  • I can't watch this. The constant gesticulation is REALLY annoying and patronising. Politicians are taught to use these same movements during speaking engagements; palms open to convey "honesty" and then knuckles outwards to convey power/alpha male status. Tony Blair was a prime example in total overkill of the technique such that it is clearly unnatural, phoney and manipulative. This kid trumps Blair. Which idiot told him to do this? Even italians don't gesticulate this much. Its truly horrible.

  • Adults also like bright shiny things. Fucking mugs we are.

  • Power to the new generation! I will be showing this to my son.

  • monsanto is all about money, not helping people. Their gm vegetables are STERILE, effectively cutting off farmers from making a profit. If you have to continually buy seed every year, it cuts profit to keep the farm running. not to mention that the gm foods are supposed to be both better for the environment and more resistant to drought and bugs, neither of which is true.

  • wow...that kid is somethin' else. See...not American children are ignorant, but he IS home-schooled.....

  • All you people saying this kid is brainwashed, his main point is concerning GMO. GMO food source do not have any long term research to back up their safety for eating. You people need to do some research of your own before commenting on this kid. Maybe you are the ones who are brainwashed. He talks nothing but truths, who cares if his parents helped him out (apparently they did not and I can fully believe this, kids today are much smarter than given credit for.)

  • @omegalkahest there is no long term research to back up medicines that people take either. If you could point me in the right direction to find any evidence that supports the claim that GMO's have harmed people from a good source(hopefully you can discern between the two) I would love to read it. PS I am for all forms of agriculture and intelligent debate about food safety not wild claims. If you feel this kid is right on the money then I recomend you rethink your own bias

  • @omegalkahest Because the fact that everyone in America did not drop dead in the last 5 years gives me a pretty solid reason to believe that GMO's are safe. If you wanted to argue the ecological bennefits of the BMP's associated with organic agriculture that I could respect. but GMO is like the organic communities version of george bush's WMD's. you can talk about it all day but its just a wild claim at this point

  • Obviously a brainwashed kid whose parents are liberal tree huggers who have no clue about where their food comes from. Who ever was working the teleprompter was a little slow. I wonder how much PETA paid this family to make a fool of this young kid........

  • This is my son. He first started asking questions when he was 8 after he saw a post online (over my shoulder) about mercury in HFCS. From there he did his own research and changed our family's conventional supermarket eating habits to local, organic, sustainable. He wrote this talk on his own and he said, "How can I tell what's wrong and what's right all in 5 minutes? Our kid had the freedom to think and learn for himself and I think he did a fine job - not brainwashed or a puppet for anyone!

  • @5BearsGoUSA A fine job for an 11 year old writing a propoganda speech based upon biased research and statements. This speech just fuels the fire between conventional and organic agriculture(both of which I have experience in studying and working for with my ag science major, minor in natural resource conservation and a second in animal science) he sounds like he is spitting out what he learned from food inc.

  • @5BearsGoUSA ... Great job parents! What an amazing child!

This link is being forwarded to my daughters who brought much of this information to my attention a couple years ago.

  • @5BearsGoUSA ok then Hey Mom or Dad will you please forward me the research article about the rats that ate GMO corn and had reduced kidney function. I would like to verify that it is a reliable source not a .com or sponsored by a company that had a vested interest in having certain data result from the study.

  • Brother!! A child after my own Heart. Great job, Mom & Dad, letting your child speak his Truth. Children are born into a consciousness higher than their parents. The children shall lead the way.

  • so sad to see ppl think like this he should try farming for a bit we the farmers cant just destroy everything it is our lively hood i wish ppl would come out to the real world befor they open there mouth and as far as organic farmers like in the pictures they are either retired or have another job to support there hobby or he will be broke shortly!!!!

  • Anyone agreeing with this needs to go hungry, or jump off a cliff. Either way, you are not needed.

  • Dance meat puppet. Dance.

  • Kids are actually pretty smart. So while they may have helped with the speech, I doubt they wrote it for him.

    good job kid!

