Doesn't matter if you recycle cans or not. Unless you litter they will all make it to a recycling center and aluminum can be used over and over again without degradation. The drink can you have right now has probably been 1000's of cans before it was that one.
I know it's just one small consolation, but here in Michigan the majority of people recycle aluminum cans because the deposit on the can is 10 cents. That adds up. So, even if people don't care about the environment, they most likely do care about their pocketbook. They should make it mandatory in all states to recycle or lose money. This could be applied to a lot of things!
5. For women: did you know that over 14 billion tampons, pads and applicators end up in landfills every year? They don't decompose, so they're a significant portion of landfill waste. Try a less wasteful alternative such as Lunapads, DivaCup (DivaCup is available at Amazon also), or the SeaPearl from PandoraPads. (Google them.) There are many others as well, so find one that works for you. Or, send a letter to your tampon provider demanding biodegradeable products! :)
4. Start a compost pile for all that organic waste, such as egg shells, coffee filters, tea bags, banana peels, yard waste (like leaves), etc. It doesn't smell as bad as you probably think, and it has benefits even beyond not sending all that stuff to landfills. For detailed information, benefits, and instructions, try Googling: CompostGuide, HowToCompost, and EPA compost. There's even a way to compost if you live in an apartment or have no backyard.
1. Recycle. I don't know about your neighborhood, but in mine, recycling bins are free. To find out if you can get a free bin, Google "the recycling center".
2. Get biodegradable trash bags. If you can't find them in your town, they're available at the Amazon, DrugStore, EcoProducts web sites, and many others.
3. Get washable cloth bags to use as grocery bags. They're much sturdier, too! Amazon has a variety of them -- just search "grocery bag".
the solution's simple: get rid of all the factories and technology and return to a way of life where everything is done either manually or with the help of animals and non-fuel-burning machines (i.e., windmills). that's the only way of life that's actually sustainable.
Unfortunatly that won't happen just by us convincing society to do so. Some catastrophy, war or natural disaster would likely force most of the world to that condition at some point though.

having raped and pillaged this planet for over a hundred years now, our greed and ignorance is finally starting to catch up with us--global warming, deforestation, urban/suburban sprawl, dwindling resources. perhaps it's time that we, as a species, take a collective time-out and re-think our approach to life--before it's too late.
There's alot of things "activists" support the've never heard about. And since you don't know, I guess it's up to me to explain.

Population control, in general though, has always met genocide. How in the hell can you advocate something like that?
not yet anyway. as we move closer to socialism and a collectivist socialized medical model, the cost to keep granny alive will be too great, then the disabled, then by income level and finally by belief system. Government will decide who will live based on what they contribute to the greater group.
Food and water will be the new weapons. Soon they will be able to kill millions by simply doing nothing. the world's very poor don't consume much, right? So who's next? Do you think?

Yeah, there were absolutely NO PROBLEMS when Clinton was in office. Democrats screwed up this country as much as Republicans. Remember that the Democrats control both houses of Congress. They make the laws in this nation.

