Also doch die "gute alte Zeit"!!! Zumindest die Ideen, also auch die Kompositionen,

@muziekant156 believe it or not, i like this stuff. i think its perfectly okay to listen to this stuff just like anyone would listen to rap or rock or whatever floats your medieval boat
four recorders (i guess soprano-alto-tenor and bass)
a lute
four viola da gambas (bass, tenor, alto and soprano )
a double bass (to tell the truth this a bit anachronistic as a renaissance instrument, but only a little bit: the sub-contrabass viola da gamba has the same tuning of it's strings as the double-bass
The third in the hand of the red-tabarded man is an alto recorder and the fourth is the bass.
The denominations of the viola da gambas are varied in almost every country, and were varied centuries ago by the music-theoretics. But I think that the second viola dagamba from the left side played by the puke-red dressed lady is the "classical" gamba pitched: D-G-c-e-a-d'
Superb! I live near Antwerp and I am very proud of the beautiful music made in this area. I also will mention the Susanne van Soldt - manuscript for keyboard instruments.
This is very good. Sometimes a little fast for my taste, but to each their own. Very neat to hear this played by traditional instruments after my band played it. 5/5
When Medieval, and Renaissance Music is played with panache, and sheer ethusiasm it can easily rival any pop music group. It just needs creativity in abudance, and a good understanding of the varied instrumentation.
The Renaissance Consort appears to be a good example of the above.
It's a delight to hear an ensemble play absolutely on pitch, in gorgeous unity, with no rhythmic shlumpiness at all, and so spiritedly. You people rule!!
As soon as I played this video, I thought this must be the group I have on CD, because they sound virtually identical, not to mention they're playing the same pieces of music. However, after checking my CD, it appears they are different. If this group doesn't have a recording, then the New London Consort headed by Philip Pickett does (or did back when I bought mine), titled "Tielman Susato, Dansereye 1551", or "Susato Dances" reading the edge of the CD case.
Hi, there is a Hungarian counterpart of Pickett, he is ( was ) László Czidra, releasing a Susato album in 1985 by Hungaroton. I think, the way of performing the dances here resembles to that of Czidra.[ No wonder, this group is also Hungarian.] ( Of course, all of them originate from D. Munrow. )

A thumbs down for this comment? This music WAS the "rock and roll" of its time. Hip, trendy, modern. Good grief.

These people are talented and don't miss a note, specially considering they were all born in the 1500's!

Sorry I was wrong.
The first two recorders are both sopranos.

The music that they make is so beautiful, warm and epic. Do they tour internationally, or only in Hungary?
