  • I LOVVVEEE THISSS SONG SOOOOO MUCHHH!!!!!!!! -3

  • Ohh my gosh the woman in the song are both beautiful

  • scarborough fair

  • It's Ethel from Downton Abbey!

  • @dazzle1211 do you watch downtown abbey?

  • @KazumiTheAwesome Yes I do...even though the drama can be a bit over the top.

  • What is the wind instrument used at the beginning?

  • @EpicAmanda i am pretty sure it is a shakuhachi which is a japenese flute made of bamboo

  • <3 Need to go on that beach!

  • Her voice reminds me of the girl from Epica. :D

  • @cafeko

Thank you! You actually know Kamelot! :D

I love this song--the singer and background are very pretty, though the orignial S&G is still my favourite.

Sarah Brightman's version isn't my fav. because I don't think it fits the style of this song as well--too much vibrato and it feels a little overdone to me. I hope that doesn't sound to snobby. It's my opinion as a fellow singer. This version is simpler, cleaner, and gorgeous. Rock on, girlfriend!

  • @InspireBlind

Oh, I love Kamelot! I also like Sarah Brightman but I agree her voice isn't meant for some songs. From classic to symphonic I love it all. I just wish that stuff were more popular instead of pop^^

  • The introduction is too long.

  • if i could... i would sit and press the like button for an whole hour listening to this song on repeat!!!!!!

  • hideous makeup! why are you wearing that crap! Amazing Voice

  • simply beautiful

  • didnt she used to be in emerdale farm

  • The best version of the song I've heard.

  • @Woody2chuck You obviously haven't heard Simon and Garfunkel sing it... I mean, this is amazing, but.....

  • @vbdevil I like S & G's version too, but there is something special about a woman's voice in this song.

  • @Woody2chuck The best? listen the Sarah Brightman version and than tell me :P!!!

  • @castoro83 Sarah's version is very nice, but I found her instrumentals too loud and distracting - I preferred the voice.

  • How can you say this woman looks like a duck. Are you BLIND!?

That aside though- her voice is goooorgeous!

  • amazing performance

  • Not a duck, but a beautiful swan !!!!!!!!

  • She is good proportion, but looks like a duck.

  • @civillazer And you look like an idiot. :D

  • Perfect voice for this song

  • Such a great voice and a great girl. Went to school with her and she was amazing then and she still is!

  • @sammor660 as dramatic as emerdale!

  • I'm surprised that this video has only 401,777 views. I think she has an amazing voice and she deserves more recognition!

  • she sings like an angel, just beautiful

JAJAJJA

    SALUDOS

  • Bonega!

  • KOKIA's cover of it is muuuch better! :D

  • 23 peoples listening music with off sound WTF !!

  • Did men even make shirts back then? I thought it was women who did that stuff.

  • @101rocketmail The song was originally sang by men, so she had to change "her" to "him" and "she" to "he" and so on. Women did that stuff, yes. But she had to change the lyrics to be sung by a woman. (:

  • WOW

  • voice of an angel ,,wow,,

  • If you had a song for Heaven, this will be it.

  • STUNNING

  • wow...that's a real diffrent voice , why she's not famous?

  • @MrSouLguitar7 She was once, she was all over FHM and in Ennerdale. I didnt know she could sing though she has a stunning voice.

  • Nádherný hlás...Moc pěkná spěvačka...From Czech.

  • Beautiful and fantastical... :-)

  • Fantastical...=)

  • So im just getting into songs like this and i love it but its hard to find actual songs like this ive found this greensleeves.....and if i was a blackbird........can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

  • @intoxicatedskier search 'english folk songs' - job done.(eg - veni veni emmanuel)

  • @Andeanworld

Do you have The Best Days from Amy Nuttall you can torrent !?

  • She has got a lovely voice, just a perfect one to sing it.... and she is a lovely girl... my heart sings with her... all women of all times sing it with...no matter how old or ...

  • Also, what does gender have to do with it? Or ethnicity, or anything like that for that matter. No gender nor colour changes that we are human.

  • To the two arguing about your opinions in who does it better. Let me say this. TO EACH HIS OWN. Who cares what someone else thinks. I've found versions of songs I hated, then others I liked, and people disagreed with me. Don't go bad mouthing someone opinion because it doesn't match yours. Just let it go, and know how you feel, and no one will change it.

  • So you're a twentysomething AsianAmerican I think woman and I'm a mid-forties male that's been listening and going to concerts since I was 7 almost 40 yrs. Point being your opinion is just that, I've heard ones like it before and I did read what you said you said every version sounds better then the original. S and G really introduced this song to the world because they did it so well, so please make me look like an asshat. Music sucks so bad cause you settle for mediocrity.

  • her voice sounds a bit like Annie Haslam's, which is a privilege!

  • It's kinda funny how every version I've heard sounds better than the original, or maybe I just like how these chicks sound compared to Simon & Garfunkel.

