i preferred the original cave story quote and curly sprites. it made them stand out that much more against their environment as white robots, the new sprite just seems to ruin his overall appeal to me.

The DSi has no Curly mode.

The Wii has a horribly written mode called Curly mode.

The PC version is the original and is free.

The Wiiware version's soundtrack is terrible by the way. It's almost disgusting how they would ruin such amazing music. I don't like the new look either. I preferred the gritty 16-bit style way more.

Why not? Each sprite and tile consists of an array of 16 pixels by 16 pixels. If you mean actually categorizing it by '16-bit' then yes, I agree with you. If I were to categorize it I would call it a sidescrolling metroidvania with a bit of RPG on the side.

The original hints that Quote and Curly went up against the man who held the Demon Crown before the Doctor. From that, I assumed that they destroyed him, (but not Ballos) and he blasted them both to hell. Then, years and years later, a robot wakes up in a dark cave, all alone...

Tell me that's not potential for a prequel.

I'd have bought the wii version if it had been better than the original. I'd have bought it if it was the SAME quality as the original. But no, instead they screwed up all of the music, took out some of my favorite dialogue (like Huzzah!) and just generally didn't polish it properly before releasing it.

@SuperMarioMoonshine The music is optional. You can change it in the options menu. Those favorite lines of yours were written by a random guy who knew Japanese. As always with remakes, they went back to the original japanese script. i doubt they even looked at AeonGenesis's work. If there's one thing I don't like about the remake, it's that the sfx are pitched higher.

I actually bought this game on wii, even though i played it already on the Pc (Free). Why? because this game is epic. not only did i attempt to getting the better ending, but im enjoying the time trials, boss challenges and Curly's story mode just as much. Definitly a must get off the Wii - Ware section

Played the game a long time ago when it first came about and now seeing it as a game for the Wiiware I will be purchasing this game. Mostly to support the guy who spent 5 years making this wonderful Gem of a game.
