Hey I'm a young artist, and I really would like everybody to check out my original ballad on my channel entitled "Why Can't I Live in Your Heart." It's a quiet storm ballad that sounds sounds like a cross between Boyz II Men's "End of the Road," Mariah Carey's "Can't Let Go," and Vanessa Williams' "Save the Best for Last."
Absolute genius from both Ike & Tina and Spector's production enhances this song in such a way that it elevates it to another level. One of the GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!
@BlaqueReign25 There are many different free softwares you can download that will allow you to convert audio from youtube into mp3. I use dvd videosoft, and I love it. Just google that software or any "youtube to mp3 converter"
this song touches ones soul. It is the most beautiful song (from a female artist) I have every heard. The only one who does it so perfectly is Tina. Yes Celine has tried and many others have as well but only Tina can do it the way it was meant to be done. God bless.
Tina is still fierce. whoop ikes ass if he fucked wit her now! cant even watch that movie without crying, and not normal crying the kind that makes you feel helpless and angry....i was worried when he came in with that gun and that girl kept walkin on. Big love for Tina! Id love to see her again someday.
Lots of singers try but after listening to their version and then immediately play Tina's it is blindingly obvious she is just in a different class. Not to discredit those who try the cover, Tina is the one and only. Comparisons with Celine is doing Celine a huge favour. This song is Tina's and she will always be the best at performing it.
Such an original! Such a raw and powerful sound. It's interesting that she cultivated a "rock" sound more so than an R&B sound. It's not a "beautiful" voice; it's a memorable voice.
oh tina. simply great. sometimes when you hear great pop songs of today you forget that singers are only great if there is uniqueness, soul and a perfect voice. tina you are perfect. i get chills.
I knew Pia was going home when she did this song. First off this isn't the type of song you really cover, hello Tina Tuner Classic. Secondly, Glee just did this last season and killed it. So she had 2 live up to the classic version that is Tina Turner and/or The Glee version . She accomplished neither.
@CoolerKing37 i didn't ask for your smart ass reply. i stated my opinion so mind your fucking business. Like I said I love it mostly because he didn't write it. She was actually able to break free and do her own thing for a quick second. I don't give a fuck about theguy who wrote it. I just love that she proved ike wrong and was able to sing a hit song without his help. end of discussion
@caramel4424 Strange....Lana Clarkson has the complete opposite feeling towards this song....And if you didn't want a reply towards your opinion, then don't post a comment on a forum that has open discussions. You daft cunt.
@CoolerKing37 Talk about respect...Geez, was he a murderer then? No. Let's not talk about his unfortunate later years, but rather his masterclass. He is a genius; the greatest producer and influential master of the greatest era of music...
@manutd689908 I'm not saying he isn't a great producer. However, your "he wasn't a murderer then" argument is completely retarded. I'm sure O.J. was a nice guy too back when he still played for Buffalo....
In "whats love gotta do with it" did you see the symphony this guy orchestrated for this song? Geez! Her voice, thankfully, is powerful enough to harmonize with all those instruments. I cant think of a modern day singer that has such a strong voice.
just came across this full song (sad i know) id always known its name and heard bits and pieces, but man is this incredible. that sound, the voice, all of it. truly a classic.
pia toscano is gonna annihilate this song next week... she's gonna take to a level like celine dion and just knock it out of the park its the perfect pace and vocal range for her
@heidy4271 idk i think she was amazing but i guess im a little biased... tina's a legend but im seeing the ridiculous star quality in pia... PIA is too good hahaha
@cool12328 -- agreed SUPER STAR quality in Pia...but I must say when I heard her singing it, it just made me want to go hear the original! Which I don't think that was her intent! You know when you do it, you gotta do it better than the original. You could feel the passion and soul in Tina's voice! Whoo! Ba-bay, ba-bay, ba-bayyyyy {singing in my not so Tina-like or Pia-like voice} lol ;-)
love the Phil Spector distant sound of POW ER..........also love Tina' s voice and present power of her being..one of my faves back in the day...............
@Illume2011 or parents who had 60's complilation tapes and always played them in the car when on the way home from visiting the grandparents ( at least thats how I heard this wonderful song ) .
@rach1660 What the versions by Celine Dion, Glee, and Beyonce lack is Phil Spector's strong Wall of Sound that made Tina Turner's version of this song sound so incredible.
glee is always taking a good song and messing it up !!!!!!!! you wouldnt even think that the song was that good if you heard them sing it !!!! this is so much better than glee's
Ya man I just listened to every version, and that Phil Spector sound is the best. The power of that music matches the Strength of the lyrics from Ms. Tina.
This song didn't chart? I guess politics was alive and well then. This should have been #1 for a long stint on everybody's top ten list. Tina rocks and always will.
@whowhohowie I read that the fact that this song wans't well recieved put him over the edge. The was meant to be his masterpiece and when it ddin't take the world by storm COO KOO. Anyway, they were wrong, it is a masterpiece.
I don't watch glee. im 18 and im aware of music from 60s,70s, and 80s because i actually have ears and i know when i hear crap (todays music) and great music (music of the past) there are a few good artists today but they dont get the recognition the most untalented get paid the big money and played on radio. and i also would like to thank my parents for getting me into older music, LOVE RYAN :D

