When you have a sufficiently high self-esteem, partially backed by your abilities, social skills and social acceptance, having people make jokes about you for an evening really isn't that much of an issue.

ESPECIALLY if you know they're not being serious.

And if you have a REALLY high self-esteem, then even sincere mockery won't take you down, because you'll just conclude that these people are idiots and make buffoons out of themselves.

Just because Shatner may have a huge ego doesn't mean everyone has.

I don't really think I'd have any problems with YOU roasting me in public, as you don't know anything about me that could make me even slightly uncomfortable - but at any rate, I didn't say *I* had such a secure self-esteem that I'd handle any ridicule or mockery, I'd say THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH SUCH QUALITIES, and IF you have such qualities, THEN you actually can take it.

The Roasts will NEVER have the popularity & ratings, if you are not in them.

Giraldo was the Main Comedian at these roasts.

Greg Giraldo & Heath Ledger died EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. They WERE NOT Addicts but their doctors & prescription pills KILLED THEM.

Giraldo was a lawyer and graduate of Harvard Law School & Columbia.

Giraldo accidentally took his pills and alcohol together. Last I heard, Giraldo took Xanax and Alcohol together and he went into a Deep Coma before his death (his family in the end decided to pull Life Support).

Xanax and alcohol together is enough to cause alcoholic hepatitis, peripheral neuropathy, cereballar degeneration, brain atropy, and stroke. So, never ever think of mixing xanax with alcohol to deal with depression. It will put you in a Coma which you won't wake from.

This Roast was the worst piece if TV I've had the misfortune to witness. Third rate bar comedians who can't get through a sentence without a profanity. Also the sad sight of Betty White going along with it all was depressing. Compare this hopeless lot to the real comedians in the days of Dean Martin's roasts is a reminder how we are devolving as a species.
