  • Steven Wilson just got more awesome to me.

  • Is he telling me to get a Zune?

  • how did he get all this ipods? where they given to him by friends ?

  • I hope he didnt shoot like that, heh

  • If there's anything Steven Wilson should be smashing, it's radios. The radio can burn in hell for all I care, but I love my ipod :)

  • Steven HATES the loudness wars and the mp3 (128k music) culture.

Nothing about downloading, just that things like the ipod have ruined quality music.

  • WHAT IS THAT SONG?

  • I do download single songs illegally. Its how I know if an album is worth the money or not.

Some people download albums. That however goes against my own personal ethics. If im going to have an album I want to be able to touch it. And the creators deserve the money and support. That also goes for games. I dont really like Steam since you are encouraged to download games without a case and that you have to be online to play the games.

  • @PennyDreadful1 As opposed to... downloading games WITH a case? :P You do realize that, for the most part, you don't have to be online to play Steam games, right? Also, as far as I'm concerned, it's far worse to download just a couple of songs from an album than it is to pirate the whole thing. At least with the latter you're getting the full experience.

  • @Arglactable What!? You think its better to spoil your appetite instead of waiting for the real deal? A full album that is! Doesnt make sense to me.

And I never get the Steam offline thing to work. It just wont.... And owning something and to be able to touch its case and admire the artwork just feels better for me.

  • @PennyDreadful1 To me, having a couple of decent songs on an album is just not enough to justify a purchase. Partially because I pretty much exclusively listen to albums in their entirety (the modern trend of single-oriented releases is retarded) and an album with only a few songs I enjoy is a bad value. I definitely agree on your last point. I buy CDs whenever I can. Same goes for games. Buying lossy mp3's is retarded and I don't like my content to be dependent on someone else's server working.

  • @PennyDreadful1 I download full albums, listen to it several times...then if i liked it, i buy it.

  • No ipods were harmed in the making of this film

  • @Bublerkin Don't say that.. that would be a downer.

  • Apple: Be cool like Steven Wilson! Buy a new iPod and destroy it!! lol

  • Is Steven Wilson a hipster?

  • I understand the "album as a story" concept, but what I don't understand is destroying something that less fortunate people would be delighted to have. Is destroying an ipod in an effort to convey one person's message really better than donating it to a kid who loves music and might even be influenced enough to study music? I don't think so. If Steven Wilson is so passionate against ipods, why doesn't he just come out with an album about it? He's creative enough to do that.

  • @CTrane88 look at the ipod most are older then 3rd gen and most prob do not work

  • @Lucifer986 EXCELLENT point, Lucifer986. Your wisdom speaks VOLUMES. Why would an under privileged child ever want an old ipod? HA! What was I thinking by suggesting to donate an ipod, old or new to someone who cannot afford one? We all know that old ipods should be DESTROYED in a fiery, shrapnel death. Because that is the logical thing to do. I envy your wisdom. What I would not GIVE to be able to sense that an ipod in a video does not work...why you've shown me the light today, LUCIFERRRRRRRR.

  • @CTrane88 did you need read the part "most prob dont work" and i wonder where a poor child in India would recharge his ipod or get music from. If you are so worried why don't you get out the united states since your nation is built on slavery, your capitalist system built on exploitation, your tax money funds wars. i thought so hypocrite

  • @Lucifer986 As a matter of fact, Lucifer, I did read that sentence. That is why I replied with "What I would not GIVE to be able to sense that an ipod in a video does not work." How do you know that the ipod didn't work?Eh? And who said anything about India? There are poor children in my country I could give it to. Now you really lost me at the last part. If my nation is built on slavery, capitalism, and my tax money goes to wars, how does that make me a hypocrite? I mean wow. That is a stretch.

  • @CTrane88: Don't have to write my actual comment.. you've said it all. Thumbs up.

  • @Soilwar Thanks, bud.

  • what is this song ?

  • does he hate beer too?

  • doubt he actually hit it . xD

  • Why there are some videos of SW destroying iPod?

  • Why there are some videos of SW destroying iPod?

  • What's the song on the background? Need to download it!

  • What song is that playing in the background?

  • @igwsha1

Significant Other. My fave one from Steven's Insurgentes album.