  • How long did it take his parents to write all this down so he could memorize it? He probably doesn't even know about anything he was talking about. These people need to get out and actually visit a farm and see for themselves instead of like he said reading in books and the internet. He doesn't realize what all else comes from the farm other than just the food he doesn't like. Take it all away and then report back.

  • an inspiration to us all.

  • Look at their crap excuse for their agent orange production from their website: "By way of background, the U.S. military used Agent Orange from 1961 to 1971 to save the lives of U.S. and allied soldiers by defoliating dense vegetation in the Vietnamese jungles and therefore reducing the chances of ambush."

What they fail to tell you is that nearly 40,000 US TROOPS have received claims against the government for the effects of agent orange on their health. Monsanto is EVIL.

  • I am a licensed applicator of restricted use pesticides. I am one year away from having my degree in Agronomy with two minors, in natural resource conservation and Animal science. I have worked at organic farms, and conventional. I run my own organic CSA and this kid is a joke to me. He is full of unsupported claims that give organic farmers a bad name while he contributes to the un-needed controversy.

  • @johnnyboy922 Explain further please.

  • @alyncurtis about what specifically? I have spent many years now learning the real facts about all facets of agriculture that this kid thinks he can talk about.

  • @johnnyboy922 I can see your where you are coming from, but as you sound like you are pro organic how can you be so disapproving of his point? Fair enough, he should have kept it objective and made sure the claims he made could be substantiated. I do think, as a Ted presentation, his speech should have been checked over by an adult and edited for it to stand up to such fair criticism but his main point stands valid. You can not deny there are people in this world that are doing incredible

  • @alyncurtis things with our heritage, which is this planet, and everything nature has to offer. I'm not anti science, that would be absurd, but I also think playing god and messing about with genetics is a dangerous avenue to go down considering this is FOOD we are talking about. I was always taught that 'you are what you eat' and I am a gardener myself. GM concerns me. The human race is effectively being used as guinea pigs for GM, not to mention what GM has done to many farmers livelihoods.

  • @alyncurtis I am for both methods of production, both have their place in the market. GMOs have not killed anyone as far as I know. Humans are used as guinea pigs for every single product ever made. I'm anti stupidity and even though this kid gave a fantasic speech and was very articulate which is a great skill at his age... he was allowed to give a speech that had absolute crap for content to support the wild claims he made. It makes the organic community look crazy and normal farmers mad.

  • I think people like that need to go a month without eating/buying anything grown by a FARMER!! Come back in a month and tell us how it goes!!

  • If this poorly informed child has his way we will all starve to death!

  • That kid is simply regurgitating stuff fed to him by some whacko adult. You can tell because of the way he moves his hands to help him get into a rhythm and remember his lines, which he stumbles over a few times. Most of what he said simply is NOT true. There are no tomotos with fish DNA inserted. That's a fact.

  • @NDIrish32 you need to do some research before you spout off because you're wrong.

  • @NDIrish32 as much right u are with your statement, u also wield some wrong... they DO in fact have tomato crossed with fish DNA.... it actually gives the tomatoes a longer shelf life. other then that i agree with u

  • This country needs to go hungary. I guarantee 99% of you that post have never been on a farm or have any idea what farming is all about. Starvation will cure alot of stupidity.

  • An actor and a script, nothing more, Although he is a great speaker. Coming from an agricultural field I know for fact that over 80% of that info is false. People need to get their head out of the clouds and look at both ends of the story before making an opinion.

BTW, after working in the organic foods business during my internships I will never eat organic vegetables or meat again.

  • @Agricon100 why not?

  • He knows everything he's "home schooled".

  • Looks like TED has jumped the shark.

  • He likes eating kale chips. Wow. I believe everything he says now. I'll bet he still drinks Kool-Aid though.

And Tony the Tiger is the product of reanimation experiments, who now works in a lab. What a wonderful expose of the truth.

  • Birke here is a brash young man who hasn't been taught about history, and why people try to find better, more efficient ways of feeding the world than what was practiced a century ago or more. When he does some actual studying and presents some objective reality, maybe I'll take him seriously.

If it floats your boat to buy "organic," then have at it, but you're really not doing anyone any favors. *No* I do not work for Monsanto, nor do I own stock in Monsanto.