Can anybody here figure out what the hell MonkeyShit is talking about and what point he is trying to make?? If there is a point somewhere in his comments I sure can't find it. I think he is just helping to pollute the planet by posting a bunch of garbage here.
Why the hell don't you stop? Are you thick or what? You "pollute" just as much as he does, so shut the hell up if you dont have anything to say that doesn't relate to the video and HAS A POINT (and yes I will apply my words to myself).
its funny when people are so retarded that they have to have a conversation on youtube. this section is for comments about the video. My comment for the video is, very informative. At some point someone could make money from all this recyclable material.
Hey everybody. MonkeyScout thinks that all business people are totally honest (maybe there are actually a few who are) and all politicians have perfect integrity. Well, this 16 year old MonkeyScout is going to be in for a very rude surprise when it is time to leave home and go out into the real world.
Don't take me as a child who doesn't know evil in the world. You are just as bad as the middle school kids I had to deal with my life and you're 41... How sad. I KNOW corruption happens, its everywhere. I KNOW this, yet I still don't think the pay off is good enough in the end. If you read the newspapers, we are in a housing slump. You SHOULD know this if you are teasing me about not reading up. You might have been naive and clueless as a child, doesn't mean I am.
I use plastic shopping bags as trash bags when I'm done but I guess it would be better if I used cloth shopping bags and recycled, sure but in order for this to catch on with the rest of the public we need to make recycling easier and more convenient.
Aluminum and plastic are the only materials worth recycling. Aluminum because it takes huge amounts of electricity to smelt aluminum ore, and plastic because oil is a non-renewable resource. As for the idea that we're running out of trees: bullshit, we have tree farms for paper just like potato farms for fries.
Aluminium is too weak to do such thing, and it would cost to much money, for something that in the end is not worth it. Haven't you ever steped on a can and squashed it?
Recycle!!! Seriously, we really need to get our act together and recycle everything. Programs should be set up so that everyone recycles... or maybe an incentive to motivate those people who don't care...
Japan is very good for this... we should adopt their recycling system...
Would you care? A house is a house and you even smell the damn garbage. My schools stadium is built over a landfill, I didn't know until a teacher told me.
MonkeyScout, Have you ever heard of a neighborhood in Niagara Falls, New York called Love Canal? Look it up on the internet sometime. It was built on top of a landfill.
There are areas put aside for toxic waste. And the Love Canal issue happened when people weren't as concerned about it. I'm damn sure that if toxic garbage was found now, they wouldn't build houses over it... A golf course is a maybe, but I'm not sure about that.
MonkeyScout, Okay, I believe you. No toxic waste ever gets into landfills and no real estate developer will ever do anything even the slightest bit illegal or immoral. I also believe that all politicians are honest, America has 500 years worth of petroleum reserves, and if we all sprinkle fairy dust on ourselves and think happy thoughts, we can fly just like Peter Pan.
You honestly think a real estate developer would take such a risk? Unless they had a lot of money to bribe officials and build houses, a big cost, they wouldn't do it. It won't pay off in the end.
MonkeyScout, Corruption happens every day in every kind of business. Don't you read the news? And believe me, only a very tiny percentage of people ever get caught. That is why they are will to take the risk. The only thing you can do is decide if you want to participate in it or try to keep yourself clean. Hopefully you will grow up better than most of the people I have worked for.
MonkeyScout, Your comments are funny in a tragic kind of way. I just checked your channel page and found that you are 16 years old. You have no idea who is going on in the real world outside your house. You are so naive. Well, I worked in construction for years. I saw business owners lie, cheat, and steal hundreds of times. In fact, it is pretty much standard procedure. And yes, I do know of cases where officials took bribes in cash or favors.
Yeah? My parents work in construction and they got screwed over so many times by people who took advantage of them. I think I know how bad things are after seeing them suffer. Don't assume things about people you don't know. After all, you might be so wrong that it's tragic.