  • i think steven wilson has something against ipods

  • jezz somepeople have NO gun knowhow

  • @ht448 And you think thats a bad thing?

  • @Benteiron yes

  • @ht448 Good for you.

  • @Benteiron now was your first comment realy needed?

  • @ht448 Was yours? Not everybody needs to know how to use guns, and the fact that you think "gun know-how" is needed is disturbing. And im the sociopathic one here!

  • @Benteiron so you saying that people should't know about guns what would you rather that or some poor kid blowing his brains out with there father firearm, and beside if no one know how to use a gun we would all be fuck if we were invaded wouldnt we! so maby you should re-think your priorites...

  • @ht448 I never said that military personnel dont need to know how to use guns, but why would a civilian have to know how to shoot? And that example of yours is retarded, for two reasons: 1) I hate humans, if some idiot shoots himself in the head, big deal. 2) Why would his father even have a firearm if he isnt a police officer or a soldier etc.? If he does, and doesnt teach his kid about guns he is just a bad parent and an idiot, and the one to blame when the boy lets the world see the insides

  • @ht448 of his head. My point is that civilians dont need guns and they dont necessarily need to know how to use them, and its not bad. Would you rather have a world of gun-crazy bastards? I wouldnt.

  • @Benteiron o god you must be a woman, just becouse people know how to use a gun dosnt make them fuck heads like you, dose it retard!!!!

  • @ht448 Nope, check out my profile picture... Fuck heads like me? Retard? You could actually write those words correctly but "does" proved too difficult you redneck shit. Shoot yourself in the head with one of your beloved guns, make the world a favour.

  • @Benteiron Nope, check my profile im AUSTRALIAN you Fuck!

  • I prefer to look at albums as a whole. I hate downloading "single tracks". Especially the "hits" or "singles" only.

  • What a douche. I hate ipods. I hate the fact that a fan can store all of my albums in one place and listen to them however the hell they want. Fuck Steve Wilson and fuck Porcupine Tree.

  • @talefromthepit dude he just shot at ipod? Why do you want them to be fucked?

  • @talefromthepit dude hes on your side with that issue.

  • @talefromthepit ...If I buy one of your albums, that album is MY goddam album. I'll do what the hell I want with it. Fuck you. Goddam whining ass record company push monkies.

  • 0:12

    "Wow..."

You just know after he said that and the footage cut he was just like "Any got another iPod?" XD

  • Actually I have an iPod Classic, but only due to one reason, it's the cheapest 160GB portable music player nowadays. So I can put PT, Blackfield, Bass Communion, No-Man, IEM, Opeth, Floyd, Yes and all the other great music on it. If there were an other, more reasonbly priced portable music player with enough space out there I surely would buy the other, cause I'm totally against this hype of buying iPods to be cool.

  • I like how he holds that gun in a really akward way. Did he actually shot that thing?

  • @elnegronestor if he did he missed the ipod completely, which would explain the cheap cut to an ipod being blown to bits then back to steve. he's aiming upward when the ipod is resting on a bucket at the base of a tree. as a sportsman, the way he holds that thing makes me cringe.

  • I wonder if the nay-sayers realize that SW doesn't specifically hate iPods or the download culture...in fact, he admits several times all of their advantages. It's their negative effects that he rails on and with good reason. All of these videos are just him "making a statement", if you will. He's not actually boycotting the iPod or anything like that.

  • LOL

  • I love Porcupine Tree and I agree with most of Stevens' point of view.. but this is just stupid. What a waste of money.

  • fire from the hip :D

  • I like PT, and I have an iPod. I think SW is taking this "fuck this generation, fuck the youth, i miss the old days when you were buying actual albums!" bullshit too far now. I respect the man, but destroying iPods is just fucking retarded. I have an iPod, because I love listening to music while im waiting at the bus stop, or just going out for a walk or whatever. I still buy real records, because I love the artwork, the lyrics, and because I want to support the band.

  • "Ipods distract people from what's important about life, which is to develop a sense of curiosity about what's out there" (like guns, flame throwers, hammers...) Such a good example for the kids!! haha I think is just for fun and that was a pretext.

    Anyway, we love him.

