  • @poiuy110693 banjo, banjo is way easier!

  • I really enjoy this video, and love your style(s) and approach. Just a small thing: Rock and Roll differs from Rock in that the former has a triplet or swing feel. The term is used pretty loosely these days, so I guess it's acceptable in common usage. Nice to remember our music history tho' eh? Good luck with your CD I will check it out. You rock !! ( and roll )

  • truly amazing

  • he made that rock part seem like technical metal O_o

  • You sound like Willie Nelson !! :o

  • 110% free? Where's my money? Love bluegrass by the way.

  • lol im gunna buy one i play gtar it shouldent be that hard

  • @jazza279 good luck with the banjo, but it's a lot harder than it looks. I play banjo and guitar and banjo is far harder. You have to worry about the rolls you do with your picking hand, which makes it difficult.

  • @jazza279 its alot harder then you think, only 5 strings instead of 6, chord progression is different, timing is different, tuned differently, and most everything played on a banjo is picking, and with those strings, you want finger guard picks.

  • @jazza279 It's just a tad harder than spelling correctly. Good luck.

  • fuk mee...3;10 onwards i thought it was george benson.....lol...... but seriously...very good

  • If you think he is good.you guys should look up Bela Fleck. He is ten times better!!

  • That is the greatest banjo playing I have ever heard, personally.

  • horrible voice

  • @clondan1 stfu

  • Moose Dude I really like your pickin but you talk to dam much.Keep up the posting tho I get lots of ideas from your stuff

  • @MrLongtimegone This is an extract from a website aimed to teach people banjo. How can he teach people if he doesn't talk.

  • der hatts voll rauf muss ich sagen

  • Great Playing, I like This Style Of Playing !

  • does anyone know what happened to the moose...I haven't been able to get on the web site for months now. any help would be appreciated.

  • i think hes wearing the strap rong

  • no, a lot of banjo players wear it that way.

  • if it keeps the instrument in your hands, youre wearing it correctly

  • I think you spelt 'rong', wrong.

If in doubt, use a 'w'.

  • Everybody has their own preference, one shoulder or two. There's no right or wrong, it's what ever is comfortable for you.

  • how much does a banjo cost?i love how it sounds

  • costs about 100 to 2500 euros, must be the same in dollars. it's the same like guitars or basses, the more you spend the more quality you will get.

  • thanks 4 the help, i hope i find one in the musics stores here in Portugal then.ty

  • wow, banjos can range from a few hundred to a few thousand .. depends wat kind plectrum, tenor, or 5string like his.. but the brand is a huge factor too

  • your my hero

  • awsome!!! god well!!

  • i want to learn should i learn guitar first? or go staight to the banjo>?

  • Well it depends on what you want to play. Learn what you will want to play for years to come. The banjo is easier to learn but is harder to master than the guitar. The guitar has a broader music selection, but the banjo is just fun. Hope this helps.

  • banjo. as a guitar player who learned banjo 6 years after i picked up the guitar, banjo has been a very hard transition for me. because of the picking. the fingering is no problem for me, but when it comes to correct picking its a real pain in the ass.

  • I personally LOVE, guitar but i think banjo would b interestiing for like dropkick murphy/flogging moll celtic punk style so id like to learn to play, ive only been playing guitar for 2 years but im really into it

  • That's not a tick jackass! Just facial expression...

  • Hi! Sweet music. What tuning are you using in this video? Just trying to satisfy my own curiosity. Thanks!

  • make fun of the man? hes jammin! dont mess with a man when hes jammin

  • nice one is the banjo similar to the guitar by playin?

  • Man I didn't think it was possible to skat on a banjo...I learned something today. Good work!

  • Gotta comment again, the video just got to the jazz piece, I've never heard anyone play jazz like that on a banjo. That is WAAAAAY cool!

  • listen to bela fleck, noam pickelny, scott vestal, matt menefee.......

  • Awsome, I wish I could hear this with a better sound quality. What make of banjo is that????

  • this is a nechville banjo out of michigan or minnesota i beleive.