MonkeyScout, What do you mean "Don't assume things about people you don't know"? You just did exactly the same thing when you said that real estate developers wouldn't build on contaminated land. (which they have done many times) Why are you telling me not to do something when you are doing that same thing? That seems very hypocritical.
My assumption makes more sense, though I admit I was hypocritical. I want to know... Why the hell is a 41 year old arguing with a 16 year old? And I also notice you didn't challenge my other argument about how it wouldn't pay off because of a housing slump.
MonkeyScout, What are you talking about? I never said anything would pay off as you are falsely implying. I just said I saw corruption happening. And then you admitted you know about it thus verifying my point - even though you had previously lied and said it didn't happen. And why the hell is a 16 year old arguing with a 41 year old. Don't you have anything better to do - like going to school perhaps?
I never said it didn't happen. I said it won't pay off to happen. The ends don't justify the means. I already did go to school. I'm here on my spare time. Shouldn't you be doing something more productive?
Hey MonkeyScout, Wow, you really are a hypocrite. Now you are criticizing me for arguing with a person of a different age when you are doing exactly the same thing!
Anyway, the arguement was about whether or not their is corruption in the construction business. I said there is. You said there isn't. Now you have finally admitted that there is and that you already knew about it. Thank you.
I said it wouldn't pay off so it wouldn't make sense now, I don't remember saying it isn't there, thats something you made a assumption on. But hey, you criticized for me being 16. Don't complain when someone pulls the same arguments on you.
Hey MonkeyShit So you are now claiming you never said there is no corruption in the construction business. But before you said, "they wouldn't build houses over it" You also said, " You honestly think a real estate developer would take such a risk" You know, the comments you made in the past are still here and anybody can read them and see your contradictions, hypocrisies, and outright lies. Are you going to continue to humiliate yourself this way?
Hey MonkeyShit, I didn't criticize you for being 16 as you are now falsely claiming. Maybe you need to read that again. I just figured that your lack of life experience was the basis of your ignorance and utter stupidity. But I'm willing to consider the possibility that there may be other causes for it. A serious head injury or use of illegal narcotics perhaps?
Though I had a head injury, it won't do anything. I said they won't take such a risk because it won't pay off, like I've been saying. I notice you still didn't challenge that it won't pay off. I'm bored, thats my reason for continuing this. Are you another 16 year old posing as a 41 year old because you're bored too?
Hey MonkeySucker, What the hell are you talking about?? I never said that taking such risks in business would pay off or would not pay off. So I have nothing to defend on that subject. Dude, you seriously confused!! I just said I saw those things happening. I didn't say what the result was. If you want to create a fantasy world in your own mind and pretend the world is perfect and noboby then go right ahead and do that.
Its what I said. You criticized it. You made my point into something else entirely. So therefore, eat your own words. And I say you are thirteen because I never seen a adult act so much like a teenager. Easy enough to tell apart your own kind.
I agree with you! Of course space is a terrible answer. eventually we'll run out of resources. there's only so much aluminum on Earth. (plus it's much cheaper for everyone to just recycle it anyways than mine for aluminum.) If we would just get our act together as a planet and recycle, this wouldn't be problem. Plus, I don't want to fuck up the all important sun.
um... they do? what about environmentalists with other religious beliefs who don't believe in embalming or permanent burial? or environmentalists who choose a "green" burial (no box, no embalming)?
To be honest, North Americans are not the only culprits here. Sure, we have a lot of trash that we throw out, but so does wherever you live. Humans do not differ like that in personality by continent, so don't make fun of us or blame it on us...
Really interesting, especially the plastic thing. Never thought of how much we shop with everything wrapped in plastic, then plastic bag, then another plastic garbage bag, and another!
-_- Jupitar has it's own gravity. So that orbits around it or eventually crash into it. If we throw trash into space near earth . It would eaither orbit around it or disingrate when gets into the earth's atmospere. Depends what the trash is. "Stupid . Learn some Science."
Well, sending trash (material, matter, molecules) into space is like selling your own body parts (spare kidney, eye, ear....other ear, other eye, pinky, etc) so you can buy food. Hope that analogy hits home!