  • what the hell? i love porcupine tree and the music. i bought new headphones to have an awesome quality while listening to steven wilson and/or porcupine tree on my iPod. Guns are okay but iPod are not?

  • I love ipods.... because I love music.... who cares about format?? music is music... although I understand that by destroying an ipod he is making a statement about what the ipod represents in the music industry, and that I agree with.

  • ton pousti simadi!!

  • Although laughed my ass out, like I would laugh watching top gear, I can't really have an opinion on this series of iPod destructions, like I also don't have on Top Gear! I'm still asking, WHY?! Should we've been smashing CDs when they appeared because they were going to destroy vinyl?

  • I think that perhaps he is destroying ipods not because of what they are but because of what they represent.

  • 0:11 vááoo:D

  • What about all the battery acid SW has released to the environment? Is that also part of his statement?

  • I'm sure he'll be the straw that breaks the camel's back in comparison to the rest of the planet.

  • I still only use my iPod to store all my purchased cd's. A lot of them are not scratched and/or rare (to not tote them around and handle them all the time) so it's a safer way to keep my cd's in relatively good shape...I still refuse to download :)

  • I do this too, so I don´t really feel guilty about using my mp3-player. :P I only use it when I'm travelling, when I'm at home I just pop a cd in my cd-player. :)

  • i like ipods. just that i store lossless files in them for PT and 320 LAME encoded mp3s for all the rest.

  • What's the name of the song in the background?

  • What song is this?

  • "Significant Other" from Insurgentes album

  • It's not really about stealing from artists by downloading, it's about NOT appreciating the ART itself.

It's about more and more (young) people downloading, listening once (most of the time in very bad quality!) and then "throwing" it away (deleting) because they cannot appreciate the art of "music" because today's society slips into plethora, they're blunted. If the had the chance to listen to one record per month only, they would begin to appreciate music (and other things) more!

  • Precisely. Which is why Burning Shed makes a lot of material available on vinyl, and Wilson spends a lot of time making award winning 5.1 surround sound versions of music. Currently he is working on the King Crimson back catalogue, starting with, I believe, 1974's classic "Red".

  • I've grown into the age of compact discs, have around 250 originals.

I really like seeing artists like steven wilson putting effort in (not only composing and arranging great material) high-quality releases like 5.1 sourround DVD-As and deciding to make their work available on vinyl too.

Someone, who buys vinyl or a dvd-a, must have a good sense of hearing and wishes to gain a high-quality listening experience.

All those 192kbps LAME encoded mp3 files can never hold such a quality as a CD, ...

  • ..., a dvd-a or a vinyl.

I must say, I own two mp3 players, using them only when I'm traveling in the car. I can live with the low quality when my car's engine covers most of the sound of the music. ;)

But: Both my mp3 players are low in file space (4gb and 6gb), they can only hold about 20 albums (yes, albums, no single songs), 256kbps or higher. Having about 20 albums available at a time, I can focus on one album, listening to it more than only ONE time and skipping to the next. Got my point?

  • I like where you went with that schpiel.. good stuff man intuitive. hey any idea when that damn documentrary comes out!!??

  • This is my brother's account..

Imo, if someone thinks you should pay to listen to their music, then I don't think they deserve to have any fans at all.

  • I'm sorry I had a good laugh on that... How can I put this delicately?

Let's pretend you're working as a farmer. And you work all summer long to get in the harvest, really putting effort in it. And in fall, when you're done and you're trying to sell your harvest, people just take away all of it without paying. What do you call that? Theft!

So if you're never paying to listen to music, you might be a thief!?

  • Sorry that was my brother.

But I sort of agree and sort of don't agree with him.

Like I don't pay for my music but if no one payed then how would bands make any money??

  • That's the point. If everyone only downloads illegally, the artists would go broke.

I personally think downloading, pre-listening and either deleting it, if you don't like it, or buying the album, if you like it, is a way to go. Doing so exactly it's the same going to a record store (there are little in my area) and pre-listening there. As long as you delete unwanted music again.

But can you appreciate what you've downloaded? If you get yourself 10 albums at a time...