  • Yes.. As far as I can tell the banjo is a Nechville Nextar model. Nechville banjos are AMAZING in tone and quality and they are the most high tech and innovative banjo designers in the world! I currently own two of them and I'm considering getting one more.. haha.. Tom Nechville and the rest of the crew are a great bunch of folks and the customer service, like their products, is second to none! Pick on Y'all!

  • WOW

  • You're excellent at the banjo!

I don't know how to play, but I really just love the sound of the Banjo. Your voice also seemed to fit your selections very well :).

  • i can agree on that the banjo sound and feel is great but its heritage`? that it was made by enslaved africans and then taken away to rich south american pricks? good heritage (both strings and the leather drum as many knows, comes from africa, hint hint evolution)

  • your really good. i want to get my first one at the end of the school year. i dont know why i just love the banjo lol

  • O lve the banjo too, its my all time favorite! I'm not sure there is ONE specific thing about the banjo, there are many. The sound, the heritage, and just how untapped it is. You can play anything on it, but who does? The creative possiblities are endless.

Good to meet another fan of the banjo! :)

  • there u go mate 50,000 ur realy good

  • man that was great. id love it if you just made like i ten minute vid of you just playin blue grass, if you do somthin like that pm me plaese. great vid!

  • what's the song?

  • could you explain to me how to tune a banjo, i have no clue.

  • You can buy a chromatic guitar tuner and tune the banjo (if it is 5 string) DBGDG

  • this guy is hilarious lol

  • i think he is a lilitle creepy

    no offences

  • this guy scares me............

  • i want to learn to play banjo.. but do i need to play the guitar first to be good at playing the banjo?

  • I wouldnt think so

  • No not really. It would be helpful if you played another stringed instrument so your finger would have some calluses build up already and have some knowledge of chords, rhythm, etc.

But its not necessary. I reccomend getting the "Earl Scruggs And The Five String Banjo" book, It'll teach you alot of great stuff to get you started. Good luck!

  • ty i got my banjo and i can play cripple creek, foggy mnt. breakdown, and blackberry blossom.. not very fast but a little =D

  • Great, glad to hear it. Keep up and I'm sure you'll do good!

  • Good job. Are you from czech republic?

  • You played so good. And he is from Czech republic

  • He's from Pennsylvania.

  • That dude looks troubled lol

  • Wow... I've been playing acoustic guitar for about 6 years and now I want a banjo!

  • I used to work with Sue Cunnigham and I love Bluegrass music. Used to listen to a band at Pittstown Inn called Devil's Dream and went to the Appilachian Mountain bluegrass festivals. Banjo, Fiddle and Cement Tub Bass players used to come out at 1:00 am. I am about to buy a banjo. Is there someway I can contact you to get some tips on what to buy

  • great video. did you know my best friend takes mandolin lessons from billy gilmore?

  • hey, i'm really amazed by the blanjo, so do you hit open strings while playing on a dif string?

  • man you are awesome. i really want to learn how to play the banjo. i'm already pretty good at the guitar, would the banjo be that much harder to learn?

  • )O( U Rock Bro!

  • Zen and the art of moose banjo in action..i'll have what he's on :)

  • the head on the banjo is really weird, looks like it has been broke in half and the keys added onto where it was broke

  • i enjoyed the scatting. the bluegrass as well.

  • Hi Great playing I want to learn the banjo . Which make and model would you suggest for a begining player that isn't to expencive but still give a great tone and ring.

    Best Wishes Nick

  • Boy THA MOOSE is...well lol nevermind

  • Give me some more "down the road"I like the way you do it ace!

  • Who is the manufacturer of your banjo? Has a nice tone when you play near the neck and rim area.

  • Dave,

You're awesome. In my banjo playin days, that's what I aspired to...right hand just got tired.

  • This comment ain't spam!

  • I like the different techniques. I love the blues.

  • youve got a damn nice banjo man, love the classy inlay. man dont you think that blues banjo would have really started with gus cannon and his like in the memphis jug bands etc. u are an excellent player, id love to be able to play a few of those songs, only the bluegrass one is kind of in the realm of me learning though.

  • was gus a relative of ace cannon?

  • Sweet I always wanted to learn the banjo! Thanks guys..

  • Very enjoyable... it's great to see such a range of technique. Thanks for doing this series.... it'll be appreciated by many YouTubers, I'm sure.
