A thing that you've been missing is also that you can just swipe up from the bottom of the phone to do the same as the button on the pre does. It's much more convinient. And when you overclock the pre, you get it up to 1 gigahertz processing speed. And you can also do the swapping default apps like the iPhone on the pre, When you have notifications on the pre, the LED button blinks alerting you, but the iPhone doesn't. Oh and the Pre DOES have a camcorder. It's in the camera app

You can take pix during call AND use more than one internet application "card" at the same time. There IS a cam corder on the palm pre that you probably over looked....I have the phone and all of those features which you state are non-existant (except for the apps in the app store) are there to be used. Ths may not be the iphone killer, but it sure is the shit.

Now i say the new ipod touch is going to be nice and i will get that apple product because its going to come with a camera but i have already had my iphone days. The new ipod touch should be very nice for most people. I got one thing to say about people calling me out of my name. I say the palm pre is better because it has a better operating system and it has alot of basic features out on the first build. It took apple 3 tries and i have to say that is sad for a new commer to be on your heels. I will say the iphone has came along way and has opened innovation but it dont have new technology. The Samsung Omnia HD is the most technologically advanced phone out now so none of the phones are just eye candy to me. If palm makes a gsm version game over for Apple.

I'm an idiot. The only phones you know about are the ones you see in the US stores that are already old. I said OMINA HD not the regular one. It does everything an iphone does and what a regular phone does and more. It has one of the best camera and video recorders because it take HD photos and records HD videos with an 8 Megapixel camera with flash and autofocus. It was the first to have a touch AMOLED Display which is capacitive like the iphones touch technology. Google that before you reply!

I agree with most of what you said, but, I'm not sure which phone first used an AMOLED screen, but I'm pretty sure the Tocco Ultra predates the Omnia HD.

Everyone will continue to dislike the Pre because it is the closest thing to the iPhone and it is very close to being better. Time will tell. I think there are too many iPhone fanboys commenting on videos of the Pre. Both are really good phones and it will be interesting to see what happens in the near future

i think its pretty safe to say tht it will never get up to 50,000 apps for the pure fact tht there arent anywhere near as many developers for the pre as there r for the iphone/ipod app store

also, there are 2 devices that the app store is for, being the iphone and ipod touch whereas the pre's app store if for only 1 device

so basically, the pre will most likely not catch up to the iphone where the App Store is concerned

50,000 huh wow. That's super crappy. Palm OS has 60,000+ apps available and to use them on the pre all you need is the "Classic" app. So iphone was decimated before it started lmao.

PLUS 50,000 is really much less considering 300 copies of "ifart", 100 copies of "mafia", 50 copies of "fandango" etc. So yeah....

im surprised no one talks about the cost of the plans for either. over a two year contract (as an average plan) you pay nearly $480 more with ATT than with sprint. If you are looking at the unlimited plans for both you will pay about $1200 more with ATT.

If I went with ATT id feel like I was getting mugged every time I payed my bill.

in 2:20 he does the browser test,he misses the link on the PRE but on the 3GS he hits the link right on.& of course the 3GS has cache so now the web page is stored in cache.but the pre still catches up & i would say loaded the page just as fast...bet the iphone fanboys saw that but didnt say anything.that was a sucker move.

I'm saying when developers start to take advantage of device the apps size will increase and trust me 8GB ain't enough. If you are like a regular user with one or so videos, some songs, some family photos, and add that up with app size that keep getting bigger and bigger it wont be enough. Trust me.

I agree and i tested the amount of apps you can put on an iphone. It is limited to 11 pages of apps including the ones that came with the phone. That is less than 2gb. I think apple might fix that sometime i hope or someone comes up with a fix. I say music and pics take up the rest and that is dependent on the user but they are marketing the phone as a smartphone and an ipod so the memory serves as the ipod part of it.

I would want the Pre since I use a (Cell) Phone mostly for messaging and as a regular boring phone. Plus I really like the smaller size of the Pre. The fact that both of them can browse the internet so well is a plus, but still has me leaning toward the Pre.

When he hit the button for the speed test on the iphone, the iphone added a cache to the browser. It could have made the iphone a lil faster in that test cuz it already had a cookie when he went back to do it agian. not bad though. Respect to both.

One thing I like about the pre is multi tasking. I chat and listen to music and bllomberg at the same time with 3G jailbreak backgrounder but it is not very userfriendly. Think 3GS will have better multitasking coming?

so I thing it'll do fine with IM apps in the background

but certain things like loading web sites in the background or youtube videos cant be done, the Pre has the Iphone beat in that area , Plus I like the web Browser on the Pre better than the iPhones IMO
