  • We enjoyed the march. Thanks for posting! KCW ,CRM

  • I'm playing this piece for a concert this weekend, the mess up was a bit noticeable to someone who knows what to listen for, but other than that at least they didn't just drop out completely. They stuck with it and it sounded really nice.

Kudos out to the piccolo :)

  • lol my high school played this clovis high school

  • trio was awesome, the baritone played it like a boss. unless they had a bass trombone covering it.

  • I'm playing this this in my kindergarten band on plastic instruments. We sound okay, but it's nice to hear you guys do it!

  • That's what makes a live performance. If you want perfection go buy a CD. You don't know how many times they recorded it before they spliced together the final product.

  • @coolpaulc: ajhs?

  • My 7th grade band is doing this lol

  • we just did this song in our 8th grade concert last night

  • I'm playing the piccolo solo on the flute tomorrow night - even a simplified version of it is scary. Wish me luck. I'm scaaarreeeddd.

  • I'm the one playing the chimes in my high school band

  • were playing this song in our school band n im in sixth grade but it cool hearin it from really good people

  • Would have been better if the chimes were louder :( their part in this song is great

  • haha the piccolo sounds like a bird :)

  • piccolo definetly messed up...but we all mess up, no ones perfect

  • ok....dont have to make a big deal about it. I just didnt hear anything. u probably did. there we go. all settled

  • @mrcool1901 Dude, I heard it 2 ! Goodness Lord...

  • The piccolo messed up at 2:34 -_- oh well. you still did good.

  • no he didnt it was perfect!!

  • uh dude. i played this solo many times enough to know what happened in the song. don't tell me what i don't know because i probably know more than you do ok. just shhh and go away. he messed up but he still did good. you don't have to go around saying stuff like that making it seem like everything was ok. what if someone who is just learning the piece comes to it so they can learn. you want then to think the wrong is right? i think not.

  • And the best part about this band; none of us are majoring in music :)

  • I was a piccolo player with the AAMB 1982-87 and in concert band (1 year in symph band) - I would have loved to have played this but never did. You all did an amazing job, and way to go picc soloist!!!

  • Super talent with all students and great job on the piccolo solo! Hail Purdue

  • Wow you guys kicked the crap out of this!!!! Even though you did a great job, I hate this piece and marches in general. I play F Horn so that probably has something to do with it always playing off beats. We are playing it in our high school band along with Choral and Shaker dance and Courtly Airs and Dances. Tuff Stuff

  • piccolo is amazing!

  • i get to play this at all-state. can't wait!.

  • I am going to be playing this at all-state too! This video really helps to know what the entire piece sounds like.

  • yeah no kidding. now i know what tempo i might go and how to play my part

  • Good times watching Joey play last year, haha

Me and Cody fell asleep during the 18 min long song XD

  • I played the chimes in my high school's winter concert before the winter holidays.

  • the piccolo solo was awesome~

  • i remember playing this back in 8th grade. our piccolo soloist totally nailed it. she was like a flute prodigy in our area.

  • She almost had the solo... Thats too bad.

  • I just played this it graduation

  • i played this my 7th grade year. i played the flute part :] pretty amazing cuz we played

dancing at stonehenge, heavens light, and the chimes of liberty and made 1s across the board

    we are greaat;]

  • Dancing at Stonehenge is my FAVORITE. The clarinet solo is sooo freaking awesome.

I'm playing the piccolo solo for chimes of liberty at festival in a few weeks. talk about intimidating. =/

  • We played this this song at our Central Ozarks Conference Band this year. COC is an Honor band for high school students. I actually played flute at COC but I normally play PICCOLO. I Completely Disagree. The Picc part was AMAZING! She did awesome and I appreciate anyone that can play like that...

  • My school band at Edgemont high is playing this song. Im playing the trombone part

  • were playing this song for the missouri state finals

  • my band did this song at the EVHS band festival

  • that was an awesome piccalo solo, thankyou very much.

and i think the director cut the trills. except for the one.

so yeah, it's not her fault, and she did VERY WELL.

  • AMIS...... played this song.....

  • I'm playing this song in band!!!

  • Hmm...Interesting. In the director's score, it suggests taking it a couple beats below 120, but it appears purdue has decided to go against the composer's wishes and put it above 120..Im assuming..its about 125...Which, is alright. Its the director's interpretation, but...It doesnt sound right. A march does NOT have to be fast to be exciting. In fact, the fact that its a little fast, actually makes things a little sloppy sounding. And, they ended at a faster pace than when they started.

  • It also makes the trumpet's fanfare sound muddy. It definitely made that sound muddy. Also, I agree with buckeyeba in that the piccolo solo was not played well. The trills were..non existant..But, she could have played much better had they been going at 118 instead of 125. So, I will not blame that on the piccoloist. Also, march style was not well implicated. Especially toward the end. There is supposed to be space between notes, and I hear an almost legato sound instead of staccato.

  • She messed up a bit, but she isn't pathetic. Why don't you post of video of your playing, and We will pick that apart. :)

    Andrew Short

  • why no rip on michigan's band and leave the "constructive criticism" to the hoosiers?