  • @gold3ndrag0n There is no original. It's an old folksong.

  • @gold3ndrag0n not to slam you but you been smoking something that surely has clouded your mind and hearing, almost every female sings this song the same way. With their high pitched soulless voices...Simon and Garfunkels warm tones and professional melodies make all the others seem like little school children at choir practice..

  • @nat00ben06 not to slam you but you should go back and read what I said instead of offering your opinion and holding it as truth over the rest of us thus making yourself look like asshat.

  • @nat00ben06 Simon and Garfunkel? These children don't know Simon and Garfunkel anymore than black and white televisions or what it means to "dial a phone" Those were men of a generation, not much spoken of except by old codgers or academics. I prefer the ladies, you compare to school children. Simon and Garfunkel had their anti-military and damn the authority as their agenda. Not to find fault, there was a lot of that "smoking something" going on that duo's tour bus back then.

  • 21 people are not going to Scarborough Fair

  • (Dutch) Dit is volgens mij de allermooiste versie van dit schitterend lied vertolkt door een beeldschone zangeres. Romantiek pur sang!

(English) A most perfect performance by a most beautiful lady!

    Pure romance!

  • The ONLY version of this very old and lovely medieval tune

  • OK, I like this woman's voice, and her interpretation of the song.

What I do not like is the arrangement. There's too much "orchestral" going on in the background for my tastes. This is a ballad, not chamber music. To put it in the blunt vernacular, it's too damn limp-wristed.

Then again, my two favorite versions, of those on YT, are Leaves Eyes and Megurine Luka. We all have our own tastes.

  • Amy, I am a 45 year old male... I play electric guitar and my influences are Jimi Hendrix Robin Trower Billy gibbonsTommy Shaw James Dewar and the like,,, I play a Les Paul, and I weigh 150 pounds naked... I know I'm cute, no big deal... but you I would give much to meet you... I love your version of this song and "So Far Away"... God bless you and I want you...

  • @Rhett849

    Bahaha, good luck, horndog :)

  • I like the Celtic Woman version of this piece better, although Amy Nuttall does have a good voice.

  • Celtic Woman done an awesome version of this

  • Comment removed

  • @LordVomitThe2nd nice try....type in 'Celtic Woman Scarborough Fair' in the search bar, this is what i mean by 'Celtic Woman done an awesome version of this'

  • Comment removed

  • @LordVomitThe2nd Whoa calm down Sweetheart, the fact that you say "some Irish Women" makes me think that you don't understand.

'Celtic Woman' is an Irish group that comprises of a orchestra style band and 4-5 beautiful Irish girls with equally beautiful voices, they sing a varied range of songs one of which is called 'Scarborough Fair', I was NOT saying that this song was Celtic but that 'Celtic Woman' had done an awesome version of this song.

  • @LordVomitThe2nd

Sir, you are half correct and half mistaken. This is an English *adaptation* of an old Scots ballad entitled "The Elfin Knight". So unless you'd care to deny that the Scots are a Celtic people, it's rather a moot point.

  • @intoxicatedskier Wiki is not 100% accurate, I have heard both songs sung live by folk singers and they are nothing alike apart from the impossible tasks bit.

And why have you removed your comment?

  • It is true that for the most part only monks and priests could read or write 700 years ago, and in many cases not very well. Regardless of that, the point I am trying to make is there actually were some educated people out there that were not monks or priests. I imagine most, if not all of these people not of the clergy were nobility or royalty. As for there being no written lyrics, there may have been once, and the lyrics were lost in a fire or whatever happened to befall them. Who knows.....

  • I think this is my favourite vesion of this song.

  • i love this song

  • It's a great old ballad and the reason no-one knows who composed it is, it was composed about 700 years ago, long before the age of writing, an age when only the medieval monks could write. This is why there are no written lyrics, and why it is not credited in writing to the composer.

The thing to keep in mind is, the tasks in the ballad are all impossible, the lover in the ballad can ever achieve them. It was and is impossible to make a shirt without a seam, etc. etc.

  • I've learned what I think is the original or very close. It was in old English and had slightly different lyrics. I can't find it on yt though

  • 20 people obviously are not going to Scarborough Fair

  • @89mexie now its 21 people.

  • @89mexie

  • I feel the same as Mr. Nothing 43... this and Nights in Blue Satin are the best ever.

I can see why these people like it so much! congrats!

  • I feel the same as Mr. Nothing 43... this and Nights in Blue Satin are the best ever.

  • I feel the same as Mr. Nothing 43... this and Nights in Blue Satin are the best ever.

  • Ótimo!!!!!!!!!!!

Pra quem não gostou é porque realmente não entende o que é música!!

  • @adonay8728

    Falo e disse !!!

  • Well, i like this version better then the Sarah Brightman´s one. Beautiful, strong voice!

