@austinblake55 Every note or chord is 'broadcasted' in a certain frequency that makes it sound so unique when it reaches the ear and agitates our drum. He has selected and filled the glasses in such a way, that each one leaves a sound that matches a certain note frequency when 'tingled'. Much like a church bell (hit -> material oscillation -> noise).

He has memorised which is which, practised a lot and effectively played the notes of Tchaikowsky in order, -with- the glasses.

@austinblake55 And in addition, the faster / shorter the glass / oscillation, the sharper / higher the pitch. The heavier / larger the sound wave length from bigger bells or glasses, the lower the pitch ^^.

Check how he hits the small glasses when the notes are high.

Don't listen to austinblake55, he's wrong. Its called resonance. Each cup is filled differently and has different size, which in return has a different resonance. Those different resonances then create different sounds from vibrations from the fingers

@electromoo If you put water on the tips of your fingers and rub the rim of a wine glass, it starts to vibrate. These vibrations create the sound waves. Putting different amounts of water in the glasses can change their pitch. It's fun to do with the water glasses at fancy restaurants. The pitch gets lower as the night goes on.
