Genetically speaking there has been relatively little admixture amongst European Jews. MOST have similar ancient Levantine genetics. Phenotypic manifestations are just that, enviro influenced. The biggest difference between Mizrajhi and Ashkenazi is liturgical, NOT genetic.

Not all Ashkenazim have been in Europe for as long as others. Some Ashkenazim are actually Sephardim that married into Ashkenazi families. Besides I did not say ONLY enviro affects phenotypes, but it is one factor and can be quite strong. Look at the Chinese; usually tiny puny ppl but now that they are eating N. American style food and more protein, many are a lot larger. Yet they have not mixed AT ALL in most cases, with Caucasians.

If you look at archaeological studies and historical accounts, you might be surprised to see that the original Jews had a propensity for red hair. Red hair is not a typical trait of a dark skinned people.

Yes the people of Levant vary. This is true throughout middle east. The people in south are dark brown, people in southern Lavant are brown to light brown. I'm a Mizrahi Jew. Until 1990, 70% of Israeli Jews were Mizrahi Jews (Jews from Middle east and N Africa). Its logical that Mizrahi Jews have more right over Israel. In fact, almost half of the Russian "Jews" in Israel are not even considered as Jews according to halakha. Genetically or religiously, these Russians are not Semitic in any way.

Genetically speaking there has been relatively little admixture amongst European Jews. MOST have similar ancient Levantine genetics. Phenotypic manifestations are just that, enviro influenced. The biggest difference between Mizrajhi and Ashkenazi is liturgical, NOT genetic.

Not all Ashkenazim have been in Europe for as long as others. Some Ashkenazim are actually Sephardim that married into Ashkenazi families. Besides I did not say ONLY enviro affects phenotypes, but it is one factor and can be quite strong. Look at the Chinese; usually tiny puny ppl but now that they are eating N. American style food and more protein, many are a lot larger. Yet they have not mixed AT ALL in most cases, with Caucasians.

I have seen Jews with history of living in Europe for about 300 to 400 yrs are brown skin or semitic looking than other Jews who have been living in the same region for the same amount of time. Such difference in skin color and semitic looks between them can only be the result of mixed marriages with white.

Yes the people of Levant vary. This is true throughout middle east. The people in south are dark brown, people in southern Lavant are brown to light brown. People in northern middle east are fair skin. But they are all far from European white skin and features that you are talking about. @Lagolop The well known recorded evidence is after the destruction of second temple 2000 yrs ago. Even during this time, majority of Jews still lived in middle east and N Africa. The Jews population in N Europe was very small. There largest was in Spain with about 80,000 Jews. This all changed during the Golden era where many Jews migrated from N Africa and middle east to Spain. The ashkanazi culture, population prospered during the middle ages. The ashkanazi are the new comers.

Not true. First recorded evidence of Jews in Europe was dated 600 BC. In fact just recently a newly discovered mikvah was found in Mainz Germany (Rineland) dating 100 BC. We all know that the Rhineland was where the Ashkenazi tradition was born.
Ashkenazi r new comers? They r Jews like any other. Just as Jewish in every way. It does't matter that they "look" European. And on that note what do you think Greeks, Italians, Spaniards typically "look like". They ARE European.

No, it doesn't. There are lots of mikvahs in what we now call Germany and France predating Christ's birth. The one I refer to is older and that does not mean that was the first Jews. Only God knows when he very first Yids made their way to Europe.

That's what I said earlier (if you don't understand english) I said Jews have lived in ashkanaz around 2000 yrs ago (NOT 2500 yrs ago). But they were in SMALL numbers. If not for Mizrahi Jews, there never would have been so many soldiers drafted into the military to fight those arabs in so many wars. By the way, most of ashkanazi jews also came as refugees to Israel with little or not military experience and technology. Both Mizrahi and ashkanazi were seen as underdogs by arabs.

I hear its making a comeback amongst many young Jews in Israel. A good thing. Language is a huge part of heritage. Would not want to see Ashkenazi culture disappear would we.

I'm a Mizrahi Jew. Until 1990, 70% of Israeli Jews were Mizrahi Jews (Jews from Middle east and N Africa). Its logical that Mizrahi Jews have more right over Israel. In fact, almost half of the Russian "Jews" in Israel are not even considered as Jews according to halakha. Genetically or religiously, these Russians are not Semitic in any way.