Can anybody here figure out what the hell MonkeyShit is talking about and what point he is trying to make?? If there is a point somewhere in his comments I sure can't find it. I think he is just helping to pollute the planet by posting a bunch of garbage here.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Why the hell don't you stop? Are you thick or what? You "pollute" just as much as he does, so shut the hell up if you dont have anything to say that doesn't relate to the video and HAS A POINT (and yes I will apply my words to myself).

send all the trash to outer space

its funny when people are so retarded that they have to have a conversation on youtube. this section is for comments about the video. My comment for the video is, very informative. At some point someone could make money from all this recyclable material.

Amazing, Recycling is important and saves a lot of waste from actually becoming waste.
Victory1981 3 years ago
xD yeah,I kinda knew that in kindergarden :3.
kion854 3 years ago
Hey everybody. MonkeyScout thinks that all business people are totally honest (maybe there are actually a few who are) and all politicians have perfect integrity. Well, this 16 year old MonkeyScout is going to be in for a very rude surprise when it is time to leave home and go out into the real world.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Don't take me as a child who doesn't know evil in the world. You are just as bad as the middle school kids I had to deal with my life and you're 41... How sad. I KNOW corruption happens, its everywhere. I KNOW this, yet I still don't think the pay off is good enough in the end. If you read the newspapers, we are in a housing slump. You SHOULD know this if you are teasing me about not reading up. You might have been naive and clueless as a child, doesn't mean I am.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
Hey why ditn you two knock it of already? All that bullshit about developers has nothing to do with the video, ok?