  • ...can you even remotely experience the detail in music such as steven wilson's? That's one point he is trying to tell by figuratively shooting an ipod, which he thinks stands for the plethora in downloading tons of songs at a time.

On top of that, as I said before, the artist won't get any money, if people download illegally.

  • Not fans like you anyway.

  • i can see where people are comming from with the whole dont download mp3s stuff but just because you can put mp3s on an ipod does not mean that its the ipods fault, just the same as if a murder stabs someone its not the knifes fault. also i think that people who download just mp3s are downloading music that does not have much meaning IE soulja boy etc. people who download music like porcupine tree will download all of the album and appreciate the music. shooting an ipod just seems like a waste

  • Albums by PT such as in absentia or fear of a blank planet cannot be fully taken in with just single tracks. To get the full meaning of an album or ban u have to listen to the whole thing. This also pissed me off with rockstar by nickelback, everybody loved it and downloaded it but never give any other songs on the album a go.

  • It's Nickelback. None of their songs really deserve a chance IMO.

  • Um, hello? Dumbass? You can do advanced custom options on iTunes to makes the khz at any volume you want.

  • I have to say, the downloading generation is just awful. I agree with Steven Wilson. I hate downloading and Mp3s because what most consumers don't understand is that MP3 formats are compressed audio files. Now compression is kind of hard to distinguish that of 44.1 khz format, which the CD format. I can tell, I actually tested this out and let me tell you, the CD's will always be best. Such ignorant kids in this generation only download singles and never take the time to buy an album.

  • I don't protect downloading. I have done it and it's bad, but I buy CD's quite regularly (1-2/month) now. But you shouldn't talk about ignorance when you yourself state that kids in this generation "only download singles and never take the time to buy an album. " Is there an actual source for this? If so show it to me. MP3-players are kinda practical because believe or not, people want to listen to music elsewhere then their home. And what would happen if everyone carried stereos with them?

  • "And what would happen if everyone carried stereos with them? "

Then the whole world would be a giant frat party... which would suck a whole lot more than a few 9 year olds missing out on a couple of beatles records.

  • lol, am i not allowed to listen to you... with my ipod?

  • I get why he has a distaste for iPods... it started a revolution of just download this song or that song, which for an artist or band like Steven or PT degredates the music. These guys write ALBUMS not singles... and as an artist why would you want to advocate a system that is based around the ability to kill that art. This is why bands like Tool or Steven's new album cant be found on iTunes. Imagine Dark Side of the Moon being digested as a song here or a song there.... rubbish

  • However it's not the fault of the piece of hardware. People were downloading individual songs, making play lists, listening to MP3s _way_ before the iPod.

The iPod makes it so you don't have to carry your entire CD collect and component stereo system everywhere to listen to music. And even if I have an analog record, I can skip tracks :)

It's almost the same mentality of book burning or thinking video games cause school shooting so we have to destroy them. It's the people, not the products.

  • I NEVER Download single songs. An album is like a book, you can't just read one chapter and be done with it. You have to read the whole thing fron start to finish.

  • @arbpotatoes Yeah of cource but what does that have to do with destroying iPods? :S I buy albums too and then I convert them to the computer.

  • @MALSIV

Well, Wilson must believe that it is because of portable music players and digital music distribution such as iTunes store (where buying one song from an album is very easy) that people have stopped listening to whole albums.

  • @arbpotatoes He doesn't believe that, he knows that. Digital media has both hindered and fucked over music. Though I am an iPod user, all of the album art is on every album I have (and they're all complete) and I do listen to the whole album. I try to listen to CDs and Vinyl, FLACs and WAVs whenever humanly possible though.

  • @MALSIV

It was basically portable MP3 players that started it all

  • @arbpotatoes Agreed, you got my thumb up

  • @arbpotatoes unless its shitty rap and pop albums, which is what people use ipods for really..they dont care about albums, they want one song from a band to listen to

  • @arbpotatoes Completely agree. If I start listening to an album, I have to finish it. I much prefer physical copies to digital and that will never change.

  • @arbpotatoes That depends. you could be talking about a whole story or merely a collection of stories and poems in one book.

