  • 1:55 damn, i am dirty

  • picks made of wood XD

    nice tut by the way

  • dic pic's hahahaha.

  • this one is purple, no shit sherlock.

  • I'm able to bust a lil solo now with my thumb.. but i still can't use a fucking pick for it.. i just stuff it up on the first few notes

  • The only picks that I've ever had, that I currently have, are the exact same picks you show in this video :D

  • i made my own pick out of a cd!

  • I use alice picks 0.71mm for acoustic.

    really confortble !

  • @iliashah123 same here!

  • Dunlop Gels extra heavy ftw.

  • I prefer a large paper clip slightly bent to my thumb but, a quarter works too.

  • Dear Lil Bitty Feller - turn your fucking hat around like a white boy - thanks ever so fucking much!

  • Wait! A .8 is only a medium?

  • kids, if you practice and learn the right way to hold a pick, you will eventually stop dropping picks, and picks will stop turning. you dont need special grip-textured picks. you can use regular tortoise shell Fender picks. btw, those small picks are actually mandolin picks.

  • vpicks

  • My favorite type of picks, are Cool picks they have a sand paper grit grip and it won slip in your hand. the jim dunlop with raised letters are really nice too.

  • what about the Pick of Destiny

  • samantha is very cute

  • Comment removed

  • haha samantha is a persons name

  • by the way, you could get yourself any type of plectrum, and just drill a hole in it lol.

  • I prefer using my fingers

  • I suggest anyone not happy with their sound to try different picks, they might finally find what they are looking for.

  • Why are you slapping your dog

  • @TheOriginalFrancis He wasn't slapping his dog. He was pounding it. He was pounding his dog with his hand.

  • Two words- V-PICKS!!!!!! They are fast, sound great, don't slip, and make you play with a lighter hand. Great for proper picking technique. I think that everyone should use V-picks.

  • i use 1.14

  • You can put the same rubber grip that I use on the Surfpick Bullet Pick onto your favorite pick by dipping it in a product called 'Plasti-Dip'.

Lignum Vitae is a pick material that gets 'grippier' when it becomes wet, instead of slipperier.

  • I've got the Fender pick he was comparing to the Jazz2

  • don't hit samantha like that!!!

  • ohh nononono..that's not a chihuahua dog, dude. That's a REAL men's dog!

  • Good discussion.

I recently ran across Cactus Picks,

which have little prickles on the grip surface.

I immediately ordered a hundred of them,

and so many people steal them that I need to re-order.

  • red and black jazz 3's!!!!

  • Planet Waves Sure Picks are really good and have a great grip. Can't figure out what material they are. The red/thin ones are more like a medium from another company.

    -Ben

  • gibson pure H

    picks for me

  • can you really hit your dog that hard?

  • ya i kno huh hes like smakin the poor thing. LMFAO

  • i like the jim dunlop transparent X-H

  • did he put his hand in the dog's throat o_O

  • lol @ 0:36 to 0:42 it sounds funny the way you're talking [I talk to my dog the same way.] BTW check out Red Bear picks, AMAZING. Imitation tortoise shell, best $18.00 I ever spent!

  • =====ATTENTION=========

  • i dont like the jazz picks personally. i have the black. i have tons of picks... i like dunlop tortex

  • my dog doesnt let me reach into her mouth, she'll bite my hand off

  • @8ballsix27 shoot her

  • I like to use dunlop .88's,

and to grip them, I take a knife and cut little grooves in the sides

  • check out my glass guitar pick vids - just click moe353sa in blue above...

  • lol The dog ate the pick.

  • i find it funny that when he shows you the pick, he tells you the color.

"They also have these picks-- this one's purple..."

  • question? ive been playin 4 bout a year and wen i pick i pick the strings over 20th fret and 21th fret, dose that make a difference or is it ok? any feed back wud be gud thanks

  • It would be a problem if you wanted to play palm muted stuff because with your hand so high the palm muted stuff will sound horrible.

