I dunno... Riley has a personality of his own and I think I like this character better than Marco. Like another person previously posted, Riley speaks to a different group of gays that Marco just could not. I think I can relate more to Riley about the perceived issue of being gay and feeling strange about it, even though it cannot be changed. He does have anger issues... but that's all in his character. Its almost like real life. No one is perfect.

I heard that Riley was originally suppose to be a junior but then in Man With Two Hearts the put him with seniors and now in "Beat It" he's hanging with the junior again!!! So we're thinking that in season 10 he'll still be at Degrassi!!! That's what they did with Chantya before! The creators probably think we won't notice hahahaa

Agreed, I think Riley can speak to another group of gays that Marco couldn't. Reminds me of being in high school again. First few years of coming out was so tough. Even when the majority of friends accepted me, I realized I hadn't accepted myself and so I still didn't express it. When i think back on it, I am saddened by how much I missed out on. Dates, romance, talking about experiences. A few years later, I'm in the Army now, have a boyfriend, we own a house together, and I'm still a man lol.

Why the thumbs down. I get what you mean completely. Riley is very unstable, but he portrays a different aspect of young homosexuality compared to Marco. Marco was one of those so gay you can't hide it guys, whereas Riley's a lot more macho, and in the gay world, masculine gay men go through so much confusion and resentment because of gay stereotypes. They played it safe with Marco, this is something a bit more daring and interesting.

I don't like how they tried to make Riley look more stereotypically gay after it was established that he was bi. I loved that there was a non-straight character that wasn't totally camp (and cute)... and then they gave him spiky sideburns and lots of eyeliner so as not to confuse the public.
