  • i will definitely be out tomorrow! tuition is costing me an arm and a leg!!

  • To the people insulting this video because they apparently are not addressing your preferred educational issue, think about it. Obviously they know other students may have it worse and they are fortunate to live in the place where they do. These people are trying to bring awareness to something they feel is an issue and I'm sure many others like them feel is an issue as well. Appreciate the fact that there are people striving for true improvement, and hope that there are more like them.

  • Yeahhh Us!

  • First World Problems indeed.

Come on, if you don't want to face loans, don't go to school. Simple as that. We're one of the most privileged demographics in the world. We aren't starving, or worried about clean water.

If education as a right is what we're after, why are we only focusing on University/college students? Many people don't even have a basic education provided for them freely.

Please, from a fellow student, stop whining.

  • @EarlLindMyers 30 years ago, going to college got you ahead of the game and helped a student get an actual career off the ground. Today most students wind up pursuing a college education and there are less jobs available. What this means is that you need a college degree or graduate education if you even want to compete for a job in the workforce today. Call it a first world problem if you insist but I intend to have a job to support a family one day and that can't happen if I can't go to school

  • @ThatOldMixtape

I do acknowledge the importance of post-secondary education in Canada, and elsewhere; that's the reason I'm in school myself. I realize that my post came across as dickish, but I'm aggravated by the fact that this movement is about personal interest (albeit for the greater good). University while important, is still a choice. And for the most part, graduates will find a way to pay the bills. By being there you agree the juice is worth the squeeze.

  • @EarlLindMyers Clearly they can find a way to pay the bills too since they're in university themselves. But a lot of students can't. The drop fees campaign clearly doesn't have an immediate effect on anyone actually taking part since it's a lot more difficult than that so it's not for personal interest. It's in hopes that the students who CAN'T afford to go to school will be able to when the time comes.

  • @EarlLindMyers Maybe one day if I can actually support myself with a real job, I can start supporting third world problems but not going to college isn't going to help them out any either. Maybe you don't give a shit. But these student activists you're chastising are the very people who actually will make an effort after their education to help support things like third world education. So please think about things critically before blasting your opinion. That's a skill I learned in college.

  • Change begins at home, this is where you start. Then when you and the world are ready you can use your voice to go and change the world. Many have tried without success maybe all they need is for you to speak up and raise a little hell.

Remember speaking out and speaking up is never whining.

As a mother of one of these students, I say whining gets you what you want. It did when you where young and it will now. So whine as loud as you can and people will listen. Your parents did and still do.

  • @EarlLindMyers you must come from a family who pays your tuition..these kids dont have that luxury of having rich parents..so it seems to me your a little jealous that they have the guts to complain about rising cost of there education..and yes there are Canadian staving, and yes there are Canadians who don't have clean water ..and yes in canada your basic education is provided free..so maybe you need to do some homework before you open up your big mouth

  • @sher1684

I think you are being a little presumptuous claiming that I come from rich parents. I don't. I do have loans. I also know many people who've paid for their education on loan. They don't complain. My point is that post secondary education is a choice. If you think it's worth it, you pay for it. Yes costs are rising, it sucks. But no one is forcing you to go to school.

  • I would love to do this!! unfortunately McMaster is full of apathetic conservative privileged assholes so it probs wouldn't go down

  • Good work folks!

  • I assure you bluejays24 these kids do not have rich parents splashing cash on their tuition. As I am one of the parents.

  • a good portion of those fruits probably have rich parents splashing cash on their tuition lol

    first world problems

  • Eille j'ai manqué ça! C'est cool.

    J'aurais jamais imaginé qu'on verrait un "flashmob" à l'Université d'Ottawa... :)
