This song should have been HUUUUUGE. Its an instant KICK ASS classic! ITS WHY CORABI GOT THE GIG WITH MOTLEY CRUE! They wanted a guy who could sing, not...whatever you call what that piched off whiney shit Vince Neil does.
I love this song and that Cassette was awesome,John gave Motley Crue what they needed...more heavy riffs and attittude, with he would of stayed...oh well
about 2 years ago i became friends with Walt Woodward III he was from my area in N.J. i actually had the privilege of playing onstage with him in a local rockbar in my area doing an open jam, we always liked doing Sabbath numbers together with him and the rest of the band, he was an amazing drummer as well as an amazing person, R.I.P. Walt, you were a dear friend to me and you will be missed very much, Godspeed my brother..
No, even Cinderella w/ Night Songs was done after 4 yrs. The Scream never got off the ground. Corabi committed career suicide by joining Motley. The debut by The Scream was top notch and should have sold a million. LA Guns is not blues rock, they are LA sleaze at the best - Phil, Steven and the current lineup have it going. LA Guns still tour w/ the Phil / Steve version and its the best.
You can hear that John made a huge influence while being in the Crue. This song could have been on the 94' record and no one would have noticed. Event the slide guitars sound like Mick
all motley crue did was try yo go on have you ever played in a band its the greatest drug on earth perhaps john wanted a greater limelight who really knows i loved hooligansholiday i like your opinion try to cut them some slak vince neil is an asshole race car driver my ass be cool
None of the blues tinged rock bands around this era really hit the big time, did they? I'm thinking Badlands and Cry of Love for starters ... Any thoughts?
Not sure if guns and roses and LA gunz would fall into that catagory. But there were a few as I call from watchin them on MTV's Headbangers ball. Very few really went anywhere with it tho. There was one called Junk Yard, but I couldnt name you 1 tune from them. Other names arent coming to me right now.
Yeah! Kinda forgot about GnR but maybe you could say they cornered the market. It's a very fine distinction to make but I feel some bands had a sleazy kinda edge whereas others were more bluesy. Love Junkyard. Another great band was Rock City Angels who were bluesy and sleazy ... lol.
Junkyard's still around. Their album "sixes sevens and nines" is awesome. I think you can find all of the songs on youtube. Also Junkyard - Simple man. Very nice!
@believer06 The blues based bands of this era wee my favorites and I can tell you it made me feel like I was in on some secret music club... Princess Pang, Junkyard, Tora Tora and so many others were great bands that seemed just a little too gritty to get played on mainstream radio.
Badlands is dead on!!....Id have to say my personal "Blues Tinged" bands would be Tangiers....Blue Murder...Great White....Thunder....Cult...MSG...Whitesnake...Tesla....Killer Dwarfs...Kingdom Come...A few are a streth but they all had BLUESY stuff at one time or another....good to see ya askin though
I loved the Crue album with him - he got screwed by Crue management and Motley themselves. He deserves a better fate that playing with washed up 80's bands. This is good though.
Went to see Hank III in Denver recently, and maybe 'cause of the Southern-feel the Scream CD has, pulled out of the music archives this weekend.
In particular, this song f-in' rocks. Well-written, vocals are cool, guitar cuts hard, and is very full. If you even just listen to the bass, it carrys the song a ton.
Ah, the good ol' dirty rock bands of the early 90s.
I've always loved this song. Love how the acoustic guitar can still be heard even after the song starts rockin. Love how it still gives me goose bumps even after all these years. (BTW, I'm 47). After a bitch broke my heart, I used to drive out into the country, lay on the hood of the car, stare at the moon and blast this song till my ears rang. J.C. should never have left this band for M.C. The Scream had the potential to be even bigger if they and he had just stuck with it. We all got cheated.
I have been looking for this for ever...I used to have the video taped on a vhs when I was in high school! Can't even download it on limewire!!! Suggestions? This dude should have been in the movie "Rockstar"!!!!
This was one of my favorite CDs. I lent it to a friend, and he moved. Now I can't find a copy anywhere. The rest of it is just as good, and varied to fit lots of tastes.
Crab is/was the best thing that ever happened to Motley, and "Mr. Ferrano" should have toughed it out. When Vince came back, they became a nostalgia band. You (or should I say "I") can tell that Tommy still hates Vince, and is just cashing checks. It's sad...i'll always thought they'd be the next Aerosmith. Now my money is on Hinder.
Whoever reads this, Cheers...you have great taste in music. Late.
Killer video Geitzy. The Motley Crue, Motley Crue album is one of my favorites. What a waste to be under utilized with Ratt. What type of work are you doing now?
i was lucky enogh to see them live in san fran in '92.... was disappointed they broke up think they could of had a solid career but have to agree that JOhn has such solid vocals
Had the pleasure of hangin' with Corabi in California some years ago and yes, he's an amazing vocalist and person. The Scream rocked, but let's lay off Motley a bit huh?!
This had to be one of the most under-played, and under appreciated songs in rock history ever. This is still one of my all time favorite songs, and I've just about heard them all. This is like Led Zep on steroids. Too bad the rest of the album wasn't of the same caliber. I think these guys would have had a great career if it was.