I find it better to pick stuff in between the humbuckers if you have a guitar with 2 humbuckers or over the middle single coil if you have a SSS or HSS guitar ( that means 3 singe coils or 2 single coils and a humbucker )

  • thanks a million for the advise. its a bad habbit i picked up when i started playing a while ago, but ill be able to correct it now. thanks.

  • omg i have the same fender pick

    omgomgomgomgomgomg

    we're cool

  • i got a gibson pure H pick what does pure H mean

  • Heavy most likely

  • i have both those stubbies! :D

  • i just broke my 4th and #0 string of my ibanez gio guitar . i think its jazz III's fault hahaha

  • thanks alot it made it easier for me

  • I thought they were called Jazz III's :S

    Petrucci uses Jazz III's

  • jazz ii"s have a more rounded point and the jazz i"s have a really round point

  • is a 3.0mm pick really thick?

  • yes if you have a 1.0mm pick put 3 of them together and see if u like the feel

  • a 3mm pick is huge

  • they have dog eating picks? lol wondfer how that wors

  • Heck i only use Dunlop .88mm and below. I cannot stand those Stubby picks. They slip all over the place.

  • whats the point of a sharkfin picK?????

  • thank you for making this

  • Ive been using the red jazz pick shown at 6:50. The exact same one for almost 2 years

  • i get the 1.5mm and run it across the carpet untill it is the shape of the jazz picks but i leave a lot finer point on mine.

  • 2mm gator grips..thickest gator grip Dunlop makes (to my knowledge) I love 'em. Check em out.

  • lol samantha bad girl!

  • lol samantha

  • I use Dunlop Tortex .60mm picks

thet are really good pretty much any style of music and they dont fall out of your hand when you play.

  • 4 anyone whos new lucky 13 pics are really good for playing rock metal type music or softer classic rock i use them and they are really good

  • what thickness is best for strumming up and down while palm muting?

  • i have fender mediums. they do slip around quite a bit..

  • i like dunlop and fender the best

  • awsome dog

  • you remind me of nick swardson

  • cute dog

  • fender picks are the best ive used those for years now

  • Ibanez picks its are good choice for the new guitarist.....i have used that

  • stop the vid at 3:57

  • What about it?

  • ummmm can u use your fingers to play guitar or do u NEED a pick

  • I use my fingers... for god's sake I can't use the pick.

I play nylon but even acoustic I use fingers

  • Has any one ever heard of rhino horn picks?? like an actual rhinos horn carved in to a pick. ever heard of em??

  • thatd b illegal

  • no bro i got a couple of em i just read the company name there old as hell

  • iv heard of ivory dice.

wats so good about rhino horn pick?

i though it was illegal to hunt them and kill for the horn

  • it probably is but the person who got it from me went to like some country and got it

  • it is

  • i use the Dunlop Jazz III picks... their awesome, quite thick, and well... they sound pretty good ;) used to use the Fender Medium picks, but even when i played through my amp, the i could hear the pick, cuz its so freakin thin...

  • Wegen picks are the best.

  • I like the Delrin 1.5mm picks (I think Yngwie uses them as well). They're super smooth so I lightly scuff them up a bit with sandpaper. I've never dropped one and they don't slide around.

  • Fuck, it's impossible to play with this crap! I prefer fingers.

  • i dont even know how to tune a guitar but i want to play guitar soooo bad

  • dammit samantha!!!!

  • what is your favorite kind of pick? i like the brand star picks cuz it wont move around and it was good for me when i was a begginer

  • what about coins instead of picks?????

  • brian may did that

  • What????

  • Brian may uses coins as picks

    hes the guitarist from queen

  • I Prefer Ruler Picks..

    It's Thin and Just Right...

  • i like thick picks. they sound better

  • personally i prefer snarling dogs picks but dunlop is good too

  • What's the difference between the red and the black Jazz picks.

  • The black Jazz "stiffo" picks have less give than the regular red ones. If you try a Jazz 3 pick, it will take some time to get used to, but once you do you will notice how much more control you have. :)

  • I use Dunlop Nylon .88 (the dark gray one dave has in the video) and I love em.