  • @arbpotatoes its a valid opinion, but albums only work in certain genres for certain people, steve wilson is great at it, but the vast majority of bands don't know how to write albums or sequence them. also a lot of bands don't want to write 'albums' they write stand alone songs and hits. take aerosmith for example, not the type of band i could sit through an album, but gimme living on the edge anyday and i'll be happy. I enjoy music, whether is 1 song or a whole album. its all the same to me.

  • what happens if a band release an album that is essentially 1 6-7 minute song but split it into 7 separate tiny songs. is it and album or 1 song? can you listen to e.p's on an ipod? is that ok? cause its between one album and a single. what if 1 band released only one really good song at a time. is it ok to have an ipod then?

  • @crubutt It doesn't matter how many songs are on an album. A full-length album is roughly between 40-80 minutes. A single is roughly between 15-30 minutes. You can have an ipod whenever you want. We live in an open society after all. The only thing is that when you use an ipod for it's convenience, you compromise the sound quality of vinyl. But so what? Nobody wants to carry a record player wherever they go.

  • he hates the ipod because it's a symbol of the download culture, not the ipod itself.

  • Yeah. Well I love his music, but I disagree with him on the whole "download culture is a bad thing" thing.

  • well the download culture has done nothing but foster a generation of idiot musicians and idiot audiences. The only one who benefits is the record companies because it makes the medium that much simpler to sell their garbage products. Thats not to say there isnt an upside... being able to get your music out to a wider audience without a label, being able to enjoy your music anytime anywhere, etc. But again the download culture is helping to kill music as an art.

  • I don't realy understand his problem with iPods... I'm a passionate about music, and since I have an iPod, I can listen to my musics more easily, where and when I want... IMO, iPod is the friend of musi lovers. Correlation with download is not obvious.

  • Everyone is assuming that these videos show that SW is against MP3 players and downloading music, but really they are just a result of him being a Zune fan.

  • that was the best ive heard all day... nice...

  • I was reluctant to buy an Ipod because I enjoy buying c.d's. I enjoy holding, owning the product and looking at the artwork. I was concerned that downloads would remove c.ds from the market place. I bought an Ipod and transfered my c.ds onto it. I love having my c.d collection with me and being able to listen to whatever I want wherever. I do still buy c.d's and do not download beacause I still belive in owning the physical product.

  • This makes no sense. I have downloaded many of PT album and the insurgentes itself, I listen to it all in my ipod, and I have got one of the 1000 copyes of insurgentes first vinyl edition, plus some original PT cds. The radical posture of Steven makes no sense, mp3 players arent guilty of nothing, they are a good way to enjoy the music. The problem is that most of people underestimates the music, now and ever, having or not an ipod...

  • I'm listening Porcupine Tree on my Ipod shame on me (?)

  • I discovered Porcupine Tree on my Ipod on a train journey... now I bought all the CDs... Steven Wilson should see the advantages of the phenomen because it won't disapear

  • I love steven wilson but i dont really dont get the problem with downloading. Granted it costs them a lot of money but as long as were paying for the concerts (LIVE) i dont see the problem. They put in extra effort in concerts and are there for you so paying makes sence. But for people to pay for something that is already recorded.......i dont see the point.

Anyways I buy their music but I dont know why its such a big deal. But oh well.....as long as the music stays awesome i dont care!!

  • You probably don't see the point in paying for a painting someone put their heart and soul into either, do you?

Whether or not artists do it for the money, generally, they enjoy what they do. They are people just like you and I and they need to make a living too, especially if they're expected to keep producing music!

  • Actually making a painting is different.....you only make a painting once. Its more like paying for a photograph of a painting you get from the internet.

Im just saying this because if it werent for downlaoding and the internet i wouldnt have known about SW. So to me downloading isnt such a bad thing. I mean people download music and if they like it a lot they will go to their concerts and PAY for seeing them live. SW would probably have way less fans if it werent for the internet.

  • Btw porcupine tree is my fave band ever. So please dont think im a hater.

  • Music is art. It's not a lot different at all. Time and hard work goes into the piece of art and then it's sold, or featured in places that you have to PAY to get into. Music is not much different.