  • To all the naysayers, grow up, haha.

  • How can you agree with what this kid is saying! He has been given a script from his parents and he memorized it. And what do you all know about farmers applying fertilizer, and hog farms, and cattle farms. Those agreeing with what he is saying, Do you know about what really goes on in a farm operation. Large or small!

  • @hgaawh8658 Good points. The people who have a problem with corporate farms either have a financial interest in farming themselves, or are simply paranoid. This kid offers no real evidence of anything -- just some opinions and funny photoshops (e.g., the fish-tomato picture --> note to everyone: GMOs *don't* come out looking like that).

But some people will believe anything as long as it's delivered by an outspoken person, like this kid.

  • @hgaawh8658 "We can pay the farmer, or we can pay the hospital."

Yeeeeeaaah, 'cause *nobody* went to hospitals, got sick, or died before the advent of GMOs and corporate farms. This kid's parents should be ashamed of themselves for failing to teach him sound debate skills at home. What do you want to bet they *are* farmers, and are just feeling a little pressure from their competitors?

  • @pharmachemist -"We can pay the farmer, or we can pay the hospital."

That was a BRILLIANT thing to say, and sadly, you missed the point ENTIRELY. But...given your screenname, it's my guess that 'missing the point' is not an accident, rather agenda- or ideology-based. *sigh* Good luck with that. Maybe you should apply for a job...at Monsanto. I think they'll like you.

  • @riodv I didn't "miss the point." Did you miss my response to his point? If you'd read all of what I posted, you'd have noticed that I, unlike others, acknowledge that people get sick, regardless of where their food comes from. FACT is, we're living longer and healthier than ever. At worst, the GMOs don't seem to be hurting us.

I am sure Monsanto isn't perfect, but I believe they are less dependent on propaganda and mistruths to sell their products than the organic movement is.

  • @riodv And yeah, I have an education, which is something this kid cannot say. My opinions are not based on an agenda or ideology, but an understanding of the science and principles behind the GMO concept that go WELL beyond the hyperbole and rhetoric that is regurgitated here and elsewhere, by those who have their own agenda and ideology.

  • YAHH protect this child! YAHH cover him with mighty warring messengers and TEACH HIM Torah!

  • WOW, this just blew my mind, mostly because that kid is smarter than most adults i know! thats right little guy get out there and spread your message. you CAN make a difference!

  • @pheonixflame31 his parents fed him all of this

  • @johnnyboy922 Straight up truth.

  • This kid is awesome and his message correct..but pardon my need to Question EVERYTHING as I find myself wondering if he actually wrote the script or was it written for him? My reason for asking this is the same concern i have for kids who are used by adults as pawns in politics. I myself was a child preacher at one time and over time I realized that much of what I was taught to teach was not my own words but those of them who taught me. I hope this child really DOES know this and wrote it.

  • @bhstone1 the difference with cell mutation that Mons does is pierce the cell wall not selective breeding or lime treatments . Monsanto uses tumors and viruses to insert DNA of other non-plant animals into plant cells. That would be like, the difference is our ancestors doing astronomy by gazing at the stars vs going to the moon.

  • I was guessing he was home schooled before he said it.

  • I hear what the kid is saying, but farmers have been genetically manipulating food for centuries. I know that Monsanto is doing this in the lab vs the field but it's the same in the end result.

  • "i discovered the dark side"

I envy this young man for being brave enough to find the truth himself and not being deterred.

  • Lol, guys I don't think they're laughing AT him, they're laughing WITH him. They're laughing because he's precocious and spot on...they're laughing because they weren't expecting an 11 year old to talk about Confined Animal Feeding Operations or to so clearly identify what's wrong with our food system. They're definitely laughing in a good way. Can't you tell by the huge applause at the end...???

  • @ArhatEves you are so right. they are definitely not laughing at him. they are laughing in surprise at how smart and inspiring this kid really is.

  • Sometimes, we forget that kids can make as big a difference on our planet as adults do. This kid sure does remind us the power of children. What a brave boy!!