  • don't beat the dog

  • Dunlop ftw.

  • Just what I was looking for, thanks!

  • When i set my guitar to extremely low action i noticed that the only pick size work for me is THIN !

  • j.dunlop stubbies for me its nice with my les paul.

  • Dunlop .71

  • I use extra thick picks that are made to last longer. to prevent them from falling out of my hand, I make them rough with a bit of sanding paper.

  • What kind of pick would give a pop rock or pop punk sound? PLEASE HELP!

  • what can give the hevay metal sound im looking for what kinda pick????help!!!!

  • a really heavy one ohh yeah. i use dunlop. heavy 1.14mm.

  • Dunlop Tortex 1.0mm or higher

  • great dog

  • Silly girl

  • God, I was making so much progress. I sounded great, strumming with my thumb.

    Then I tried a pick!

    Sounded like hell!

  • haah the dog !

  • what does muted mean?? please reply!!!!!!!!!

  • when you touch the strings and still play the chord at the same time that would be a muted chord.

  • Thanks Brother

  • I play the spanish style so I use my nails!

    shit makes U slow!

  • gibSon medium pick is da best

  • fender heavy 4 me

  • i use Fender medium picks i think there the best

  • I use Ibanez Heavy, and they rocks! ;)

  • I'm using Dunlop Tortex standard 1.0 mm picks right now, I can't really play as fast as I want to with them. Is there any way to train my picking hand to go faster?

  • a?

    what?

  • che dice?

  • plz dont scream if my question is silly...can i learn to play electric guitar from the start or i must start with the classic one and continue with the electronic?

  • electric guitar is probably easier to begin with. go right ahead.

  • It's your choice. If you want to play the kind of music which a classical guitar is good for, go for it. I don't think you really need it if you want to learn electric guitar, the strings on an electric are a lot easier to press down.

  • usually you start with acoustic and once you get the hang of that you move to electric

  • plz dont scream if my question is silly...can i learn to play electric guitar from the start or i must start with the classic one and continue with the electronic?

  • well u can start with anything u want guitar playng is a matter of choice. "its wat feels right to you" u can chose anything that "YOU" feel good with. so get ur self a guitar and rock on...

  • The best sive picks genrally are medium sized because they are good for all size and emit good accoustic sound

  • Fender Medium are the best guitar picks with the marble effect

  • thanks.

  • they have picks called ice i ferget wat company but thay r clear but have a blue plastic grip that is rough like griptape u put ur thumb ryt on it and its so comfortable and stays in ur fingers even wen uve been playin for a while and ur hands get all sweaty there mad good

  • dude that is so sweet

  • i have an acoustic guitar and i want to play country and pop songs..what kind of pick should i use???

  • i have a question. what size pick should i use for sweet child of mine? thats the main song i want to learn to play.

  • i use some dunlop gator grip .71mm (purple ones) and theyre badass for any song...

  • thanks

  • I use the dunlop jazz 3 nylons. love them, but it takes getting used to since they're so small.

  • me too

  • good observations, I use the .96 Dunlop purple pick (it has an alligator on it ^^) and I've been using the Joe Satriani picks lately too, but the thing is, you just have to try all of them until you find your pick. lol on the "picks come in all shapes and sizes" that sounds kind of wrong.

  • u did not mention the pick of destiny

  • They also have these picks with like a ring on the back of it so you put it on your index finger and hold it with your thumb and if you take your thumb off of the pick the pick wont fall fall out of your hands.

  • U were very informative, easy to follow. Only 1 thing kept distracting me........I thought you had 2 different voices, through out much of the video. lol

It's much easier to follow along with 1 teacher's voice.

I video producer and 1 teacher Please.

  • u were very informative dint realize there were so many choices

  • your handsome

  • shut up

  • your stupid! lol nothing wrong with giving some one a compliment!! lol he is very talented and handsome ,, lol to sad for you!

  • Oh shut up gay

  • anybody else use Dava picks? They've got a cool rubber grip on em
