  • whaa??analsworth is a preacher now? haa ugh he was funny as hell

  • Christianity isn't an intolerant religon. There are just SOME CHRISTIANS that are intolerant. And Liberal and Christianity DO mix. Some people are just too dumb to see that.

  • I watched this in my Feminist Studies Class, it shocked us that this kind of stuff happens in the USA!

  • religion will be the death of the human race.

  • I just watched this, and all I can say is- what an amazing young woman. She inspires me!

  • @PaizleyBullock1 in some ways i wanna say fuck you, but in others i agree....

  • Christianity is the most intolerant belief in the world? That's totally wrong read the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus) in the Bible and you'll see how much he talks about tolerance.

  • One of my colleagues is an evangelical christian, but he did an extensive study comparing teen pregnancy rates in England and in the U.S., never even considering that it might be RELIGION that's creating the problem! As they say, a fish will be the last to discover water.

  • it's never a single cause. GB has haf the teen pregnancy rates (351000) of the USA (70/1000) which are AGAIN increasing thanks to bush) but the netherlands have the lowest rates in the world like 10 pregnant teens per 1000, maybe 12 or 13.

While the Dutch don't go to church, a majority considers themselves Christians.

They just have a REALLY good condom distributing scheme, and the state pays for THE pill, AND the morning after pill, and abortions if you're under 18!

  • Did I say it was a SINGLE cause? No. But religion is DEFINITELY the culprit here. You bring up the Dutch, but you fail to mention the huge Atheist and Agnostic influence there. Also, regardless of whether people describe themselves as "christian," it's the ones who refuse to live by those old christian rules that are the most enlightened. If you lived you life according to the bible, you'd be dead in a week...and so would a lot of other people you're forced to kill cuz "god" said to do it.

  • Religion is the culprit in USA ... but you gotta realize that North-American christianity is a very WARPED&DISTORTED form of christianity. And then I'm talking about the fascist extreme ReichWing version of it

When Gandhi said: "I like Jesus Christ, it's a shame Christians aren't more like him", I guess he was reffering to those Fundi-christians.

Personally, I know a lotta REAL Christians who are really nice & decent people.

Dutch aren't hugely atheist, they just don't like churches

  • You're wrong. North Americans practice a form of christianity that is FAR more accurate than the liberal form apologists try to portray as "real" christianity. The bible is quite clear about the lessons of hate, and it doesn't mince words. The story of Jesus (albeit fictional in itself) tells of an extremely intolerant, hateful person...someone whose story has been cherry picked into a "loving" and "peaceful" person for today's christians. THAT Jesus does not exist in the bible.

  • wow, you believe in a fictional Jesus???? man, americans are such BLASPHEMERS!!!! Like that whole creationism/ID you will burn in hell from trying to prove the existence of God!!!!!

    Sinner!!!

  • According to the 2005 Eurobarometer Poll, 34% of Dutch citizens responded that "they believe there is a god", 37% answered that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force" and 27% that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, god, or life force". That's about 1/3 of the population who is clearly Atheist, and another 1/3 who are waffling on the issue. I don't know how you define "hugely," but that's not just a group of people who don't like churches.

  • MORE that 7 out of then believes in a higher power, and i garantee you that it mostly a christian figure. 4 in 5 don't go to church, except with Xmas they do.

  • And where are you getting these statistics that you're quoting? Pulling them out of your ass, I presume? I posted my stats with references. I guess we'll just leave it to the readers to decide who's telling the truth, and who's making shit up.

  • 34% + 37% = 71% = 7 in ten

  • correct quote:

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - -- Mahatma Gandhi

    I like my abbreviated version better .... ;) ;)

  • She's very cool. I met her today at the Young Women's Leadership Conference (Feminist Majority Foundation) today in DC. Her courage and intellect is inspiring.

  • I met her at a screening of the film at my school. She's an amazing woman!

  • you lucky so and so!!! i envy you ......... ;)

  • Did that preacher dude just praise intolerance?

  • oh yes he did! In fact, he is the most sacrileguous, anti-Christian preacher there is. Jesus was someone who fought the establishment, who was a rebel, but most importantly he was someone who said: "Hey you know what? Lets be NICE to one another for a change"

Jesus stuck up for the adultress for the lame for those of us who were unfortunate. This preacher is a blashphemous to his core.

  • Actually, if you'd bother to read the bible without your local preacher there to twist the words, you'd see how intolerent your religion really is. It instructs you to kill, kill, kill anyone who is gay, talks back to their parents, tries to convert you to another religion, works on the Sabbath (Saturday for Jews, Sunday for Christians...they can't even get THAT straight). And Jesus said to leave your family, told his mom to get lost, and killed a fig tree for not having fruit for him! Wow!

  • eeh .... ?

I am not saying anything against that.

I am saying Jesus was a rebel and he was MOST DEFINITELY PRO-TOLERANCE. in fact the most PRO-TOLERANT PROPHET there ever was.

  • hey, where can i watch this online?

  • Netflix has it in their "Watch Instantly" feature.

  • good for her

  • does anybody know the song at the end of the video?

  • "So Wide"

Written & Performed by Barbara Lynn Jacobs

  • my name is Shelby!

    lol

  • I love her parents.

and every time Ed Ainsworth comes into where I work, I cringe a little bit.

  • cringe a LOT. Or, better yet. could you cringe with your finger on the trigger and pointed towards his general direction? Thank you.

  • Shelby = my hero

  • she´s my hero too

  • mine three!

  • The only people teaching irresponsibility in this documentary are that preacher and the authorities supporting the censorship of information on birth control and safe sex practices. Knowledge about birth control does not imply in the least that teenagers will start having sex like mad.

  • Do you have any facts whatsoever to support those bogus claims? Condoms, when used correctly (which your abstinence-ed doesn't teach kids to do), bring the chance of pregnancy down 98 percent, and they reduce the chances of getting AIDS 85 percent. Meanwhile, kids who take those cute little abstinence pledges are just as likely to have sex before marriage as the ones that don't.

  • And the states that insist on abstinence-only ed, like Shelby's state and mine (Texas), have some of the highest teen pregnancy and STD rates in the country.

I will show you any sources you would like me to. Where are yours?

You want your kids to learn "morals?" Fine. You teach them morals, or send them to a private school that will. Me? I look at the facts. And I don't want a penny of my taxes going to publicly-funded abstinence ed programs that don't work.

  • i heard that one of the reasons why texas had such a high percentage of teenage pregnancy is because of all the polygomist living in the sect.

you know, like 12 year old girls being inpregnant by 57 year old men.

  • the funny thing is, these people scream bloody murder when teens have sex but when they marry of 15 year olds to REALLY OLD men, like 45 years old or older, They think thats completely normal and GOOD.

But ... this is state&church sponsored rape, community sanctioned pedophilia.

  • well said, in my opinion, with sex ed. at least people know all the facts, whereas those that are taught abstinence but still have sex just don't know how to take care of themselves

  • @aznman10149 Well said !!

  • yeah, totally agree. there are some loudmouthed extremist (DMV) out there who wants to teach irresponsibilty to young teenagers about how to drive a car.

if you don't want to die in a car or paid car insurance, don't drive. can't you believe these irresponsible extremist actually teach how to drive a car in drive eds instead of abstinince only drive ed.

they should be teaching the motto "don't want to die, don't drive" are kids are dying b/c of extremist teaching them how to drive in class.

  • Shelby rules!

  • I LOVE Shelby Knox. She is so smart and strong and stands up for the right things! She doesnt look away. Thank you so much Shelby!
