I think of freerunning as of How fast you can do this or else get done in the certian amout of time while having fun, Free running or else Parkour isnt always about "Who can do the coolest move" or "how many flips you can do" Aslong as you have fun out there. There is no reason to compete. Unless Necessarily for joy and the excitement you will be having.
Freerunning is running in your environment urbanly, it doesn't have to be fast, it can be whatever you like, parkour has no tricks, its just getting from A to B as fast as possible

Wrong. Freerunning includes aesthetics but in no means is it healthy to be competetive. It's just like virtuosos wanking off against eachother in a guitar battle. People should shred on guitar because it's FUN, not because you think you're faster than me at it.

We Laughed profusely bc... there is no best in parkour or freerunning... they are both disciplines with no sense of competition. They are philosophies, art, ways of life. Be it free-running or Parkour. They are both URBAN sports. Bringing them to a Confined Stage is already a Fail. Yet, having judges who probably doesn't know or appreciate the tiniest element of free-running or Parkour is the biggest Fail.

Think of it like guitarists. For one person, it's an intensely personal experience. It's how they express themselves, how they view and cope with life, but all internally. They're not going to compete, they don't feel the drive or the need. For someone else, it could be just as personal, but they're external folks. For them, they have to test themselves against the best they can find. Without goals they're lost.
One of those is Belle, and it ain't the second option. :P

I do freerunning because it's a great party trick and it's fun to show people that even at the age of 18 and doing gymnastics for 7months, you can make dreams reality. Gylphmedia and 3run inspired me to do this and i love it and i keep doing it.
If you train conditioning and muscle aswell as train XMA (tricking wich basicly is what u use in Parkout/freerunning) and then on ur free time do parkour u will become amazing
They should also have a speedrun course where it's all about how fast you can get through it - no points for style. Have two identical side by side courses full of obstacles and drops and let em race!
wouldnt it be better make freerunning nationals outside.because thats wahts also stands for freerunning doing it OUTSIDE not in some gym. And also how to compet fairly, as the sport is very individual so how make as much obstacles taht everyone can do his best stuff. you cant make a realistic competition. there must be room to be creativ. not bound on a few obstacles.

Obviously lol, but im saying, even the best Freerunner's need practice to perfect the flow of there trick's. So that they CAN go outside and be sure that they are going to know how to do something without getting injured. I agree though, but i rather choose Parkour, for outside.... It make's stuff more fun when your going through an obstical as fast as you can :P
Think about how many sports started off as nothing more than disciplines. Do you resent their induction into the sports category? And notice that it is the world "Free Running" not "Parkour" championship. Also, free running is a challenging art just as parkour is, only in a different way. Perhaps some people prefer to express themselves this way instead of that. Just because they decide to showcase their efforts doesn't make them bad either. Do you from upon olympic athletes?

His pure physical fitness allows him to jump a whole story and be able to bounce right back up. There's not many people strong enough to do that without causing harm to themselves.
Other than that, the only way to judge someone would be through their control and fluidity. He's got the control down. I can hardly see room for improvement. Fluidity is hard to judge, solely because the footage isn't there.

my point was that, while you and I understand that, the general public does not. Shouldn't something be done to educate them about the differences in the disciplines so they are not misled? The fact that UF advertises itself as a Freerunning AND Parkour site while also sponsoring competitions seems to be quite misleading to me. Don't say it isn't your responsibility to educate the public , since you as an organization are the first to claim authority on Parkour and Freerunning.

But these guys made this competition not to bug people but really in fact u can detaim a giving point for the trick they do. Like scare factor, skill and style (a back flip - double backflip).. A race with obstacles is just a race with obstacles. Parkour is kind of a technique or something like that. Parkour is all about speed and efficiency. Since I suck at English I'll trycompare it to fighting. You can fight using different methods. You can use kickboxing, karate, kung-fu, or any other martial arts. Parkour is like one of those if used in racing.

I do freerunning because it's a great party trick and it's fun to show people that even at the age of 18 and doing gymnastics for 7months, you can make dreams reality. Gylphmedia and 3run inspired me to do this and i love it and i keep doing it.

If you train conditioning and muscle aswell as train XMA (tricking wich basicly is what u use in Parkout/freerunning) and then on ur free time do parkour u will become amazing

They should also have a speedrun course where it's all about how fast you can get through it - no points for style. Have two identical side by side courses full of obstacles and drops and let em race!

wouldnt it be better make freerunning nationals outside.because thats wahts also stands for freerunning doing it OUTSIDE not in some gym. And also how to compet fairly, as the sport is very individual so how make as much obstacles taht everyone can do his best stuff. you cant make a realistic competition. there must be room to be creativ. not bound on a few obstacles.

yes but thats training for Freerunning. you maybe train in gym for Freerunning but than u do Freerunning outside.

Obviously lol, but im saying, even the best Freerunner's need practice to perfect the flow of there trick's. So that they CAN go outside and be sure that they are going to know how to do something without getting injured. I agree though, but i rather choose Parkour, for outside.... It make's stuff more fun when your going through an obstical as fast as you can :P

Think about how many sports started off as nothing more than disciplines. Do you resent their induction into the sports category? And notice that it is the world "Free Running" not "Parkour" championship. Also, free running is a challenging art just as parkour is, only in a different way. Perhaps some people prefer to express themselves this way instead of that. Just because they decide to showcase their efforts doesn't make them bad either. Do you from upon olympic athletes?

amazing display of skill but i dont understand how you can judge freerunning fairly, is it not just like judging acrobatics? in wich case why not do acrobatics? this is not me saying freerunning/parkour is shit i do it myself im just confused as to how it is judged fairly and wouldnt david belle just win anyway lol

I disagree, still no one would be able to match his consistency and precision, let alone his unbelievable general ability with Parkour.
Eventually, like all founders / masters, he will retire and pass on the baton but that's not going to be for a while yet.

Can you drop a few names please? I haven't seen anyone who I'd say "surpasses" Belle.
His pure physical fitness allows him to jump a whole story and be able to bounce right back up. There's not many people strong enough to do that without causing harm to themselves.
Other than that, the only way to judge someone would be through their control and fluidity. He's got the control down. I can hardly see room for improvement. Fluidity is hard to judge, solely because the footage isn't there.

my point was that, while you and I understand that, the general public does not. Shouldn't something be done to educate them about the differences in the disciplines so they are not misled? The fact that UF advertises itself as a Freerunning AND Parkour site while also sponsoring competitions seems to be quite misleading to me. Don't say it isn't your responsibility to educate the public , since you as an organization are the first to claim authority on Parkour and Freerunning.

i have a really strong opnion about this! :)
the thing is, this is a freeruning competition, that includes parkour coz freeruning is mixed up with alot of things. But these guys made this competition not to bug people but really in fact u can detaim a giving point for the trick they do. Like scare factor, skill and style (a back flip - double backflip).. How would u detaim is the most sikk trick? u can follows those linie i just wrote to ya and ull have an idea why this competition was made.

A race with obstacles is just a race with obstacles. Parkour is kind of a technique or something like that. Parkour is all about speed and efficiency. Since I suck at English I'll trycompare it to fighting. You can fight using different methods. You can use kickboxing, karate, kung-fu, or any other martial arts. Parkour is like one of those if used in racing.
