This is currently a very popular 'sport' on SXM, at the time of this film, I had never seen it done before, hey call ne crazy, being a commercial pilot and all... Ever see "Pushing Tin"?
Wow! Now imagine a 8 stone, young, long haired boy... I'd be blown away completely... even if I hung onto that fence. I don't like the wind anyway so this would scare me to death.
i think i was there if its st.martin doing the same thing they call it "FLY THE WIRE" you hold on tight to the wire without a camera and when the plan revs up to takeoff, your like a flag flying off the wire some people get blown off but you try to hold on its cool
HAHA nice video ( and trunks! XD). I heard a story about that airport... A 747 was taking off and some guy flung his dog up and the dog got pushhed into the ocean from the force of the engines. The dog was never seen again.
actually mate, the DC9's engines point straight where I was. a 747 or a340's would have been off to the side. there are heaps of videos of idiots (like me) doing this on "747 Thursday", where at leaset 4 b747s take off in one day ey. cheers!!!
MOST AIRPORTS W/ JETS HAVE BLAST FENCES. i HEARD WINDNOISE, BUT NOT COMBUSTION NOISE FROM THE JET ENGINE. FOR SOME REASON, BOTH JETS & PROPS SEEM SILENT WHEN YOU'RE IN THEIR WASH.
It is from the wind nosie you hear, it has decibles lowder than the jets engines and your ears can't focus on the jet engine at all, wierd, but sucks if you live under a traffic pattern, cool if you live next to it!
LOL DUDE THAT PLANE EFFED YOU UP!! God damn I hope you're ok.. that looked like it smarted... that has to be illegal or something putting a airport that close to a beach.
looks like it, its one of the few places in the world where you can photo planes that close. One time, an Air France 747 actually hit the top of the fence, so better off standing to one side eh....

How were you going to get the 5-0 effect with an airplane taking off? Just wondering..
scaremenga 1 year ago
@scaremenga I had already filmed several aircraft landing, got some good shots as well. this was just a bonus.. lol

mate, a 747's engines are so bloody far apart. a DC9's are pointed straight back with some 600,000lbs of thrust combined. Try it with a '9' sometime.