  • love 3:52

  • Thank YOU for speaking the TRUTH for us and for your future

  • Well done, that boy!

(R)evolution - is simply keeping peaceful evolution in mind.

  • What an amazing child. Reinstills my faith in the human race.

  • @schmittymg Agreed!

  • I love Asheville.

  • I have been telling people about this for years but no one took me seriously.

Apparently they had been adding their newest sweetener/additive to poultry feed, it makes them incredibly hungry. So who is responsible to investigate what has been allowed into the food chain and who of those who have clout or government or responsible have financially benefitted by allowing companies to sidestep regulations. Is this a new way of reducing the population while poisoning the earth? Shame on you !

  • He needs to run for president! Bravo!!!!

  • This kid is full of truth and dedication. He stand up for the truth, reguardless of what people think. Thats something that alot more adults need to do. I will be making a difference by growing my own food, and sharing or bartering with others in the community who want organic food. This kid has alot of my respect. To all you haters, let me ask you this. What have you done to make things better? Let me guess, sit on the couch watching footbal and drinking beer?

  • i agree with what this kid is saying, but unfortunately he was born with one of those faces that you just want to punch. i feel weird my emotions are being pulled in polar opposite directions. i fucking can't stand this kid... but he's right..... ugh

  • @queerp strangely i feel exactly the same way ...

  • and a child shall lead them...

  • When child's talking - only the simple truth!

    Hear their words!

They are clean in their souls!

  • key words he is home schooled tells ya something

  • @clone1eighty7 so true but there r a few of out there educating children about the perils of what they put in their mouth! The education is system is slow to catch up with us but it is finally happening.

  • We need to show this guy the feedback on youtube, let him know that we take him seriously at least.

  • Welcome back John Lennon;)

  • Home schooling can be great when done right! Kudos to his parents for educating this boy. Bravo, excellent presentation, whether or not the information is completely accurate or not. Yaay, Burt!

  • @TheDoggieroadrunner idiot it is right you sound like a typical American more interested in the presentation than the CONTENT

  • Wow. Amazing!

  • If only he had actually mentioned monsanto

  • I get the big picture, but a lot of this information is inaccurate.

  • @helenatorr Do you have proof of that? Your argument doesnt really stand unless you can prove otherwise.

  • What an amazing kid, although I hesitate to call him a kid he's more mature not to mention intelligent than most adults I know. Two thumbs up!

  • @Rainwhisper1326 uhh sure, he has one amazing memory. i mean, kids these days... when grown ups force them to say something sophisticated because they think its "cute", the kid usually forgets what they were sappose to say. lets be realistic.... he understands VERY little about what is being discussed here so lets not get carried away

  • I hope everyone actually thinks about this...

  • money

  • alex jones son

  • good for you kid!! you finally got your cookie, now stfu.. lol jk, nut nice speach, shouldve been done my and older teen with exp. but thumbs up

  • this is a wise kids

  • @BlazinSkull209 kid*

  • @johndoe7033 loool thanks for the autocorrent :)

  • OMG NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT...KID GETS MY VOTE FOR PRESIDENT

  • @straydogdad09 lol agreed

  • MY PAGE...KILLUMANT TRACK!!!..ARE YOU WITH ME?..DONT IGNORE ME LOOK WHERE I FOUND YOU

  • Home schooling clearly beats coorperate system schooling.

  • the fact tht their laughing......means their not listening...smfh

  • I really hate to say it cause it's never going to happen, but our only solution in reality is to take back our land and grow our own food. This is the ONLY way we can avoid the catastrophic effects of mass production.

  • The next generation of leaders has arrived! 11 years of age! Wow!

  • We are not all stupid..just the majority unfortunately...and that makes it hard for the ones of us that are aware because they are sooo deaf dumb and blind that it is literally impossible to get them to hear and understand..they just don't care and think we are crazy

  • I got Huge Respect for This Kid

  • Brave kid.

  • The boy's got more sense than Michelle Obama!

  • Birke you are an amazing kid. I thank you for taking the time to research and prepare for this A++ presentation. Keep up the good work. you will get somewhere.

  • I'n Holland it is Illigal to use These kind of vergetable's.

