  • the actual interviews at 1:10 for anyone who just wants that with out the bullshit

  • Jello, thank you for allowing my dad, in 1985 to ask me the important question,"Is this a fucking joke?"

  • he knows who wesley willis is. he is the lead singer for the make up. he used to be in nation of Ulysses . he knows music.

  • he likes saying pantheon a lot.

  • biafra, not biafram

  • ( lol ) Jello's so queer. Verbose, intelligent, and, unlike John Lydon, fascinating without being an asshole.

  • totally

  • is jello gay?

  • @SadMarker no

  • @SadMarker

Nope. Do believe he is, or was at least, married.

  • I went to San Fran with my mom for a wedding.

The WHOLE time I was on full alert for Jello lol.

I never made it to Gilman but I shall return lol.

Smart individual Jello Biafra (Eric Bourcher) is

  • "'Frisco is a beautiful city that has been perversely built on a series of treacherous cliffs as part of a surrealist parlour game by Spanish colonialists."

  • @negatyve I fucking love Ian. So damn funny.

  • @negatyve Good quote, I like the intro.. Amusing and eloquent at the same time, a style that few succeed in doing.

  • I love Jello!!! I wish the media and greed didnt lead to the break up of DK, but Mr. Biafra still gets major points for keepin it real throughout it all. I never wanted a job with a suit n tie my entire fuckin life, but id take this interiewers job in a second...and id do it for free! "Suck a mountain goats ass with cool whip!"

    ( RIP WesleyWillis...keep whoopin Batmans's Ass in the afterlife,#Headbutts#)

  • "Biafra"

  • What year is this from?

  • Jello is dying here. Not funny, or making any real point, for that matter. Just likes to hear himself talk.

  • "log hairs" what year is this 1963?

  • Jello's awesome. Pranksterism of that kind--and all kinds, really--is just...awesome.

  • he talks like he sings

  • Jello is such a character<3

  • He's so fucking nuts :D

  • Jello sounds like he should do voices for South Park or Family Guy :)

  • Suck a mountain goats ass with cool whip! LOL

  • the host has no fucking clue who wesley willis is. and he is half the man for it.

  • @bigmikeystyle the host is the front man of nation of ulysses and i'm sure all of the people he gets on the show are big fans of his band. i doubt he doesn't know who wesley willis is, also.

  • he always mentions dieties and panthons, Ian Svenonius is obviously high haha

  • What the fuck people who cares if the mans gay. So is Rollins. Does that make these people any less intelligent. This man was trying to get us to WAKE UP 20 years before it became a trend.

  • @duanedante rollins is gay?

  • @Johnnyo743 no dude, there's rumors, but he's not...

  • @duanedante wtf!! are you telling me that Henry Rollins and Jello Biafro and gay!!!???

  • I like your website thingy

  • What the hell is it with Jello and Wesley Willis?

  • Jello thinks he epitomizes "punk". Which he does, really.

  • Listen how Jello diverts any punk talk by referring back to car yelling at 4:16 ..

  • Reminds of how Geroge Bluth went through his cowboy phase in Arrested Development, except more camp.

  • wheres part 2? ^^

  • Ian is a legend. Nation of Ulysses, can I get an AMEN.

  • @MorbidHybrid -fucking-men!

  • That reminds me, I once rode in a car with Jello, in the streets of Sydney, having a great time while he pulled faces at people in other cars.

  • 'While most other participants in what gets labeled punk these days are willing to touch their ass to their forehead in order to please corporate sponsors'.

Well said! I wonder why Mr. Rotten's name comes to mind when I read the above words.

  • I agree. Maybe you should research him. It's tounge and cheek. It's meant to be a bit funny and odd....

  • I never realised Jello was a turd burgler, that man is as camp as a row of tents. His spoken word albums were cool but zozo is right, the boots are pure faggotry

  • jello is so crazy....

    i love him

  • Homo...sapian? Homo...erectus? Homo...geneous?

  • jello is a legend, but whats whit this faggoty boots?

  • What is Biafra on and where can I get some?

  • biafra used to be an african country

  • I know what the Country Biafra was. I meant This guy who's hopped up on goofballs.

  • You've never heard of the Dead Kennedy's?

  • I know who "The Dead Kennedys" were. I remember when they had to break up because of the PMRC witchhunt in 1985-86. I never forgave Al Gore for that even though it was Tipper he still had some involvement. I used "Jello Biafra" in the Youtube search engine because some Jackass named a video "Jello Biafra 1959-2009" which ended up being a rick roll. I thought he had really died.

  • I always wonder, what happens to Jello Biafra when he is alone, with noone to talk to?

  • @godsizedhole he thinks of questions he would be asked then reads on them and know everything to say about the subject

  • Ian Svenonius is so fucking insane. I love it.

  • The interviewer is a douche, but at least he looks a lot like Lou Reed so I don't mind watching his face.