You're right there, a lot of bands wouldn't have a lot of the fans that they do without the internet. But that doesn't change the fact that there ARE people who will download and never buy, or people who just download one hit song just to have it without buying the album and put it on their iPod.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a bizarrely ridiculous statement. Do you think it's alright to walk into a Best Buy and steal a handful of his CD's just because you attended to some concert? Do you understand the concept of theft and its relation to intellectual property?

  • Im just saying that downloading is not as bad or a as big a deal as it is made out to be and that bands shouldnt rely only on selling cds for their income. One thing they can definately count on to make money from is concerts.

Most people find out about bands through downloading and i pods. Without them many underground bands would not be known. I bet even PT would not be as famous.

  • Why do you assume an artist should rely on performances? On what basis? Under what observations? Do you think that stealing from record companies, distributors and artists is not a "big deal"? If these "underground bands" or even Porcupine Tree needed the use of free downloads in order to receive attention, don't you think they would've already given their permission to do so? What do you believe is the moral basis for intellectual property rights?

  • People who download music and like it become fans. Some of them will buy the cds. Some wont. The ones that dont will probably stop listening to the band if they 'have' to pay. So in both cases the band isnt making any money out of these people. But these same people go to concerts and the band can make money off that. Thats just what I think. I know you disagree but thats what I think. You may feel like bands lose out but I think that they gain from downloading and i pods.

  • If artists werent making money off performing then they wouldnt do it. There is no way people can attend concerts without paying for them. Due to file sharing and the internet albums are available to people for free. Therefore it is a good strategy to not rely on albums solely for income. Im not saying that downloading is right, Im just saying it isnt such a big deal. In the end it is the bands who make fans when people download their music. And those fans make the band money.

  • How many albums am I allowed to download by attending to one concert? How about two concerts? By what method of reasoning do you set the standard? What if he doesn't show up where I live? What if there are no concerts? Can I still download his entire discography?

  • Also do you actually think that PT and other bands could be where they are today without downloads and i pods?? They only have a huge fan base because of this.

This is getting rather repetitive and boring so I may not reply to your comments anymore. Bye.

  • "I can take away the product of his effort; I can dispose of his life's work; I can make use of the unearned. After all, I went to a concert." Is that O.K.? Is that what you are saying? "He has a huge fan base. They all steal from him, but it doesnt matter, theyre all fans." Is that acceptable? Do you think the end justifies the means? That is a consequence of immoral action.

  • I think you're assuming that he's talking about people who call themselves fans who don't actually own any of their music. Those people are absolute cunts, and the death of the music industry. However I think UglyRats is assuming that most people who hear the music and like it will actually go out and buy the CD. This is how I came to know and love the band, through torrents. We live in a digital fucking age, bands who don't recognise this (without radio saturation) will not survive.

  • actually yeah... they've been around longer far longer than the iPod and had a huge fan base before the iPod. Do you actually think that the creation of the mp3 player is what makes todays bands popular? Because you can buy just one song not the whole album? If anything a band like them is hurt by ipod and itunes because of the fact that people dont have to buy the entire album. Music popularity has nothing to do with the device/median you use to listen.

  • Maybe he doesn't consider it an important Task to learn, how to hold a gun.

He certainly knows how to hold a guitar properly. That's what matter (at least to me).

  • If it weren't for downloading of music, I would have never fallen in love with Porcupine Tree. Downloading let me preview their stuff on my own watch. Of course, right after, I bought every single album out there except for Recordings (impossible to find).

I feel like the people who download music of intelligent artists like Steven Wilson do it respectfully and end up buying CDs in the end. Those who download music simply because they don't want to pay only listen to shitty rap songs anyway.

  • I agree with you completely

  • I agree with you about downloading music to discover it, but what SW means is that in the past people appreciated discovering good music much more and paid more attention listening to it. I have my mp3 player (not an ipod, they're very expensive!) and use it a lot but that's nothing compared to be at home, sit down, put a record on, look at its artwork, touch it, smell it... Many teenagers nowadays don´t know how that feels.

  • I get what you mean -- people would be more inclined to "worship" what they've got when they're always paying, and for something physical, no less. There are still those of us who really support music, though -- I download an album, and after a couple of listens I'll delete it or buy it. If I keep it, it's damn likely I'm going to be examining every line of every song and trying to piece together concepts conveyed by the artist.