  • Cuộc sống thiếu vắng quê hương như day dứt, day dứt tận đáy cõi lòng. Nghe bài hát như được trở về với tuổi thơ tôi. Nơi tôi sinh ra được sống với tình cảm gia đình, làng xóm và cả con mương đỏ nặng phú sa nơi tôi đẵm mình.

  • Amazing voice ... appalling make-up. Wash that crap off, woman!

  • She is BEAUTIFUL.........God its so unfair thats she's not mine :-(

  • She sings it exquisitely.

  • This song has so much history to it. Beautiful! I can never get tired of this song. Both Amy Nuttall and Sarah Brightman sing this song wonderfully.

  • It's amazIng how the flutist can create such a pure tone like that of a singer.

  • 19 people are the guys who just couldn't make it to Scarborough Fair. :c

  • i dont understand how this is one of the most viewed versions of such an old timeless song, with it being overproduced and the vocal being completely processed. thats not her real voice and this isn't close to the original arrangment.

  • quanto sei bonaaa!!!

  • guyz get your facts straight it is irish (jealous of that fact me thinx) okay what about the song "amarillo" that was sung by an englishman but amarillo isnt even in england, wake up!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think there are many "Scarborough's" in Ireland :O))) ...unless of course someone from Ireland pop'd over to Scarborough for a day trip and had a good enough time to sing about it.

  • one of the best folk songs ever to come out of Ireland (Ireland rules)

  • @raindance1969 Its actually English

  • @raindance1969 this song never came from Ireland. It's old English

  • i would to hear Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (voice on silent hill songs) sing this

  • a fantastic version of an all time classic................and yes she is hot !!

  • I like this version, but it seems so nice and sweet, if you believe it's a song about death (the plague), then simon and garfunkels version is probably the most powerful. If you believe it;s about a person asking the listener to tell her former lover to perform acts that are impossible, then this and Sara's are right on....

  • me encantaa

  • 19 people aren't going to Scarborough Fair.

  • Scarborough Fair...This song is centuries old, probably Anglo Saxon

  • She is stunning.

  • Splendida voce, bellissima canzone, molto dolce.

  • Shivering and crying. It is a good thing I can type because at the moment, I can not speak.

  • parsley?sage?rosmary?thyme?lol she loves herbert spice

  • beautiful

  • Mmmm...she's sexy, but again this obsession with looks, she's very mediocre like almost all these woman, they're just carbon copies of each other they all sound the same or very similiar. Simon and Garfunkel's rendition is so much better then all the rest. Obviously this song needs to be sung with at least two voices for a little thing called harmony. U know for effects: Mood, color, texture, warmth, tone,dynamics.....

  • Wow!! Wonderful version of a great favourite song!! Thanks so much! Mina

  • I wish I could sing like that. I love this song so much <3

  • I wish iTunes sold this. I would buy it in a heartbeat. It's so beautiful and flowing. :)

  • ...! i think that was a chineese reed-flute...aaand that she was mouthing the words...correct me if Im wrong please

  • Csodálatos!

  • Oops, 17 folks misclicked dislike!

  • i love this piece of music. just wanna dream away.... so beautiful...thank you

  • i love this piece of music. just wanna dream away.... so beautiful...thank you

  • i think celtic woman made the best version

amy nuttal makes a good one but not better than celtic woman

but i don't like the one by sarah brightman

  • i like this version and sarah brrightman's version......actually i like all versions.....one of the greatest songs of all time....... i love how no one knows the true composer of this masterpiece.

  • @MrNothing43 me too me too!

  • @MrNothing43 Pretty well said my friend!

Greetings from Greece to all music lovers...

  • @MrNothing43 could not agree more

  • @MrNothing43 its tru well there is no composer cos this song comes as a folk songs so there is no root to a composer only history knows it !!!

one of hte best song ever !!!!!

i like this version than sarha brightman's

    may be the vocal

  • @MrNothing43 Corrrect me if I am wrong, its Simon & Garfunkel

  • @tubeless727 ummm, no, simon & garfunkel aren't the composers of Scarborough Fair. it's an old british folk song.

  • @emoly39 Thanks for the information.

  • @MrNothing43 I think its Simon & Garfunkel. Their version is more hauntingly beautiful to me

  • @MrNothing43 it wasn't Simon and Garfunkle?

  • Comment removed

  • @SammmyNan no sadly not

  • @MrNothing43 can you imagine create such a master piece ....and nobody knows who created it?....another one is "El condor pasa" .....and both are sang by Simon and Garfunkel

  • @MrNothing43 Nobody knows? Thats going to drive me insane

  • @MrNothing43

There have been many different writings of this song. This version, I believe, was put together by Paul Simon. I might be wrong about that. I have seen information pointing to another co-author of this version: Marty Carthy, I think his name is. Other possible authors of this version are Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger.

  • @MrNothing43 Wasn't it Simon and Garfunkel who originally recorded this?

  • @Daemonknight69 lol...no this song is over five hundred years old

  • @Daemonknight69 i read that the composer is unknown.... it's also based on a poem.... the oldest and closest to the o