  • How is Svenonius a douche? I think he's a great interviewer. Very stimulating with his questions, gets truthful answers out of people.

  • He doesn't seem very "into" what he's doing. He just sort of lounges about and says whatever comes into his head.

I understand how I wouldn't have the common opinion, though. He's one of those people whom everyone thinks is intelligent, but really coasts along with a minimum of thought without much passion or energy.

Given, these are only my initial impressions.

  • @arriterre to get a relative sort of opinion, why not check out one or many of his great and innovative bands . . . Ian's got a great sense of historic responsibility and personal responsibility doin this gig, he does great.

  • Yeah, perhaps that's where we clash. I don't believe in historical responsibility. But I do love innovative bands, so I'll check those out.

  • Just because he has a truthful, unorthodox demeanor?

  • How is it unorthodox? What's orthodox for that kind of person?

  • His demeanor is unorthodox for an interviewer.

  • Relaxed and intelligent doesn't seem unorthadox for an interviewer.

I would say that his seemingly "I'm having a conversation and just saying what comes into my mind" kind of thing is unorthadox. I appreciate that approach, but it also doesn't come off like a natural conversation despite it, to me. Perhaps it's his natural reserve of manner. In real life if people are like that it doesn't feel like a natural conversation either, even if it is to them.

Sorry! - I like examining these things.

  • He is a strange dude.

  • @arriterre

You don't even know who he is.

  • @stellyd

Nope, I don't, and perhaps I would have a different opinion if I did. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

  • The boots 'aint happening, Jello.

  • I loved the DK's, and Jello is a likeable dude, except when he's being a douche...

But he and this interviewer here are so clueless, that this comes a cross as a trainwreck; as innocuous and vapid as the Oprah show.

Jello's a bright guy, and can tell a story... But Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables and the Frankenchrist trial are his real legacy... He never really seemed to say much in interviews.

  • Yes, you hit the nail on the head. This had the potential to be an interesting interview but it wasn't, someone screwed up.

  • w8 i dont think jello is gay is he? hes been married a few times i thought ? >.> . im not saying its bad to be gay but i dident think he was.. idk hes secretive about that lol

  • Can I just say one thing?.... boots

  • I know, my mom owns a pair exactly the same. They are lady boots!

  • speaking seriously: is JB gay?

  • Nope.

  • @tolexor: He's not gay. I was at his show on November 7th in SF and he had his arm around a woman who was obviously his wife.

  • Jello reminds me of my annoying friend.

  • It's really ironic Jello mentions the old soviet regime and their muzzling of music in public......Mark Lloyd the diversity "CZAR" (hint hint) is pretty much fixng to attempt to muzzle the airwaves with so called "diversity"

all while he praises hugo chavez

  • The guy who does this reminds me so much of some kind of sketch comic that is being overly dramatic.

  • wow, who gives a shit if jello is gay or not? it no ones fucking business really.

  • yeah thats it johnbourbon ,its what he looks like that matters, not what he says !!!!! dope!

  • Jello must be in his Genghis Khan period, no doubt...

  • 3:48 lol

  • Jello is the ambassador of anti-fashion. I'm digging those boots ;)

Look out for his new album coming out in October!

  • I don't think the suits were as angry as Jello thinks they were.

  • he isn't gay, just has a lisp and has really always had it.

  • I actually LIKE Ian Svenonius, but many of his Soft Focus interviews are pointless and rambling. It's as if he actually GOES OUT OF HIS WAY to be ill-prepared (if at all) and waste the opportunity he has for intelligent conversation with some of these people. It's almost insulting. A star struck teenager working for the school newspaper could probably do a better job. But as I say, I do like Ian...if only because he's one of the few people on Earth with worse dentition than mine.

  • cake

  • Jello is the shit, interviewer sucks!

  • ian's the man, end of story. His questions give you a real insight into the musicians creative psyche. I'm not a fan of biafra in fact i think he's a clown, but i've watched every soft focus episode and look forward to the rest of series 3, cheers ian and vice

  • I agree, I don't like this host at all. He seems to not really care what the interviewees are saying, and is just more interested in making his own points known, then sort of brushes off their replies if they don't fit what he was looking for.

  • that is what i was thinking

  • He's probably personal friends with Jello.. They were both in punk bands around the same time.

  • @seventhskate The interviewer is Ian Svenonius, punk rock pioneer and a master of subtle irony, and you are a dope.

  • the dead kennedy's drove me freaking nuts, his voice grated on me! it STILL grates on me! but i admire what he did and what he stands for, so i can let that slide.

  • this host drives me insane, who would ever hired a tv personality with a fucking lisp

  • LOL, That's the lead singer of the Dead Kennedy's you idiots.

  • The interviewer Ian Svenonius is a musician in his own right. He sang in legendary bands Nation of Ulysses, Make*Up and Weird War. Look out for their back catalogues on Dischord Records. I kind of like his laid back style.

  • You spelled his last name wrong.

  • it's jello biafra
