make a good argument and I agree with most of what you say other than to point out that actually Steampunk was initially defined as a literary phenomenon rather than a visual one.

  • @victorbendix This is true but literature still describes elements which we visualize in our head and the author often takes the time to visualize his/her world prior to or during the writing phase. An aesthetic is the feeling of what is brought up which could also be conveyed just as much through literature as with any other form.

  • Could anyone please define steampunk music for me? I am a music theory student and this really interests me but I can't find an adequate definition for it. Thank you!

  • @loveismydestruction basicaly it should be just enriched victorian era music, right?

  • along with what Cahircz said it is based off the 19th century when steam power was still widely used. there is a wikipedia page on it also with a good amount of info

  • @loveismydestruction Steampunk has no real "sound." Unlike subcultures that are centered on a certain type of music and move onto visual elements later, Steampunk is first defined by its aesthetic elements. Therefore, you're left with an amalgam of bands from all genres attempting to fill the Steampunk niche. Steampunk music isn't so much about the sound as it is about the context of the music & the band. With airships and Victoriana, The Clockwork Dolls are a good example of Steampunk context.

  • @loveismydestruction I read your comment, copied it into my friends MSN window, then answered your question at him. I am not sure why. *steampunk *is nothing formal *structural *melodic *rhythmic *NOTHING in theory *words i am forgetting *it isn't them either *it is an aesthetic *like industrial metal *you can take *the same song as written *make it industrial or not *steampunk comes from the instruments and tones and mixing *and is defined pretty intuitively
  • @loveismydestruction What music would sound like if the future, along with its revolutionary change in musical taste, had happened sooner (Specifically the late victorian era).

  • @loveismydestruction i dont get it eather its not just the music its the hole culture for me but i cant make heads or tails of any of it im lossst as hell

  • @loveismydestruction The heart of anything steampunk is the application of new techniques with and antique aesthetic or vise versa. In the case of music, this is usually accomplished by combining synth-pop and industrial music with Orchestral music.

  • @EtherPilot I love the "vise versa." vise is obviously more steam punk than vice. Very neat!

  • @loveismydestruction alot of people consider it music inspired by the fictional neovictorianist movement of steampunk mainly airships and airship pirates, victorian high-tech engineering. like, bionic parts made out of clockwork. that kind of thing. know what steampunk is you'll know what the music is.

  • @loveismydestruction it isn't really a musical genre, unlike punk where the music inspired the fashion and is the main force of the subcultre. Steampunk began as more visual style of dress which derived from literary sources such as Jules verne or HG wells, and some more contempary authors who take a victorian/industrial age vision of the future. The music generally is inspired by instruments and orchestal sounds of this period, but with more of a modern arrangement, it's a mish mash of styles.

  • Steampunk songs are so lovely. <3

  • Uberari

You should listen to the song again....

  • There is all of this music that promotes such sick and twisted views. However, in the midst of this darkness there is a diamond that shines with a light both Noble and True, and that light is the Clockwork Dolls. When you listen to their music, you literally become a better person afterwards. The ethic of honour, heroi...sm and chivalry will live once again!

  • Comment removed

  • @widugeist you know this song is about pirates right...?

  • this band is getting really popular now! they should really be at abney parks level of popularity.

  • Classic very good and nice lyrics.

This is nice full score to this. (^-^)

  • I would love some lyrics for this.

  • Thanks for posting I am brand new, and too old for, steampunk music, but I love it.

  • @dimplasm You're never to old for music! ^_^

  • @dimplasm age means nothing, if you enjoy it, then you are not too old for it.