  • @epicprogrocker It's not that they DON'T know, it's that they don't WANT to know what it's like.

  • @epicprogrocker very true, by my side, i used to be one of those kids who never listened to music seriously, but now i am 16 years old and i have a very big collection of all the music that i really like

  • @epicprogrocker my sentiments exactly well stated peace :)

  • @epicprogrocker That's BS, Ipods are one of the greatest things to happen to music, along with download culture and the internet. The majority of people didn't appreciate music fully, even if they have a physical copy. They would've just gotten something that they heard on the radio, or had a nice album cover or all of their friends were listening to and generally wouldn't take the risk to try something new. Now, you can still buy records, and I do, but you can make informed decision on that.

  • @epicprogrocker i dont give a fuck how my record feels or smells.

  • @epicprogrocker i dont give a fuck how my record feels or smells.

  • @epicprogrocker In this case, "many" is not enough to describe.

  • ha!, I have almost all the CD albums from Porcupine Tree (not very easy to find them here in Mexico), and I also have my iPod touch (oops).

But, one thing for sure is that I will be always buying the whole cd booklet, no matter the musician, I just buy it. The work of musicians-songwriters-producers-composers really worth it.

  • este wn ta ma loco xD

= el insurgentes es la raja

  • I AGREE 100%... What ever happened to buying the fucking music instead of stealing it? Buying an album and all it's artwork, and supporting the band you buy the album from? Now everyone wants to download shit, steal it, and have it in their IPOD players. I can highly doubt 90% of the shit people have on their ipods even was bought by them people. At least buy the cd and sell it, that way the musician makes a profit, you make the profit, and you get the music to.Downloading is killing the industry.

  • I can't say that I like this kind of agruments, but you insist so much on how much music people have in their ipods... Do you think anyone with normal paychecks could ever afford this much music ?

I totally agree that one who cannot afford something shouldn't get it. But if one isn't gonna buy an album anyway, there is absolutely no loss for the artist. In the end, the one thing that justifies not downloading a music you're not gonna buy (whatever the reason) is fairness/morality.

    Just saying...

  • nothing like the insurgentes.

  • You know, I love Steven Wilson and all of his work, but I really can't agree with him on the whole iPod thing.... ^^; There is the option to shuffle Albums, not songs, you know.

Anyway, thanks for giving us another peek at the upcoming documentary. I'm really loving the Insurgentes "preview" mp3's from KScope (awesome idea, btw, you guys)!!

  • Lovely, I wish I had one so I can do the same...

  • can't wait to see the full film

  • What is this song called? Sounds fucking great!

  • significant other

  • i cant wait for my copy to arrive! :)

  • it still hasn't??

  • i didnt manage to get a deluxe edition, so i just ordered a normal version =/

but i think it would be better if the deluxe editions were less limited - i dont get the point why not everybody who wants to have one has the opportunity to get it...

  • the problem is that many people bought the album and sold it on ebay for...triple the price or wtv..

  • thats sad - i thought porcupine tree/steven wilson/... fans would be nice people ;)

  • it is sad ..and those people were probably not fans lol

I think Steven even thought about the possibility of reprinting the special edition (he posted a comment about it on his myspace a while ago)

but I guess he decided not to do it..but they tried to "fight" those who were selling on ebay by selling a few more copies there and donating the money to charity

  • not that im disagreeing but what would you consider someone who downloads and listens to it but when they get money they actually buy the CD

  • hmm I do that..and I don't see where's the problem but ordering a limited edition album (when many other people are trying to get it) just so you can sell it and make money with it ..that sucks

  • alright i understand what youre saying then

  • That is cool to download as long as the artist gets the cash in the end somehow.Everything I downloaded in the past I bought or already bought.Like lets say if some cds get stolen from your car or some shit then if you bought them cds already that artist already made cash off of you so downloading is okay in my eyes then. But if you are like some people raping artists and downloading shit loads of material then the artist is being ripped off and it isn't right to me.The artist deserves the cash.

  • .......... :)

  • ahhh... alluring

  • Haha for some reason I am extremely amused that SW is going shooting.

  • Nice shot! You wouldn't find a better shooting target if you tried.
