I usually don't like when people sing in videos but he was actually pretty good, I didn't even know that you could play jazz on banjo so good job. I will have to pay a visit to your site. Thank you!
I really enjoy this video, and love your style(s) and approach. Just a small thing: Rock and Roll differs from Rock in that the former has a triplet or swing feel. The term is used pretty loosely these days, so I guess it's acceptable in common usage. Nice to remember our music history tho' eh? Good luck with your CD I will check it out. You rock !! ( and roll )
@TylerThrashPeace Great to hear from someone with a good heart, i see you have some alex jones videos on your channel...its empowering to see others with discernment and eyes open...keep up the good work man>>thanks
@tbirdlauderdale yeah Alex Jones man he tells the truth! if anyone whats a new truthful news source go to "Infowars.com". he does the things no one would dare to do. the road less travelled by. that was a poem back in the late 1700 about the founding fathers of the US. Alex jones is taking that route like they did. glad to see you doing what your doing too tbirdlauderdale, this will all change the world one day, i know it
this is really cool! its too bad that some people have to put in their negative nonsense and judge people the way they do...keep up the banjo playing. its a good thing to pass on to the upcoming generations!!
@jazza279 good luck with the banjo, but it's a lot harder than it looks. I play banjo and guitar and banjo is far harder. You have to worry about the rolls you do with your picking hand, which makes it difficult.
@jazza279 its alot harder then you think, only 5 strings instead of 6, chord progression is different, timing is different, tuned differently, and most everything played on a banjo is picking, and with those strings, you want finger guard picks.
wow, banjos can range from a few hundred to a few thousand .. depends wat kind plectrum, tenor, or 5string like his.. but the brand is a huge factor too
Well it depends on what you want to play. Learn what you will want to play for years to come. The banjo is easier to learn but is harder to master than the guitar. The guitar has a broader music selection, but the banjo is just fun. Hope this helps.
banjo. as a guitar player who learned banjo 6 years after i picked up the guitar, banjo has been a very hard transition for me. because of the picking. the fingering is no problem for me, but when it comes to correct picking its a real pain in the ass.
I personally LOVE, guitar but i think banjo would b interestiing for like dropkick murphy/flogging moll celtic punk style so id like to learn to play, ive only been playing guitar for 2 years but im really into it
Yes.. As far as I can tell the banjo is a Nechville Nextar model. Nechville banjos are AMAZING in tone and quality and they are the most high tech and innovative banjo designers in the world! I currently own two of them and I'm considering getting one more.. haha.. Tom Nechville and the rest of the crew are a great bunch of folks and the customer service, like their products, is second to none! Pick on Y'all!
i can agree on that the banjo sound and feel is great but its heritage`? that it was made by enslaved africans and then taken away to rich south american pricks? good heritage (both strings and the leather drum as many knows, comes from africa, hint hint evolution)
O lve the banjo too, its my all time favorite! I'm not sure there is ONE specific thing about the banjo, there are many. The sound, the heritage, and just how untapped it is. You can play anything on it, but who does? The creative possiblities are endless.
man that was great. id love it if you just made like i ten minute vid of you just playin blue grass, if you do somthin like that pm me plaese. great vid!
ive had a banjo since i was 16 and i can only play cripple creek really badly lol ive never used finger picks i know ur supposed to but i get annoyed easily! but i try play it as well as possible which isnt good lol
No not really. It would be helpful if you played another stringed instrument so your finger would have some calluses build up already and have some knowledge of chords, rhythm, etc.
But its not necessary. I reccomend getting the "Earl Scruggs And The Five String Banjo" book, It'll teach you alot of great stuff to get you started. Good luck!
I used to work with Sue Cunnigham and I love Bluegrass music. Used to listen to a band at Pittstown Inn called Devil's Dream and went to the Appilachian Mountain bluegrass festivals.
