Thanks for the question...my husband and I are just your average, everyday (i.e. enthusiastic) riders who have taken a variety of skills courses including the Ride Like a Pro course which is a GREATLY simplified version of the police skills training. If there are any Motor Officers out there who would like to field this inquiry please feel free to respond!! In our travels, though, we have seen BMW R1200RTs, Honda ST1300s and Kawasaki Councours in use by various police forces.
(see attached from earlier..) there are faster, more comfortable more fuel efficient and better equipped bikes to undertake the task. Is there a desire to use local ( well localish...) brands? Always wondered, never asked!
enjoyed the vid and this is a legit question - not a Harly bashing question - are Harleys and Victorys used exclusinvely across the 55,000 odd police forces in the USA? Do they also use marques like Honda and BMW as other counties int he world do? Im a cruiser rider (Triumph Storm) and appreciate the skills these guys show and have some understanding of what its like to ride a power cruiser, but it strikes me as odd that a Cruiser can be a legitimate police bike when
These are typically 850 lb motorcycles(!). The motor officers have amazing skills which they practice continually....and yes, they do have a clutch, which they modulate and offset with their rear brake in order to maintain their balance at such slow speeds and steep lean angles. Thanks for your question.
What model bikes are these? They're gorgeous.

@Conway79
These are primarily HD Road Kings and Electra Glides. See Harley's website for details.

So while these guys are all showing off their skills, who's on the streets?