@fierte Yes, because God forbid people go out on their own to find this kind of music and aren't just handed everything on a silver platter via Glee and Top 40 radio.
Give me a break. If I can get off my ass and go hunting this down, anyone else can. 'Nuff said.
@IslesGirl14 yes but how do you know what to hunt for? I love this song and I think the original is better than the Glee version. But i would not have known about such a song unless Glee had used it. Why is that such a crime? everyone is acting like those who came to this song by Glee does not deserve to enjoy it or something..
@fierte You watch movies, just like I did. I saw What's Love Got to Do With It and found out about all of Tina's music. Same with Ray Charles, and with the 70s rock from Lords of Dogtown. Or you could just go through YouTube- I've done it plenty of times.I'm not saying people who watch Glee don't deserve to listen to it or enjoy it, but don't act like this is the only way anyone can ever learn about music, because I have never seen an episode of Glee in my life and I don't intend to.
@IslesGirl14 eh? I never said that. I was annoyed because people were bashing Glee for even attempting the song when people like me who watch Glee are thankful to them for introducing those songs to us. You find these songs your way and I find them my way. There is no need to make it like one way is better than the other. I think you misunderstood my intentions and came to the wrong conclusion. I was only being supportive of Glee as one of the ways in which you come across songs like that...
girl i agree 100% glee is fag tv show tina turner is the best and the movie what s love got to do with it is the best angela bassett plays tina turner also micheal jackson mom katie jackson she is a hell of a acterest shes very good be good all ike turner fans
You know, the only mainstrean cover of this I've ever enjoyed nearly as much as the original would be Annie Lennox' version... it's on the Walking On Broken Glass E.P.
Tina murderd this song how dare a group of white kids and one fat bitch even think they can have this kind of impact. It's insulting!!! Tina I love you. Glee is a fukin joke lol. To the point that people argue over who sang it better wow insane. Tina put her heart and soul into this song and was even one of the first black artists to cross over like this it is a simply beautiful song do your research dummies one of the best singles ever period! Fuk Glee!!
Glee did a respectable cover of this song. You have to be completely ignorant to think otherwise. Annoying to hear all of these "Oh Glee is a bunch of kids running around, and it's popular so I automatically hate everything about it because I'm cool and original songs are the only thing that matter even though I probably wasn't even alive when this song was ACTUALLY good". Instead of being ignorant to music, try listening to it without being influenced.
@ sebaiturria: No. Nobody needs to thank Ryan Murphy. It's cool to love Glee but these artists are epic. If you really love music you'll find this song. Kids who love Glee but who don't get musical history aren't going to buy a Tina Turner CD because of Glee. They'll buy the GLEE CD. Ryan is banking on it . GLEE is awesome but don't insult Tina.
@xwaystranger I did not mean "perfectly", only "Beautifully" :~) But you are right, artistic/creative collaborations are always a hit when we combine the 2. I think this particular song is proof of that...but you know it was a huge hit in Britain, but not so much in the United States...I think it ended up at #67 on the charts here...which makes me wonder if it was not ahead of it's time.
ikes version is better

@IslesGirl14 yes but how do you know what to hunt for? I love this song and I think the original is better than the Glee version. But i would not have known about such a song unless Glee had used it. Why is that such a crime? everyone is acting like those who came to this song by Glee does not deserve to enjoy it or something..
fierte 11 months ago
@fierte You watch movies, just like I did. I saw What's Love Got to Do With It and found out about all of Tina's music. Same with Ray Charles, and with the 70s rock from Lords of Dogtown. Or you could just go through YouTube- I've done it plenty of times.I'm not saying people who watch Glee don't deserve to listen to it or enjoy it, but don't act like this is the only way anyone can ever learn about music, because I have never seen an episode of Glee in my life and I don't intend to.
IslesGirl14 11 months ago
@IslesGirl14 eh? I never said that. I was annoyed because people were bashing Glee for even attempting the song when people like me who watch Glee are thankful to them for introducing those songs to us. You find these songs your way and I find them my way. There is no need to make it like one way is better than the other. I think you misunderstood my intentions and came to the wrong conclusion. I was only being supportive of Glee as one of the ways in which you come across songs like that...

I saw and liked Glee's take on this song, got a kick out of the dancing a la Tina. As for I'm All That And More Celine Dion.....ick, ugh, cringe.

What happens when White (Phil Spector) and Black (Tina Turner) come Together!
xwaystranger 1 year ago
@xwaystranger Absolutely! Beautiful things happen when black & white can work together!! In music as well as life :~)

@whatanightmare1 Unfortunately, I haven't seen it work "perfectly" in any field but ART. But then again, ART is the Highest of Human Achievements.
xwaystranger 1 year ago
@xwaystranger I did not mean "perfectly", only "Beautifully" :~) But you are right, artistic/creative collaborations are always a hit when we combine the 2. I think this particular song is proof of that...but you know it was a huge hit in Britain, but not so much in the United States...I think it ended up at #67 on the charts here...which makes me wonder if it was not ahead of it's time.
