I used to travel through Marysville on the way to Lake Mountain & I have also been through a lot of the other communities which were devastated by these fires, I would like to wish all the communities the best of luck for the future & I speak for all those Victorians & Australians who will never forget the horror & sadness you have had to endure HUGS TO YOU ALL & GOD BLESS.
Marysville has now begun to bounce back from this horrific event. Just yesterday I took my 2 young sons for lunch at the Bakery, one of the few buildings left standing. It is wonderful to see the tourist coming back and supporting this very important town. Marysville WILL be back!!
Look at the nature of this fire. It appears that the fire front didn't hit the town but fireballs erupted into a storm. Buildings were uniformly destroyed but nearby street signs are untouched as well as grass on the verges. It must have been hell for people trying to shelter in those buildings.
My darling brother Pastor Con Halyburton and his wife fled when he seen the fire in his back yard! we praise the Lord they and others are alive today,
Let the Marysville residents go home and grieve properly. How dare they keep you out! Kinglake residents who can go home are home and so are some Flowerdalians. There are bodies there too. Why is Marysville any different? I hope you can all go home soon and draw strength from each other and find the will to move on.
I was stationed at Healesville in the Army during Ash Wednesday and thought that was bad. I used to visit Marysville and go skiiing at Lake Mountain. When I went back on holidays and took my family from WA we stayed there and I will always remember how beautiful and friendly it was. My love and prayers go to all those who have suffered in the absolute tragedy. Our thoughts, and Australias thoughts are with you.
Felt kind of weird, I was just on Google Earth Street view of this place...I can see why it had the most casualties, theres nothing but trees within the town and a sea of forests around the entire town with like 3 thin roads that led out of this town. It looked like such a beautiful place to reside. Such a horrible and tragic event.
So sad to see the destruction of a beautiful village. I live in the UK and visited Maryville two years ago with two Austraila friends. Lets hope you can rebuild your great village so that it can continue to provide a respite from the toils of the city
Just so tragic.... The bus ride 2 see the town was the worst ride of my life..... It will never ever be the same again....... R.I.P 2 all that lost their lives.......
You poor buggers. The rest of Australia grieve for you, mate. Hang in there! While we are too scared to even imagine what your going through, we're all 100% behind you, and we'll do whatever we can to make your return home as supported and acknowledged as we all can. It's all were all talking and thinking of.
just so terrible i live in nz i just visited australia in the holidays i was in Marysville it seemed so peaceful how could something like this happen you guys are so brave
Thank you CFA for fighting those fires. I have family in Kingslake and Marysville I have not heard from since the fires. I myself live in the US and can not even imagine the grieve and desperation.
This is eerie, and just the most tragic thing. I looked at pre-fire Marysville online today, and saw the usual things you see: real estate ads, tourist bits & pieces...and now it's all gone. Not for lack of effort though...you guys are truly amazing. Thank you for your bravery and total commitment. The nation owes you a debt.
some serious planning and organising needs to happen so something like this never happens again

I can understand why many people will not move back.
Bush fires in Australia are so natural, its all part of the ecology of this vast continent.
And this summer has been fantastical, just look at the rains across the country.

My families art gallary is still standing.....
Not that we're allowed to go up there and get some of the art out before its looted
Fuck, seeing this on film isn't enough to convince me this is real.
Part of me still thinks that Marysville, the perfect town, is still standing.

Again, thank you CFA.