Unisted states just have to many stupid people i gues, Fight for your right to live healthy.

  • @Wazztheweasel See the article: The Obesity Myth: Can Donald Trump Force Michelle Obama to Disclose Her True BMI?

  • @Wazztheweasel You're absolutely right. I didn't imagine how stupid American were... until I moved here. It's scary.

  • @jessicakrannich & their ignorance = highest cancer rates.

  • This kid is amazing. Talks so well for such a young age.

  • I think he has been 'tutored' with this speech, but either way its very well done and completely true.

Most adults arent even aware of this.

  • Fantastic, home schooled..

  • this is just gay. i dont care

  • 2:05 I winder if that audience realizes that Confined Animal Farm Operation CAFO was Not a laugh line...?

  • WTF, people laughing? Dumbassess...

  • Comment removed

  • @123norway They're not laughing at him, they are laughing at the subtle hint of humor he is expressing while speaking the truth.

  • @123norway Same. I guess they don't fully understand the magnitude of this subject.

  • @123norway nothing funny about the reality of food, what a ridiculous audience???

  • @123norway Gosh right~ were they REALLLLLY listening to this? It is NOT funny or a joke

  • @daberg70 Do you have a concise source for that information about Borlaug? I'd like to know more about this. I know he hybridised wheat for higher yield but I'm not clear on how he did so with "every commodity crop". And are you suggesting that he's done this world wide? Because in England we have many small farm crops that use 'heritage seeds', never mass produced for the wider market. I'm interested in the complete picture.

  • That's a home-school kid right there.

  • A good example of what is possible, and in fact, natural.

  • we need modified food and chemical fertilizers to sustain the population of the world. so please point at the 2 billion people that you would like to die.

  • You know what? You are all MORONS! I went easy on this video because I respect everyone's opinion, but I don't give a flying bleep who thinks they know what the truth is or not. This whole production is propaganda! Just the fact that WHOEVER got this 11 year old kid to do this speech is propaganda! At 11 years old, he is regurgitating what he has been told. PERIOD! at 11 years old he has NOT seen the world. This is NOT an 11 year old production. I don't care if you agree. I'm still right

  • Awesome!!!

  • The only way to stop Monsanto is to 'end the drug war'. Der. When you figure it out, told you so.

  • If we continue to let Monsanto patent life & genetically morph living organisms, it may not be long before we no longer know what it is to be "'Human".

    ---

Speak out now for strict regulations for genetic engineering, before it's too late. Watch "The World According to Monsanto".

    ----

"All that needs to be done for evil to prevail is that good men do nothing ..."

  • tie up his hands and he wouldn't be able to talk! not that what he's talking about isn't true but i can't watch anymore cause of the way he's so rehearsed and sounds like it.

  • This is great! I wish more grown up had this sort of mindset.

  • This kid is totally AWESOME!

  • Totally rehearsed, dialogue sounds like a school play... I do agree with what he's saying, and I hope he is sincere, but this is totally and obviously a rehearsed and memorized speech and sprinkled with propaganda...

  • @daberg70 You say it's "totally rehearsed" - Do you really expect ANY person to make a speech on stage for 5 minutes WITHOUT rehearsing? Of course it's rehearsed! You wouldn't go up on stage without knowing what to say, it would just be unprofessional.

"Sprinkled with propaganda"? Like what, exactly? That organic is good for you? That's just common sense.

  • @daberg70 FIVE minutes is a long time to talk non stop. Truth is propaganda?

  • @daberg70 it's a TED talk - do you know anything about TED talks? Of course it's rehearsed. You're missing the point entirely.

  • Thank you, great speech!

  • Totally brilliant and inspiring, thanks Birke! Shared.

  • 9 people were unhappy to find out 11yearold is cleverer than they are

  • @zuklonbe more clever*

  • @clepore you can use both :-) but tHX US likes more the"more clever"...bye

  • @zuklonbe lol i know its just sad.

  • We can either pay the farmer or we can pay the hospital...

  • BRAVO!!! Smart Kid!!!

  • I've long said that the youth will be the ones to save us. Now you know why they keep wanting to increase vaccines to dumb us down even more.