I like the idea of a roof over New York ;-)

wow thats a ton shit
lftr2 3 years ago
I use plastic shopping bags as trash bags when I'm done but I guess it would be better if I used cloth shopping bags and recycled, sure but in order for this to catch on with the rest of the public we need to make recycling easier and more convenient.
nebulareclipse 3 years ago
Aluminum and plastic are the only materials worth recycling. Aluminum because it takes huge amounts of electricity to smelt aluminum ore, and plastic because oil is a non-renewable resource. As for the idea that we're running out of trees: bullshit, we have tree farms for paper just like potato farms for fries.
mtheory85 3 years ago
Recycle, use cloth shopping bags.
FlaviusAetiusII 3 years ago 3
Then, what's the point???
mybogus001 3 years ago
'Thats enough aluminin to build a roof over NYC!" Then why don't we?
HippoShemp 3 years ago
but why?
nebulareclipse 3 years ago
why not? we have the materials right? :P
viciousmeow 3 years ago
Aluminium is too weak to do such thing, and it would cost to much money, for something that in the end is not worth it. Haven't you ever steped on a can and squashed it?
divarascka 3 years ago
Recycle!!! Seriously, we really need to get our act together and recycle everything. Programs should be set up so that everyone recycles... or maybe an incentive to motivate those people who don't care...
Japan is very good for this... we should adopt their recycling system...
pdtulip 3 years ago 4
yea we recycle a lot of the trash we use
(no no not just that blue bin)
everything is considered "recyclable"
ShardedFire 3 years ago
That's really commendable to your family but A LOT of people don't. And that's the problem.
putridmist 3 years ago
People forget that landfills have dirt put on them, are made flat and become into places for housing or golf courses.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, Would you buy a house that is on top of millions of pounds of garbage?
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Would you care? A house is a house and you even smell the damn garbage. My schools stadium is built over a landfill, I didn't know until a teacher told me.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, Have you ever heard of a neighborhood in Niagara Falls, New York called Love Canal? Look it up on the internet sometime. It was built on top of a landfill.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
There are areas put aside for toxic waste. And the Love Canal issue happened when people weren't as concerned about it. I'm damn sure that if toxic garbage was found now, they wouldn't build houses over it... A golf course is a maybe, but I'm not sure about that.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, Okay, I believe you. No toxic waste ever gets into landfills and no real estate developer will ever do anything even the slightest bit illegal or immoral. I also believe that all politicians are honest, America has 500 years worth of petroleum reserves, and if we all sprinkle fairy dust on ourselves and think happy thoughts, we can fly just like Peter Pan.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
You honestly think a real estate developer would take such a risk? Unless they had a lot of money to bribe officials and build houses, a big cost, they wouldn't do it. It won't pay off in the end.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, Corruption happens every day in every kind of business. Don't you read the news? And believe me, only a very tiny percentage of people ever get caught. That is why they are will to take the risk. The only thing you can do is decide if you want to participate in it or try to keep yourself clean. Hopefully you will grow up better than most of the people I have worked for.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, Your comments are funny in a tragic kind of way. I just checked your channel page and found that you are 16 years old. You have no idea who is going on in the real world outside your house. You are so naive. Well, I worked in construction for years. I saw business owners lie, cheat, and steal hundreds of times. In fact, it is pretty much standard procedure. And yes, I do know of cases where officials took bribes in cash or favors.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Yeah? My parents work in construction and they got screwed over so many times by people who took advantage of them. I think I know how bad things are after seeing them suffer. Don't assume things about people you don't know. After all, you might be so wrong that it's tragic.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, What do you mean "Don't assume things about people you don't know"? You just did exactly the same thing when you said that real estate developers wouldn't build on contaminated land. (which they have done many times) Why are you telling me not to do something when you are doing that same thing? That seems very hypocritical.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
My assumption makes more sense, though I admit I was hypocritical. I want to know... Why the hell is a 41 year old arguing with a 16 year old? And I also notice you didn't challenge my other argument about how it wouldn't pay off because of a housing slump.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
MonkeyScout, What are you talking about? I never said anything would pay off as you are falsely implying. I just said I saw corruption happening. And then you admitted you know about it thus verifying my point - even though you had previously lied and said it didn't happen. And why the hell is a 16 year old arguing with a 41 year old. Don't you have anything better to do - like going to school perhaps?
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
I never said it didn't happen. I said it won't pay off to happen. The ends don't justify the means. I already did go to school. I'm here on my spare time. Shouldn't you be doing something more productive?
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
Hey MonkeyScout, Wow, you really are a hypocrite. Now you are criticizing me for arguing with a person of a different age when you are doing exactly the same thing!
Anyway, the arguement was about whether or not their is corruption in the construction business. I said there is. You said there isn't. Now you have finally admitted that there is and that you already knew about it. Thank you.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
I said it wouldn't pay off so it wouldn't make sense now, I don't remember saying it isn't there, thats something you made a assumption on. But hey, you criticized for me being 16. Don't complain when someone pulls the same arguments on you.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
Hey MonkeyShit So you are now claiming you never said there is no corruption in the construction business. But before you said, "they wouldn't build houses over it" You also said, " You honestly think a real estate developer would take such a risk" You know, the comments you made in the past are still here and anybody can read them and see your contradictions, hypocrisies, and outright lies. Are you going to continue to humiliate yourself this way?
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Hey MonkeyShit, I didn't criticize you for being 16 as you are now falsely claiming. Maybe you need to read that again. I just figured that your lack of life experience was the basis of your ignorance and utter stupidity. But I'm willing to consider the possibility that there may be other causes for it. A serious head injury or use of illegal narcotics perhaps?
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Though I had a head injury, it won't do anything. I said they won't take such a risk because it won't pay off, like I've been saying. I notice you still didn't challenge that it won't pay off. I'm bored, thats my reason for continuing this. Are you another 16 year old posing as a 41 year old because you're bored too?
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
Hey MonkeySucker, What the hell are you talking about?? I never said that taking such risks in business would pay off or would not pay off. So I have nothing to defend on that subject. Dude, you seriously confused!! I just said I saw those things happening. I didn't say what the result was. If you want to create a fantasy world in your own mind and pretend the world is perfect and noboby then go right ahead and do that.
ClamLuvr 3 years ago
Its what I said. You criticized it. You made my point into something else entirely. So therefore, eat your own words. And I say you are thirteen because I never seen a adult act so much like a teenager. Easy enough to tell apart your own kind.
MonkeyScout 3 years ago
Hey MonkeySucker. Oh yeah, I'm a 16 year old. I started working in construction when I was a baby. DUH! Moron Alert!!

that would be way too expensive
AkariLee 3 years ago
I agree with you! Of course space is a terrible answer. eventually we'll run out of resources. there's only so much aluminum on Earth. (plus it's much cheaper for everyone to just recycle it anyways than mine for aluminum.) If we would just get our act together as a planet and recycle, this wouldn't be problem. Plus, I don't want to fuck up the all important sun.

To be honest, North Americans are not the only culprits here. Sure, we have a lot of trash that we throw out, but so does wherever you live. Humans do not differ like that in personality by continent, so don't make fun of us or blame it on us...

Iplaydrums2112 3 years ago 3
Er. No.
Garbage won't orbit Earth.
Why would something you chuck out space be returned to you?
The rovers we sent out past Jupiter never returned.
Stupid people. Learn some Science.
LovelyYTRocks 3 years ago
-_- Jupitar has it's own gravity. So that orbits around it or eventually crash into it. If we throw trash into space near earth . It would eaither orbit around it or disingrate when gets into the earth's atmospere. Depends what the trash is. "Stupid . Learn some Science."

Well, sending trash (material, matter, molecules) into space is like selling your own body parts (spare kidney, eye, ear....other ear, other eye, pinky, etc) so you can buy food. Hope that analogy hits home!
