Sad about the Duke of Kent, he is now forgotten, but was reputedly a good husband and father, despite allegations of him being a closet gay and drug addict too. Wallis married Edward because the dream had suddenly become a nightmare and she saw no other way out...a bit like Diana who died as she lived...in the Fast Lane.

@ajay999999 It didn't have a lot to do with her being a divorcee. If you read the excellent book "Wallis" by Charles Higham - you'll get an idea of why she was not welcome within the RF.

Saying that - they were very wrong not to have her styled HRH. It was petty & spiteful.

@mc0558 George V had FIVE sons. Edward duke of Windsor aka edward the 8th, Albert Duke of York who was king. george Duke of Kent who died in 1942 serving his country. Henry duke of Glouster, and of course John 1905-1918 or so he died at age 13 from epilespy. you might like Lady Mountbatten's videos of these children. the king and queen had six children the other one was HRH Princess Mary 1895-1965,

thanks for edward. although a foolish man with little insight into his behaviour and position after the abdication, he was treated like a leper. eliz ii tried to make amends. alas all too late. not a period the royals can be proud of. wallis remains a mystery and many lies still abound.

@johneunson Have you read the book by her doctor? It is not lies and fills in quite a bit. I do not think for one minute Edward was gay. Neither was George duke of Kent

no i haven't read that book. can you send me some details? please. dont tell me he states she was male. a recent book published in the uk. is persuasive re edward being bisexual. the duke of kent had a close relationships with some men, the most famous being noel coward...however i cannot comment on what happened in the bedroom, i was not there.