  • Wow, I love it! What a constuctive passion he has! I would like to ask all the people who don't believe him, have you researched into this topic yourselves?

  • This a proof that a little bit of knowledge in the wrong hand is dangerous. NOTHING is organic, it's all been modified. Besides the real problem is the government of production of just 5 crops soybeans, corn, rice, wheat, and sugar in the US. So how about being really brave and regress to a state of modernity equal to how people living in 1750? Then you won't have to worry about any of the abuses to farming that you're so upset with now.

  • @jnm0319 you're right. a LITTLE BIT of knowledge in the wrong hand is dangerous. because you are living proof of that. how is nothing organic?!? and if so, how would that have come about?!? organic is very much real and available. it has not all been modified by viruses and bacteria to alter the genetic structure... that, jnm, is GMO. GMO is not natural breeding. GMO is nothing that is found in nature... besides cancer and other illnesses. you should research a bit further.

  • @sonjaspinarski And now you've just demonstrated how little you know. ALL of the foods including corn, apples, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, and so forth we eat today have in some way shape or form's been modified. Starting back in the '60's Norman Borlaug participated in research that unwittingly filtered into the food chain via unintentional cross-pollination influencing every commodity crop today. So unless you are using seeds from the '40's I don't want to hear about "organic" foods.

  • too programmed, I am hip to things, but this is a stream of program, sorry.

  • Europian propaganda-Parents words to a child!

  • @src438 Another grouchy pessimist that likes to shit talk cuz he has a shitty life and low self esteem....sucks to be you.

  • It sounds like this boy has been fed this information and will he have a rude awakening when he grows up.

  • @badboysbailbonds When he wakes up and realizes that children aren't attracted to bright colors and toys? That all the seed stock is engineered to be sterile? That corn is in 99% of the food that makes it to the consumer? And that it's all GM? That we over use pesticides? That a diet high in fat, salt and sugar is bad for you?

  • @badboysbailbonds Wow you're dumb lol!

  • I think you ALL missed the point: those of you who went off on a tangent saying organic farming is much more costly, can't feed the world as do GMFs, or is no different from the genetically modified foods we are fed - you're all as dumb as they come. (for lack of an equally acceptable, more aggressive word...)

Oh wait, that's right, you've been corporately brainwashed to think that everything is just fine & dandy. Out of sight, out of mind? It doesn't work that way...

    If you knew ANYTHING abo

  • @stevjovan child exploitation? um, seems like his parents are raising him to be community oriented, invested and dedicated to being a contributing member of society. maybe he's being raised with patriotism (care, concern & support for his nation) and part of patriotism is activism... so, there's no real reason to question the motive when the evidence of his presentation clearly reveals exactly what is occurring.

  • pay the farmer or pay the hospital, yahoo!

  • This 11 year old boy has got it all together. He speaks with courage, intellect and conviction and passion. He proves to the world that change begins with us and we can make a difference. I am truly inspired!!

  • well im a starseed, and 20 yrs old i have a need to find out the truth and i know what hes saying but one thing that is not completly accurate is that, organic food is not much of a help either, they are still porcessed and grown in places like monsanto. organic food is much more expensive, and lack key essential nutrients in our diet. id say it really doesnt matter what side you choose it all the same side, its about picking the right kind of food that benefits the body positivly,

  • Bravo!!!

  • This Kid is more intelligent than 95% of all the peoples i know xD

    Hope he'll survive ^^

  • @SterrUwe12345 he ISN'T "more" intelligent. he is younger and less influenced and conditioned by the world. his parents are more responsible in raising him.

  • this kid has got illuminati written all over his face

  • It's nice to see the world of a child has been turned around by the thought of being killed by our government, it's bad that the audience laughs about the truth, like they really know whats going on. A sane person living in an insane world will look insane!

  • grow your own, don't ingest dead flesh.

    True crystal children are vegetarian/vegan/rawfoodist

“Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” --Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.).

  • @AwakenedSword "True crystal children..." -- firstly, WTF sort of label is that? Also you are completely wrong about vegetarian / veganism.
