No question is truly embarassing if posed in earnest, Kerstin. The term "pwn" stems from 1337-speak and means to defeat someone while making them look quite foolish. Trash talking in online gaming can be tricky, and the letters p and o are next to each other. "Pwn" is believed to be stronger than "own". However, a3 is not a bad move in the queen's gambit per se. But then, it was a blitz game, and with limited time, I prefer to go directly for the king's scalp instead of besieging weaknesses on the queen side.

That was actually fairly high quality chess from White. Didn't expect much because of the primitive interface (not exactly ICC or Playchess).
You understood the problems of Nc6, delayed castling and played the clever a3 to stop dxc4-Nb4-d5 maneuvers. Missing Bxh7 is a minor thing.