One of the greatest songs of the "big hair" era. The crue should have kept John because that was their best album.but got no airplay cause of no Vince. Crue has sucked ever since."My Attitude" was another great song from The Scream.
This is one of my favorite videos from back in the day. I don't remember seeing the video for it though. No disrepect to Motley Crue, I dig them to, but I never could understand why John Corabi would give up this gig to be in the Crue. I mean they had a killer sound that would only had gotten better. Anyway, thanks for posting.
This is one of my favorite songs from back in the day. I don't ever rembember seeing this video though and I was an MTV junkie. Must have slipped through the cracks on me. Anyway, no disrespect to Motley Crue, but I could never believe that John Corabi gave up this gig to be in the Crue. I mean they had a killer sound and he just threw it away. Go figure. Anyway, thanks for posting!!!!!
I got this cd autographed by John Corabi when he was touring with the Crue. This cd freakin' rocks \m/ and Corabi's project Union was a great effort which went by not noticed. I wish they would have made a video of "Outlaw" which is an awesome opening track on their cd.
the on-stage part of this video was shot in a cost-efficient studio with a high ceiling for the crane. playback didn't work for most of the day. couldn't do most of the crane trick shots and ended up with just two. had to throw out the whole concept and settle for this. don't remember much else. i gave up making them after this.
I am positive it was shot at Hammerjacks. In fact, I even know the name of the cameraman from Hollywood Pictures. His name was Zack. I have pictures from that evening. Zack was sitting behind the camera attached to the giant crane, going over the crowd. It worked fine at Hammers. Ask Zack.
rachel, i shot it. i directed it. i edited it. ...a long time ago, but it was in l.a. hope you had a better time than i had. and it was hollywood records which was why the poor bastards never went anywhere with this song.
Well, I talked with some friends of mine and they all confirmed that Man in the Moon was the song being videotaped at Hammerjacks. Maybe the stuff they shot that night was never used. I don't know. But I do know this. If you're a cameraman, director and editor, how come you don't have any videos that you made on your page, other than the ones in Spanish???? A guy named ZACK shot the video at Hammerjacks. Is your name ZACK? Are you even from the United States?
i'm the director listed at the front of the clip, what else do you want? you could have asked any questtion about the video, but you insist on investigating. there's no audience in this video and they're not playing live. that's fairly obvious, no? i've been living in europe for the last 8 years.
Of course they're not playing live. They're "air" playing to the recording of the song. We had to listen to it over and over while they were filming the video. I don't want to argue with you. The only conclusion I can come to is that Hollywood Records messed up and had to re-shoot this video. You seem to have a problem with Hollywood Records...why do you feel they screwed the band? Did you work for them? Did they screw you over too?
i'm sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about. about the band, this video or hollywood records. this video which was never reshot in some club or re-edited by anyone. whatever you saw isn't in this video. i never said h'wood records screwed the band. h'wood records had a hard time with the disney stamp entering the music biz and bands like the scream and WWIII, i did a mediocre video for them too) couldn't get much air on radio and MTV. But the company was okay with me.
WWIII. I know them VERY WELL. I was on a TV show called Rocklive and interviewed them. Vinnie Appice and Tracy G are friends of mine. Which vid did you do for them? You don't seem to have much self-confidence. You put down the Scream vid by saying you had to "settle for this" and you say you did a "mediocre" vid for WWIII. Is that why you're no longer in the biz? Visit my page and email me. I'll send you lots of photos. Then you can tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. K?
And another thing...If this video was shot in 1991 and you are 37 years old, you would have been 20 years old at the time you claim you directed, shot and edited this video. Give me a break.
yup shot in the oldest studios in la i think charlie chaplan used it or owned it back in the day. a very long video shoot if i remember correct.... the video footage from baltimore was for the song "i believe in me"
long as hell. the playback was down for half the day and the d.p. couldn't figure out the indoor crane. you guys were great though. i liked the anamorphic lens.
Thank you am6634 for giving me the correct name of the video I attended at Hammerjacks in 1991. All of these years I thought it was Man in the Moon and Mr. Geitzy couldn't even suggest that it may have been another video. Geitzy, I guess I have to admit I was wrrr wrrr wrrr about Man in the Moon, but I knew I wasn't losing my mind about being at a Scream video shoot. And you were right about the quality of that shoot, too. Not too good. It's a shame. I still love the music though.
Great song, great band - does anyone have any bootleg videos of them doing this song back before they were signed? Bruce used to play a mean shred solo instead of the slide stuff on this song back then.
Great song! But the stuff they did after Corabi left was just landfill! Why join Motley Crue??!! This band were/are more talented and Corabi's voice just didn't suit any thing Crue have done or were going to do. Shame, but I guess some things aren't meant to be.
Have you heard the Motley Crue album. Were not talking about Dr. Feelgood, or Shout at the Devil. John Corabi's voice is awesome and fits those songs because they wrote them with him.

And another thing...If this video was shot in 1991 and you are 37 years old, you would have been 20 years old at the time you claim you directed, shot and edited this video. Give me a break.

Underrated band. John's always been a great singer/songwriter. Though the Crue album was a little disapponting. Cept for Hooligan Holiday. That roxx!
